Chapter 75: Little Girl

“Here, little girl.” Roscoe said hoarsely as he shoved a joint and lighter into her hand.

With a watery smile, she asked her father-in-law, “What would Willie do?”

He gave a little chuckle. “He’d take a deep breath, and he’d hold it and then he’d let it all go.”

“Exactly.” She lit the joint and then took a deep draw on it, closing her eyes as memories flooded through her. There was no coughing, no harsh breathing and no odd faces. She let out her breath and then took another draw.

Opening her eyes, Evie handed it over to Cookie who took a light pull on it. She shook her head at him and then let out her smoky breath.

“Take a deep breath, son. This is not some cheap shit." The Renegades president said as he flung an arm around Evie’s shoulders. “That’s Renegades blend you have there.”

With that he led Evie away from the crowd.

“Are you happy, little girl?”

“I am, Roscoe. They are good to me.”
