I locked the door to my bedroom and made a call to Rebecca, to let her know that I would be in my room until Jax arrived. Jax could act as my buffer until Liam got back. I just hope it doesn’t take too much longer for him to get here. It’s already been well over the flight time, when you take the time difference into consideration. I already have all the formula I need for today thanks to Amelia providing it for me from the nearest hospital, so we shouldn’t need anything outside of this room for now.

It was times like this that I wished we had a television in our bedroom. Being stuck in here with nothing to do is making me anxious and it allows my brain to keep going over what had happened with Chase. He seems to want more from me than I can give. You mean more than you’re willing to give. My inner monologue can be such a bitch sometimes. After another hour of staring at the ceiling I heard Treasa begin to stir again.

I left Jaxon standing in my bedroom as I raced down to meet the men carrying Chase, the panic causing my skin to burn and my blood to rush to my head.“What happened?”It was the familiar face of Grady who answered. “It was Seamus and Ronald’s men. They attacked headquarters. I don’t know what happened to Chase, he couldn’t even hold a sword. Chase made no move against them, but they attacked him anyway. He has a pretty bad wound on his back.”“Jesus, these people do not know who they are messing with. Let’s get him up to his room and then you can go back and make sure no one else is gravely injured. I have protection here. Jax is visiting.”Grady and Brent helped me get Chase up to his room and stretched him across his bed on his stomach. I ran to my room to let Jax know where I was and asked him to lock himself in the room with Treasa until I was done. When I returned to Chase’s room, I s

“Where are we going Jax?”I assumed we would be staying on the property. Had I known that we would be actually leaving, I would have dressed in something else.“We’re going to Headquarters to get some training in. That should help you to not beat the shit out of Liam and Chase.”That’s why he was my best friend. Jax knew what I needed to keep me sane. Nothing helped relieve pent up anger and frustration like kicking ass or beating on shit.“I love you, Jax.”He just smiled at my admission. I knew I was not the only reason he was going to Headquarters, but he hadn’t intended to go until later in the evening. He also wanted to see Guinivere.“I’m glad you found the woman for you, Jax. It will be nice to see you settled down and happy.”“Funny thing is, I always thought that if I ever settled down it would be with you. I had myself convinced for the longest tim

The meadow looked even more beautiful as the darkness of the night fell around us. The slight glow that the moon had cast on the ground beneath us gave the flowers an almost iridescent glow. It was nice to just sit still for a moment, to just be us. No worries about rebels or the ascension. No Chase to worry about. It was just me and Liam.“Why can’t it just stay this way?”His arms wrapped ever so gently around me, tightening just enough to let me know that he had been wondering the same exact thing.“I wish I knew.”I turned so that I was facing him and allowed my body to rest against his, laying my head against his chest. There was nothing else to say. Both of us were hurting. The best we could do was stick it out and see where this new road took us and pray that we made it through it, relationship intact. But in that moment, I was just his. His and his alone.“Liam?”“Yea?”&ld

I woke up in my bed, sandwiched between two men softly snoring in my ears, with their arms on either side of me. Careful not to wake either of them, I gently moved their arms one at a time so I could scoot myself down the mattress, to get to the bathroom. I needed to shower so I could relieve Jax from baby duty. Once I gathered my clothes from the closet, I went to claim the shower. I couldn’t believe the turn of events last night. I never thought I would enjoy the sight of two men making out before, but oddly enough, it kinda turned me on.Neither of them had a preference for the same sex, their preference was me, but this level of magic that we are dealing with has a plan for us, We just don’t know what that plan is yet. At least I hope there is a reason for this particular turn of events because I’m still not sure that I can handle having two men to tend to. It will undoubtedly be fun, but a lot of work at the same time.A lot of work? Work of th

Treasa was kicking her little feet and making cute baby noises as she stared up at her Daddy and I from the blanket we had laid out on the ground to sit on. Liam had the idea for us to have a nice, peaceful family picnic in the luscious green field just beyond our yard line. The water in the distance added to the beauty with its white on deep blue waves, slapping at the rocks that lined the shore.“I’ll never get over how beautiful it is here.”Liam rested his head on mine as we sat there in the sun, watching Treasa examine her own hands. “It is beautiful. The scenery was what I missed the most while I was in the states looking for you.”A stabbing pain in my temples blurred my vision. I Instinctively raised my hands to my head to massage my temples. Liam was trying to reach for me. The pain vanished as the mental doors slammed open and Chase’s panic rang through.“Get out of there now! Goddammit! Saraid! Liam

