Chapter 226

Warren grasped the hand with which Xena held the remote control.

As they rolled down the side of the hill, Warren forcefully twisted her wrist, snapping it. She screamed in pain and tossed the remote control aside.

They were rolling more and more quickly. Soon, they disappeared from everyone's line of sight.

Immediately after, there was a deafening explosion from the foot of the mountain.

Evelyn leaned over the cliff and screamed in the direction of the sound, "Warren!"

The only response she got was the echo of her own voice from the valley, as well as the billowing smoke.

Evelyn dug her fingers into the soil. The dirt broke her fingernails, but she was completely unaware of the blood spilling from her skin. She crumpled to the floor, screaming Warren's name over and over again.

Unbeknownst to her, tears were spilling down her face.

Charlie ran over to comfort her. "Ms. Jefferson, our people are already down there looking for him. I'm sure nothing will happen to Mr. Larkin."
