I tossed and turned in my bed after being tormented in my dreams. Finding myself unable to sleep, I unlocked the door and stepped out, opening it just enough to ensure the corridor was clear. I had no idea what time it was, but I needed a breath of fresh air to help ease how I felt.
To avoid waking anyone, I went downstairs and out the back door. Thankfully, everyone was fast asleep, and I could step outside without alerting anyone.
The night's cool breeze filled my senses, and I took a deep sigh of relief as I strolled towards the garden. The sound of toads filled the night air as I moved towards the small pond, and an owl inside a tree hole hooted as I walked by.