I was pacing. I always pace when I’m angry. That was a close call and if that arrow had flown even one inch to either side of me it would’ve struck my daughter. The thought of anything happening to her, quite frankly pissed me off. The realization of just how close it had come to happening drove me beyond anger and into a boiling rage. I needed to put an end to the nonsense before they make another attempt, and they would make another attempt. I’m counting on it.It was near impossible to contain the roaring wave of magic trying to break the surface of my skin, to go on a hunt for vengeance. It wasn’t over. The man that Liam later identified as George Landry, was working for the Curtis brothers and I wasn’t going to rest until they paid for what they had done. A loud hiss escaped me as my lips drew back over my fangs. My fear had me all over the place and the anger had my instincts in overdrive. The recipient of my hiss was Grady. He entered the

“What exactly possessed you into thinking that it was a good idea to host a pre-ascension dinner party?”My voice was hysterical. It has been two days since we had almost died, and I hadn’t heard from Jax since he left. I had asked Guin if she had heard from him and all she could tell me was that he had met some man that had some kind of information that could help him. She was just as worried as me.“Think about it, it’s the perfect opportunity to set a trap,” Chase said defiantly.“He’s right, Princess. Tomorrow is the ascension so tonight is their last chance to get to us before you are crowned.”I hated when they were an agreement against me. I couldn’t accept this plan because it’s taking place in our home, where my daughter will be.“What about Treasa? She’s just a baby.”“We have a plan to keep Treasa safe.”I rounded on them both, a

The room was filled with loud chatter as we all anxiously waited for the meal to be served. My people were laughing, smiling, and just having an all-around good time, conversing amongst each other. As I looked out over the crowd, I realized that my followers were very diversified. Our home was now full of vampires, lycanthropes, fae, merrows, Coomera’s, witches, and so much more. We even had a few leprechauns. One person in particular, a woman, caught my attention. By her beauty alone I knew that she was a merrow and for whatever reason, I had to make it a point to meet her.I caught the sight of a Guardian at the entrance. The bundle he had in his arms immediately stole my attention away from the woman I had been concentrating on. I made a move to stand and the whole room quieted. All eyes were now on me.Well, hell.I hate it when they do that.Determined to ignore the new attention I began to walk the length of the room toward the man

Saraid all but ran from the room and up the stairs with Liam following closely behind, both afraid of letting go of eachothers hands. Once they reached the top of the huge staircase Saraid turned and jumped into Liam's arms, straddling his waist and locked her lips on to his. He carried her to their room, never breaking the kiss. With one arm around his neck, Saraid reached behind herself and turned the knob and pushed open the door to their room. Liam kicked it closed, and fumbled with the lock before crossing the room and tossing Saraid on the bed, pulling a slight giggle from her as she bounced from the impact on the mattress. She sat up and immediately began to pull on the button of Liam's pants, quickly pulling them from his body as her unbridled need for him grew stronger. He kicked his shoes and pants off simultaneously. Her hands hungrily tore at his shirt until it joined the rest of his clothes on the floor and she pulled him down on the bed so she could climb atop his waist

Every eye in the room was trained on Liam as they waited anxiously to see if Treasa's magic was the key to recovering Liam's memories. Saraid dropped to her knees in front of Liam and rubbed Treasa's hair back from her sleeping face. Her heart was pounding against her rib cage as she saw the familiar red barbed wire like mark glow slighty before fading back to its usual dull red appearance. "Liam?" His eyes shifted between Saraid and the sleeping child in his lap, "When did we get back home?" Saraid plopped herself down on her butt and began to laugh hysterically. She didn't find anything about the situation particularly amusing and deep down she felt relieved. She didn't realize that he wouldn't have any recollection of everything that had happened in the past few months. The last time Liam remembered her, they were at the cabin and he was chained to a tree by Graten. How was she going to explain the twisted chain of events that led to her now being bound to Graten as well? Would

