Bastien: “Kai, my old friend!”
Kai: “Cut the crap, Bastien. Tell me why you took Nikolai’s mate and what you want in return.”
Bastien: -sighs- “I don’t know why you feel the need to be hostile, don’t you realise what I am holding in my hands right now?”
Kai: “Get to what you want and get it over with.”
Bastien: -chuckles- “I want what has always been mine, Kai; I want my mate.”
Kai: -scoffs- “Are you still lusting after Lilith when you know she’s my brother’s mate? You’re sick, Bastien.”
Bastien: “Lilith? As in Lilith Vega? Why would I be lusting after her?”
Kai: “You told her to kill her children and join you a few years ago, don’t tell me you don’t remember this conversation?”Bastien: “Ah, that. I simply gave her the advice my mother gave me. No one wanted the demonic offspring to be born, Kai, that thing is an evil incarnate and will bring darkness to your entire pack.”
Kai: “And it has been sealed. Stop going off-topic and tell me why Nova was taken.”
Bastien: -sighs again, then his voice gets lower- “It was the only way to get your attention.”
Kai: “You declared war on three of the largest packs in the entire country, Bastien, you’ve got my attention alright.”
Bastien: “You see that… was a mistake.”
Kai: -a low growl- “A mistake? You do not declare war by mistake!”
Bastien: “Yes, but I needed… I needed to do that. -clears throat- He made me do it.”
Kai: -stays quiet for a few seconds- “He? Who exactly could force one of the Five Alphas to declare war when we have all been living in peace for generations?!”
Bastien: “Your father, Daniil Volkov.”
Kai: -lets out a long sigh- “Of course it’s him, we knew that long ago. But how exactly did he get you to do this? You have an entire army willing to die for you and you have killed thousands; who and what could make you fold so easily.”
Bastien: “My mate and firstborn son; he has them encased in crystal barely hanging onto life and has promised to release them once you’re dead. I had to protect my own, Kai, I had to think of my kin.”
Kai: “Well, that’s truly unexpected. But I still do not understand why you needed my attention by kidnapping Nova; surely a phone call would have sufficed?”
Bastien: “I don’t trust anyone except the one warrior at my side and I needed to make it look like I will be attacking your family from the inside. This had to play out the way I planned it, Kai, I needed to speak with you no matter what.”
Kai: “You have my attention; I’m listening.”
Bastien: “Thank you.” -sighs- “Your father has a base just bordering Canada in Minnesota. He has a pack full of Lycans under his control and uses them as he sees fit, he also has a witch named Mila. A powerful bitch who my mother knows and seems to worship. They will strike your packs in Iowa and conclude the war in Florida, this will happen over the course of the next three weeks.”
Kai: “Why are you telling me this?”
Bastien: “Because I need your help to get my mate and son back, Kai. I do not want this war and neither does my sister, Azura. He’s forced her the same way he’s done with me, the only difference is he’s killed her mate and threatens her child.”
Kai: “Don’t the Maidens mate every few years, though? Why is she so attached to her mate when I know the Maidens do not keep mates?”
Bastien: -chuckles sadly- “Because my sister has been barren; none of her mating partners has been able to impregnate her. Thomas was the only one and now she has her miracle child. I am sure you understand why she has done this, Kai, she has no choice as she is the future of her pack.”
Kai: “Hmmm, I understand. How would you like this to play out?”
Bastien: “Find my cabin; I will forward you the coordinates. Pretend you’re laying siege and capture me. Then I would like for your Luna to lay her hands on me so you can see I am not lying. I’ll be waiting, Alpha Kai.”
