Chapter 11

“You are the most shameless person I have ever met in my entire life. Who on earth apologises and, at the same time, praises herself in the process?” Alexander said. 

Tanya raised her head slowly only to see a frustrated look on Alexander's face. 

“I'm not just trying to praise myself. I'm a really beautiful lady. My beautiful reaches the stars, the moon, and the sun. Even the sun isn't as radiant as I am. My smile is like the light that brightens very dark hallway. Most men would kill just to see me smile. My eyes shine brightly like a rare piece of diamond, and my eyelashes are also very beautiful. My nose is like that of a…..” 

   “Like that of a rabbit. Can you stop praising yourself and let me talk? Who told you you are beautiful? You are the ugliest being I have ever come across.” Alexander interrupted a tanya who was busy looking for stunning poems to praise her beauty.

“What!!! Why would you say my nose is like that of a rabbit?” Tanya asked in anger.

“Because I'm sure you are a rabbit disguised in human skin, but you failed to disguise your nose well enough.” Alexander said matter-of-factly. 

     “Whh…what.. I'm not a rabbit. I'm fully human. Anyways, let's forget about the rabbit matter. Will you forgive me now? I'm really hungry.” Tanya said in a very childish voice. 

“You still haven't given me a good enough reason why I should forgive you.” 

   Tanya fell silent for a while as she wondered what reason she should tell the devil.

Seeing her not talking for about one minute, Alexander thought she was arrogant, so he scoffed and said, “It's fine if you don't want to talk. You won't eat anything in this house until you give me a reason why I should forgive you.” 

    Then Alexander walked away, leaving Tanya staring down at the floor. One thing Alexander really hated was people ignoring him, which was exactly what tanya was doing. When she had the guts to hit him to save her mother, not just once today, he thought she would be different from all the other rich kids who were spoilt rotten by their parents, but who knew she was no different from them now.

     Just as he shook his head in annoyance to stop himself from thinking about her and her annoyingly stunning face, he climbed the staircase without looking back. 

   When he reached the last step, he heard a voice from below.  “I have never bowed my head to anyone in my twenty years of existence. Also, I have never begged for anything in my life, nor have I ever begged or apologised to anyone. I have always had this pride in me since birth, and I have never broken the principle for anyone until today. You are the first person I'm sincerely apologising to.” 

    When Alexander heard her words, he turned around to look at her. Her light golden eyes were shining brightly due to the reflection of the chandelier on her face.

  Looking at her from above, Alexander felt like she saw her as weak and frail girl who would collapse if even the slightest wind blew.

For some reason, when she said the words, ‘I have always had this pride in me since birth’, he felt as if he had heard those words before. The words sound so familiar to him, but he was sure he had never heard anyone say those words to him before.

   “Your reason is a little bit reasonable.  You can eat now.” Alexander said.

Tanya's face lit up as a big smile formed on her already beautifully, stunning face. Seeing her smile, Alexander remembered what she said earlier. “My smile is like the light that brightens a very dark hallway”. Seeing her smile, Alexander felt a deep part of his heart lit up.

    Just as he turned around to go back to his room, he heard tanya say, “ Aren't you going to eat?” 

   Alexander paused for a moment and then soon regained his composure. “If I don't eat for a week, I won't die. So go back to the dining table and eat all you want to eat before i change my mind of allowing you to eat.” Then he walled away. 

   Tanya stared at his back for a while, then soon shook her head and happily jumped back to the chair to eat. She had to admit, the cook was doing wonders with the food.