An awkward silence befell Saraid and Damon as they sat and discussed the peculiar predicament, they found themselves in. Treasa returned in no time and sat on the floor between them with her arms full of her favorite toys.“Where’s Daddy? I have his favorite dollies so he can play too,” she asked Saraid, her innocent face scrunched up in a sign of confusion.Saraid fought back the tears threatening to fall all over again as she brushed her sweet angels bangs from her face, “Daddy is out helping the Guardians with some important training so it’s just you, me, and Grandpa this time.”Treasa’s smile failed and was replaced with a frown of disappointment, but only for a second. She looked into Saraid’s eyes and asked, “Daddy’s sick, isn’t he?”“What makes you ask that,” Damon interjects.“Because Daddy is not Daddy. “I can’t do this anymore! What was the point of all this if I was just going to keep losing him,” Saraid silently asked herself? She stormed through the mansion, throwing everything she could lift in her anger. She now had the last person responsible for taking Liam away from her and she wanted nothing more than to still her beating heart, but she couldn’t, not yet.A glint of silver caught the corner of her eye, tucked away in the corner atop a small wooden table. It was a picture of her and Liam the day they first sat upon the throne. She felt her breathing slow as she slowly crossed the room and took the picture into her hands. They looked so happy and so in love as they gazed into one another’s eyes. The memory of that day sent a small stream of warm tears down her cheek.“I am yours and you are mine forever,” she whispered through her tears. Her life with Liam seemed to move through her mind like a slow-motion movie. The night air was crisp and added to his misery as he sat up from the dampened ground. Questions plagued his thoughts. How did he get here? Where is he? His eyes darted back and forth, taking in his surroundings. He was protected from the elements by what appeared to be a makeshift shelter of some sort. Every wall was comprised of twigs, moss, and mud. Whoever built this place must live here, but where is here and who lives here?A faint sound of feminine humming drifted in through the missing entryway. He noticed his legs were stiff and hard to move as if he hadn’t moved in days. It also caught his attention that his clothes had been changed because he now wore clothes that he didn’t recognize. A small grunt escaped him as he moved to follow the humming coming from outside.Surrounded by trees along the bank of a river sat the silhouette of a female moving something around in the water. Careful not to startle her, he carefully walked in her direction, his guard up so he wouldn’t be c

Graten had flipped every piece of the furniture in the mansion, feeling slightly defeated when he failed to find her there. He was sure that she had vanished into Purgatory, but she would be here at the mansion, right? He won’t rest until he finds her.“Come on Saraid, where are you?” he asks the empty room.Maybe she’s not even here. She could have just vanished to get away from me. Or maybe when she wound up here, she decided to go out to look for me.“Hmph, Fat chance,” he mocked himself but decided that seeing if she was at his place was better than doing nothing. He jogged through the mansion until he found himself seated on his motorcycle. The turn of the key left an echo like thunder in his wake as he went barreling down the old dirt road in the direction of his brewery. If nothing else maybe, he will run into her along the way.As the brewery came into sight, he noticed a familiar car in the lot. The room looked like hers, only everything was grey and void of any color. The last thing she remembered was crying herself to sleep and then there was a glimpse of Graten and now she was here. Here she assumed is Purgatory. She needed to get home, but she could barely keep herself standing so her chances of calling magic was slim to none. She sat up on the bed and tried to call upon her magic and felt nothing in return. It was just as she thought. Her magic was depleted and that meant that Chase, Guin, and Jax were suffering as well.“I’m such a selfish asshole!” she cursed to no one in particular. How could she have let herself get this weak knowing that she had other people’s lives tied to her own? She couldn’t even remember the last time she saw anyone outside of the mansion. The echoes of protests and shouts reverberated through the walls of the stone mansion, the subjects of the coven hammered Damon and Wendy with questions regarding the whereabouts of their Queen. They shared a look of understanding as they approached the angry crowd. How were they going to explain something that they themselves didn’t know the answer to?“I understand your frustrations and your confusion. The Queen has been extremely busy handling a few pressing matters in which we cannot disclose. I assure you that she is alive and well and you will see that as soon as she is able to make an appearance,” Damon spoke as calmly as he could to the now quieted crowd.“We’re just supposed to take your word for it?” a man stepped to the front of the crowd.Damon smiled, “Your skepticism is understood, but yes at this time I ask you to take my word for it.