–CALL ENDS–
NikolaiWe’re looking at the cabin Alpha Bastien is currently in, and Kai signals for us to move. There are ten of us and five of them, so it should be easy, especially since the Alpha permitted us to kill all of them except Raven.Too bad; the fucker needed to die.“Control your thoughts, Nikolai and treat this like any other mission,” Konstantin reprimands me as we storm the cabin. I’m not even sure why all of us came because Kai literally took them all out, then punched Bastien and dragged him outside by the collar.Have got to make it look real, I guess.“Find Nova,” he says, but he didn’t even need to tell me twice. I track her scent to another bedroom, and when I break the door from its hinges, I spot her lying out cold and shackled to the bed. Why the fuck did they have to use silver?!I rush over to the bed, tear the handcuffs from her wrists then pick her up. “You’re safe now, little Rogue,” I murmur, scenting her. I forgot how absolutely beautiful my mate is, and the fact th
NovaI’m not mad that they kidnapped me; I’m angry that they had to knock me over the head so many fucking times! Swear to Goddess, I am going to riot! That Raven is going to get a knock to the eye from me if I could just reach his damn face!“Is she okay?”“She’s still passed out; it’s not like there’s a fucking werewolf doctor we can call. I just have to see when she wakes up.”Was that Nikolai? Did this knock on my head make me enter some dream state where I’m hearing my mate instead of that insufferable Raven? However, I giggle when I hear the term ‘werewolf doctor’ and hear footsteps approaching the bed I’m on.“Werewolf doctor,” I giggled, then burst out laughing. “A weredoctor!”“Are you sure she doesn’t need a different kind of doctor?” Wait that sounds like Konstantin, doesn’t it? I eventually open my eyes, a weird feeling washing over me when I realise that I’m not in the cabin anymore. There’s also no funky swamp/flower scent here at all; wait, where am I? My blurry eyes f
NikolaiShe’s back in my penthouse, showering and getting ready to have a meal with me. It’s Friday, the day she’s supposed to be meeting with the witches, but I have called it off. I want to spend the entire day with her, seeing as I missed out on four without her.I cannot believe how much I’ve missed her after spending only two days with her before. This is the woman I want at my side, and the fact that she’ll be living with me from now on makes me happier than I ever thought it would! To be honest, I expected her to argue with me, but she gave in so easily; is there a reason?Soft footsteps on my floors, and my heart stops when I turn to look at her walking toward me. She looks at the expression on my face and blushes before looking at her feet.“I hope you don’t mind; I wanted a piece of you with me.” She says, tugging the hem of my grey t-shirt she has decided to wear instead of the clothes Caterina bought for her. It covers the important bits; however, the sight of her upper th
NovaHmmm, something is nice and warm next to me; I don’t remember buying a giant teddy, though. Snuggling deeper into the warmth, I catch a familiar smell…a very smoky bergamot smell.Wait…I wrench my eyes open straight into a hard chest and see my arm wrapped around Nikolai’s waist. He similarly had his arm around my waist, holding me tightly against him while our legs were intertwined. How the hell did we end up this way?!“Stop wiggling so much; I was having a nice dream,” Nikolai complains and holds me close. I blink at his words, then peer up and see the smirk on his face, but his eyes are still closed.“Are you enjoying this?” “Fuck yeah, I am. Now just close your eyes and enjoy it as well. All that wiggling isn’t good for what your knee is pressed up against.” He says, that smirk growing even wider as I feel flushed. He’s right; my knee is pressed up against his cock, and it’s getting hard. Not only that, but the t-shirt I’m wearing is riding up, and my entire upper thigh is
NovaThe Estate’s entrance seems to have moved again. Nikolai says that the witches move the entry every month even though no one on the outside can enter or find the community unless one of the brothers invites them in.I still can’t believe the Alpha is 40 and yet looks so young. Oh, to be a Volkov and not age past 28 when unmated. I doubt I would be happy, though; I already look older than Nikolai. We come to a stop in front of the Volkov mansion, and Nikolai opens the door for me. He then laces his fingers with mine and walks me inside. I’m excited, but the nerves are coiling my insides, and I feel like I might just vomit.“Hey,” Nikolai says, stopping in front of the large oak door. “Are you okay?”“Yes,” I nod. “I’m just nervous.”He smiles at me and cups my face in his hands. “I understand, but just know that they’re all excited to see you again.” He says, then plants a soft kiss on my forehead and lips.I breathe out a sigh. “Okay. I promise I’m fine; I just haven’t seen anyon
NikolaiI walk toward Dimitri with a smirk on my face, and he just rolls his eyes at my reaction.“Shut it,”“I will definitely not shut it,” I say and put an arm around his neck. “Is this the decision you made, then? You’re going to do it?”He shrugs. “I don’t know yet. For now, we’re only friends and nothing more. Her parents remember me from the time I brought her to them, so her father is being extremely nice to me.” He says with a roll of his eyes. “Where’s your mate, by the way?”I looked around the room, realising a bit too late that Nova was nowhere to be seen. However, I do still smell her scent, so she must still be around here.“She's here somewhere, but stop changing the subject and tell me how this all happened. You’ve been quiet since Nova was taken and barely spoke to me about what you'll do next.” I say, remembering his last words about how he needs to make a decision. When Dimitri relays the entire events of the last few days to me, I am in literal shock over what has
