With an easy familiarity, Skyler walked to the cupboard at the back of the living room and took out the first aid kit. She rifled through its contents until she found the burn cream.

Unscrewing the cap, she squeezed the cream onto the tip of a cotton bud and gently applied it to the burn on Chester's leg.

Everyone in the room was shocked, but no one said a word. They just quietly observed her actions.

Once the burn was attended to, Skyler's frown finally relaxed. She looked up gently at Chester. "The burn isn't serious. You'll be fine after a few days."
