Earlier that day…

I opened my eyes and smiled as I saw the most beautiful sight in the world. My mate was sleeping peacefully next to me, her long grey hair spread over the pillow, her soft pink lips slightly parted, her round belly rising and falling with her breath.

I felt a surge of love and protectiveness for her and our unborn pups. I leaned over and kissed her forehead gently, not wanting to wake her up.

She stirred slightly and snuggled closer to me, wrapping her arm around my waist. I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer, feeling her warmth and her heartbeat. I kissed her hair and whispered in her ear, "I love you, Lily. You're my everything."