NovaI’m constantly waking up with headaches lately, and the one assaulting me right now feels like the worst I’ve had. My head feels like it’s about to split open - literally. “Ugh,” I complain and sit up while trying to focus my eyesight, which seems to be even worse for some reason. When my eyes adjust, I realise that I don’t completely recognise the room that I’m in. Did I get kidnapped again? I feel around in the pockets of my jeans for my cell phone so that I can call Nikolai, but before I can find it, the door opens, and he steps inside.“Hey, Nickybabe,” I say with a lazy smile and watch his face lights up.“You’re awake,” he says as he walks toward me and sits down on the bed next to me. “How are you feeling?”I clear my throat and try to blink, but even that hurts.“My head is killing me; even blinking hurts right now. Did something happen? Did I drink too much wine?” I ask, remembering the one glass I had on the terrace but nothing else. “You passed out earlier; I think
NovaNikolai slams on the brakes as the words leave my mouth, and I can kick myself at my thoughtless words. He looks over at me with wide, horrified eyes and waits for me to explain.“What-”“It’s nothing like that, trust me! Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you, Nikolai; it’s just something I’ve been meaning to tell you.” I explain, feeling guilty to have sprung this on him right now, but he seems to accept my explanation and starts the car.“Next time, wait until we’re not in a moving vehicle, Nova,” he grumbles, nearing the penthouse, and I’m not sure if I should laugh or shut up, so I shut up.I help him get the dishes out before heading to the penthouse. The atmosphere in the elevator is thick with tension on the way up and even as we pack the food away in silence. How am I going to bring this up with him? How is he going to react once he knows my dirty secret? As soon as the last dish was packed away, Nikolai grabbed me by my wrist and pulled me inside the living room, where he s
Kai Nearly fourteen years of the Convergence, with every year being as successful as the previous one. Our packs have lived in harmony for this long, with no wars or antagonising from smaller packs; everything was peaceful. However, as I look down at the RSVP in my hand, I am not sure if it is anger or fear coursing through my veins. After fourteen years of replying NO, the European Five have finally decided to join the Convergence. I have been sending invitations out of courtesy and expected a negative response, but the fact that all of them responded yes has a cold sweat running down my back. I hope it is simply nerves and that, once again, my feelings aren’t right. “What are you thinking of so intently?” The voice of Caterina cuts through the haze of my thoughts. I look up from my desk. I am almost sure that the older she gets, the more beautiful she becomes, and I find myself falling for her all over again on a daily basis. I smile as she walks over to me, wearing a tiny blac
Konstantin I look up at the mansion I used to call home and sigh. After another two years, I have returned empty-handed and with no news. Kaia is still missing, with no word and no sound even in Europe. I know I should simply let it go, that perhaps the fucking witch killed my only daughter the minute she took her, but I cannot give up hope. Not when I promised to bring her back home. She has turned eighteen now, the same age as Kai’s eldest, and I’m not sure what to think. Years spent without her parents and in the grip of a witch who has undoubtedly twisted her mind. I don’t know what to expect anymore; in fact, I don’t know what more to do. The front door opens, and the only one who hasn’t given up on me rushes out to meet me. Her eyes glisten with unshed tears, and I hear her sobbing against my chest. “No more, Kon, please…we need to stop this,” she says, then peers up at me with a heartbroken expression. “You need to come home now.” I shake my head. “I still didn’t find her-”
NikolaiI knew as soon as I set my eyes on Nova that she would change the entire trajectory of my life - and I wasn’t wrong. Not only has she changed my life for the better, but she’s added more colour to it. And I don’t mean the whirlwind that is my son, Sage.Every aspect of our lives changed drastically when we discovered that Nova’s womb had been healed and that she was pregnant with our firstborn. Her pregnancy was not an easy one, so after Sage’s birth, we decided to keep it to one child only.Yet as I watch her sleep with one hand on her swollen belly, I wonder where the hell that decision went.“Time to wake up, little Rogue,” I try to coax her awake, but she swats my hand away. “Nooo…” she complains, covering her head with a pillow. “I barely slept last night.”“Bullshit, you went to bed at seven and kept me awake by imitating a chainsaw all damn night. The one who really deserves sleep is me!” I say, ripping the pillow from her face and watching as her face reddens.“That’
