The cigarette between Warren's fingers was nearly finished.

The ashes that carried a spark landed on the back of his hand, but he couldn't feel it.

Evelyn and Seth ended their discussion. When she came out of the room, she saw Warren's lonely figure.

She made her way to him and spoke in a soft voice. "Warren, did something happen?" asked Evelyn.

Warren's heart trembled when he heard her voice.

He immediately put out the cigarette.

After that, he forced a smile onto his face and replied, "It's nothing. I just felt like smoking. Sorry. I will be more careful in the future."

He gently pulled her into his arms and tilted his head down to kiss the top of her head.

His voice was hoarse with exhaustion when he said, "I'll go home to check up on Grandma later. Rest well. I will be back soon."
