The sun streamed through the kitchen windows, casting a warm glow across the wooden table as Ravenna's father set down his newspaper with a satisfied sigh. "Good morning, dear," he said, looking up at her with a smile. "Sleep well?"

Ravenna nodded, still adjusting to the foreign feeling of a full stomach and a warm home. "Yes, thank you," she replied, her voice soft and hesitant. She glanced around the immaculate kitchen, taking in the copper pots hanging from the walls, the fresh flowers on the countertop, and the sound of her mother humming a gentle tune as she expertly flipped pancakes on the stovetop.

Her father, Thorn, leaned back in his chair, watching her with a fond smile. "Are you excited for the celebration tomorrow, dear?" he asked, his deep voice resonating with affection.