DimitriI watch the sun set over Paris and sigh, knowing this would be our final night here. Arya’s paintings and art have become world-renowned, and in that, we haven’t been able to focus much on ourselves. The last few years have been a whirlwind, so much so that we haven’t been able to focus on ourselves or starting a family together. Sure, everyone back home understands, and so do I, but I can’t help but feel a sliver of disappointment at where our lives have led us.I want a family with my mate; I want us to settle down and get our lives together. However, I can’t force this on Arya. But I know that I will need to speak with her about this soon. Even as my wolf knots her each time we make love, nothing has come of it. Is it my fault? Is my body too weak?A head leans against my back. “Hey, Mitya,” came the voice of my angel, alluring as usual. I turn around to face her, about to offer her a fake smile, when I see the tears in her eyes and her bottom lip trembling. “Arya, what-”
AryaWe couldn’t do much after Kai’s revelation last night. So now we’re all standing in the Hall of the Five, welcoming guests as if nothing is wrong. So far, I’ve met Alpha Bastien and his two mates, his sister, the beautiful Alpha Azura, Alpha Ryker and his Beta Ruin and Lilith’s half-brother, Alpha Fenriz, unfortunately without his Luna Marina. They all seemed lovely, but Caterina has asked me to not let my guard down, especially after what Kai told us yesterday. Ah, I suppose I should start calling him Alpha Kai from now on, hey?I look around the beautifully decorated hall and smile, knowing the other ladies’ hard work has paid off wonderfully. With its glass ceiling so the moonlight may shine through, the red and black drapes and candles adding to the colour scheme, Autumn flower arrangements and the marble floor with the Five’s symbol delicately embedded in gold.“Everything okay on this side?” Dimitri asks as he walks toward me. He’s looking quite dashing in a custom-made Tom
Arya/“Hey, Arya, are you up yet?”//“Come on, please tell us you’re awake already! It’s noon!”/My eyes flutter open to the voices booming in my head, and I groan, trying to drown them out with a pillow to my head.“Argh, go away!” I exclaim while holding the pillow to my face. “I wanna sleep! Leave me alone!”I hear Dimitri chuckling next to me, and then he pulls the pillow from my head while I can do nothing but protest. “I think the women want your attention, Princess,” he says, shaking his head.“But I’m exhausteeeed!” I pout, folding my arms. “How can they expect me to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed after spending my wedding night with a Volkov?”He laughs again, then gets up and straddles me with a mischievous look in his eyes. I can’t help but peek up at him and run my hands down his perfectly chiselled body.“Hmm,” I say appreciatively, and he rolls his eyes.“Get your ass out of bed, Princess; we have a long day ahead of us,” He says, then plants a kiss on my forehead and
Arya They say a Volkov mating ceremony always ends in at least one death, but as I fall down on Dimitri’s chest after the fifth round, the only death that can be reported is mine. This man is insatiable, truly and wouldn’t let up after he Claimed me with his bite. The bite itself wasn’t painful at all; it felt like a missing piece of my soul being put back. After that, everything felt natural and beautiful, even our animalistic sounds that echoed all around us. The ceremony was beautiful, too; I don’t think I ever cried as much as I did when Caterina read the vows and her prayers. Apparently, ours was her very first ceremony, and it left her in tears as well. And even though I’m no longer human, Dimitri still had a tungsten ring with a black gemstone made for me. Everything is just completely perfect. “What are you thinking about so intently?” Dimitri’s voice cuts through my thoughts, and I look up at him. “Just how perfect everything has been for the last three days,” I say, bre
AryaMy heart is full and bursting right now: everyone has accepted me as part of the pack! I must admit that it’s still odd to think of myself as a werewolf or shifter of any kind. I, a once arrogant and proud Mafia princess, accepted into a great family such as this.I must be dreaming. Not only that, but Caterina removed the scars from my face! I nearly passed out from the shock when I saw my reflection! She didn’t even need to do it, since I’ve come to terms with my scars, but seeing my old face made me realise how much I have missed it!Call me vain, but I missed my own beauty. But this time around, I know that I will not be as arrogant as I used to be since every woman standing next to me is exceptionally beautiful. Although right now, I am feeling extremely self-conscious standing naked in front of them as they try to give me advice.“Okay, Arya, I want you to close your eyes and look at your wolf; make eye contact and do not blink. She will know what to do from there,”“Oh, d
Dimitri It’s a full moon in two days, and Arya has just woken up after being in transition for five days. During her slumber, everyone took turns keeping her company while I was out. Nova was incredibly overprotective of her, something that I loved and yet became extremely annoyed by. Nikolai and I agreed that Nova would be the best person to train Arya when it came to shifting since Nova’s wolf is newly acquired as well. I had forgotten the feelings of my first shift, so my advice wouldn’t match up to what Arya would feel. Now, as I watch her finishing off her sandwich, I can feel nothing but anxiety coming from her. “Hey, are you okay?” I ask, placing my hand over hers, which seems to be trembling. “What’s wrong?” She peers up at me and gives me a tight smile. “I haven’t seen everyone since the attack at the cabin. I remember being confused, and I think I said something hurtful, so I don’t know how to face them. Do they hate me?” She says, then places both her hands on her lap a
