Evelyn realized Warren had long known his mother was responsible for the near death of Simon. He just hadn't told her about it.

He pretended to be Evelyn's husband before Simon, not because he worried about her. Instead, he did it to lessen the blow of his mother's wrongdoing. After all, Gloria would legally have to bear some responsibility if Simon ended up dead.

A chill traveled down Evelyn's spine. She had slightly warmed up to Warren these past few days. Alas, those feelings vanished once she heard the truth.

Evelyn let out a self-deprecating laugh and returned to the office with the document.

Mandy sneered at Evelyn once the latter entered the office. "You've already bagged yourself the president. Do you even need the meager sum I owe you?"

Evelyn snapped out of her daze and scoffed. "You can choose not to repay me. We'll just settle it at court instead."

"You win, Evelyn! Give me your bank account number! I'll transfer it to you now." Mandy transferred the money and added
