Chapter 99

Natasha

My world is crashing right before my eyes and there is nothing I can do about it. It’s as if my hands are tied and that can be frustrating. I’m tempted each day to take alcohol but this damn baby always stops me. I’m six months gone and I don’t think alcohol is going to do both me and the baby any good.

I walked aimlessly into my house, having fired all the staff in the space of one week, and there was no one to say a word to me. My temper and their clumsiness weren’t agreeing hence the reason each one keeps walking out of that gate each day.

My feet carried me to my mum’s room. I stopped outside her door, placed my head on it, and wrapped my hand around the door knob. Inhaling and exhaling loudly, I tried to keep myself from crying. Forty years in imprisonment isn’t life; I guess she’ll be out by the time she’s ninety-five.

A stifled cry escaped my throat as I opened the door and walked into her room. My son will be forty years by the time she’s out! This is fucking ridiculou
