Chapter 6

I was laying on the bed. The sounds of people laughing and enjoying themselves at Liam's birthday party down in the hall reached my ears. 'Liam is making me despise him more and more,' Frea said sadly.

The fact that my wolf had started to hate Liam was something I have never thought would happen but I knew Frea wasn't wrong. 

'I understand you,' I replied.

'No, April. We should leave him. He doesn't deserve us.' Frea said and my heart agreed with her but I can't take action right now.

I don't want my baby to grow up as a rogue amongst the wild as I had. Not to mention my child would be worse off than myself without a father. Our lives would be in danger every second as a rogue because no other pack would take the mate of the other pack's Alpha. 

I had to do something, I couldn't just wait and let them decide for me.

I helped Liam revive the pack after Alpha Jack's death and I put in a lot of work and overcame all the odds to do it.

I gave up my education and my dreams, I got A's in all my subjects in high school and I even got an offer from the best medical schools in America at the time. I grew up dreaming of becoming an MD, but he said his pack needed a Luna and he said he needed me, so I gave up everything to help him.

He was a nobody then, no one took him seriously. With my help, his pack has become one of the best packs in North America, and he was respected as a great Alpha, now he wanted me to step aside, NO WAY!

I have a share in this pack and no one can make me give it up meekly. I would hold on to what is mine, not only for my own sake but for the sake of my child.

I got up from the bed as I made my way to the closet. Rummaging through the clothes I found the dress I was looking for which Lily had gifted me.

I will go to the party. I am the one who did all the preparations then how come Stella can handle it? Liam nor Stella can handle the party, they will need me. 

The slaves won't cooperate well with Stella because of her arrogance, she doesn't even know how to manage. And neither of them is very good at socialising with other packs, and I'm the one who's been in charge of that.

I was sure that everything would get worse without my presence. Liam needs to pay for humiliating me like that when he commanded me to give my place to Stella and pretend to be sick. He’ll know that he’s wrong. 

But I'll be the one who will handle all the things before my hard work and those of other members could go to waste and I'll show Liam that he made a wrong decision by not taking me to the party.

I had already showered earlier so I wore the dress. It was a beautiful black gown that hugged my curves like a second skin. It was backless giving a flawless look. I had never worn such a revealing dress and this was the only one I have that Lily gifted me.

I did my makeup and made my hair in an elegant French twist as I pulled a few hair strands out to frame my face. Today I got ready for myself. To look good just for myself.

I twirled in front of the mirror and I looked gorgeous. 

A knock was heard, I smiled, “it’s time”. 

"Come in," I said as the door opened to reveal the beta of the pack.

"Luna, you must come, there's a total mess outside, pack needs you," He said.

"Liam chose Stella, we should believe his choice," I said calmly. Though I was ready to go to the party, I waited and listened to Beta.

"What the pack needs is you, Luna. Stella can't deal with it, she'll ruin everyone's effort." Beta said.

I gazed at him for a while and sighed, "Alright, let's go," thenI left the room with Beta right behind me.

The staff were in panic hysteria as a few were serving drinks and the others were serving starters, it wasn’t time for the starters. I felt cold and angry at the mess as I watched them for a while and observed. I descended the stairs with elegance. My gaze was down but I could feel the eyes on me.

Once I stepped down the last stair I straightened my back, putting a smile on my face. I looked up and started greeting everyone.

All eyes were on me and it was obvious I was the star of the party or so I thought because the ladies complimented me a lot, even men kept stealing glances at me but it didn't matter. I was there to look after the things and to indirectly tell Liam that he was wrong for not allowing me to attend the party.

I noticed someone's gaze drilling holes in my profile. I turned slightly to find Liam gaping at me with his lips slightly parted, there was shock all over his face and Stella who stood beside him was also looking.

I passed her a smile and gave my back to them. I loved the expression of anger on Stella's face. Call me immature or whatever but it felt good.

As everyone treats me as the Luna of the pack, no matter if Liam announces it or not, I am the Luna. I will take over the responsibility and I will handle the mess before everything goes to a bad ending.

I made my way to the kitchen and instantly the slaves' faces lit up as they saw me. There was also a mess, no coordination what was being served, they were just randomly filling the trays and taking them out. Stella gave them a lot of orders, and some of them even conflicted with each other. I sighed and instructed them what to be served at which exact time from how many waiters could do the serving and not to create chaos outside. They listened and obliged.

After my instructions I watched their work return to order. The smell of the food was getting to me, I felt nauseous and sick; probably because of pregnancy. 

I walked to the terrace for fresh air as I watched through the railing, Stella stood awkwardly beside Liam having no clue of anything and the venue wasn't in chaos like it was before my arrival. 

The ladies talked to each other and everything seemed perfectly normal, but apparently, Stella was isolated by them. After all, I have formed a great friendship with them over the last five years and everyone could see what was happening tonight.

I walked back to the kitchen and checked the things when a slave came running to me. "Alpha Liam almost got into a fight, he accused another Alpha of harassing miss Stella," The slave said. 

My eyes widened as I made my way out. I was surprised to find out it was Alpha Leon, Lily's brother, he was a gentleman. I've never seen him do anything rude to anyone.

I moved fast as I stood between the two Alphas and tried to calm them down.Leon politely apologised to me, saying there had been a misunderstanding and he just wanted to have a chat with Stella. Liam wanted to say something else, but I stopped him. Once Leon walked away I put the venue in order. I wanted to talk to Alpha Leon but Liam seemed pissed.

The rest of the party went smoothly and to my luck, it ended smoothly as everyone left and I went through the last things with the help of slaves. As Liam and I stood at the door of the packhouse to see our guests off I saw Stella's back leaving. I wonder if Leon harassed her because he wasn't that type of a man.

The party was over. Liam approached me as I made up my mind to argue if he scolded me for attending the party.

"I'm glad you came and how you handled everything. Please don't mind my earlier words about not allowing you to come to the party. I thought it would be better that way but I was wrong. You look beautiful, I love you, baby." He said, stepping closer as I sighed.

The same words, but they never come from his heart. I didn't believe his sweet talk at all. "Let’s talk about the announcement," I didn't want to take his crap and just stated my purpose.

"I needed to check on Stella," He changed the subject. I shrugged, I didn't care about it anymore.

I knew he would think carefully about it after this time, because he should realize that he was not capable of being a good Alpha without my help. The pack needs a Luna and everyone knows I am the best for the pack.

"Come back early, we need a talk," I said as he nodded and left.

I don't love my mate anymore. There are two reasons I helped him: I love the pack. The people who trust me. I had worked very hard to gain their trust and respect and also for the sake of Alpha Jack. The kindest person in my life but he left me too soon, only if he was alive today things would have been a lot better. And second I did it for my baby who was soon going to be part of this pack. My only true family. My own blood.

In my room, I changed my clothes and freshened up getting ready for bed while waiting for Liam when my phone went off. I picked up the call, it was Lily.

She told me the truth, how she felt the relationship between Liam and Stella was weird and also Stella appeared at the party at Liam's side and not me.

“What are you implying, Lily?” I asked, tiredly.

“Just listen, I tried to talk to Leon the same way Stella talks to Liam and we both felt awkward and sick to our guts, even Leon said I’ve gone crazy.” Lily said and I frowned.

“You know, it was me who asked Leon to check Stella. Leon had conserved with Stella like a gentleman and then he approached Liam expressing his admiration towards Stella. Liam got so angry he almost fought with Leon.” Lily grumbled and I gulped.

“Are you listening?” Lily asked.

“Y…yeah,” I croaked out.

“I believe there is an incestuous relationship between Stella and Liam.” Lily said in a low, serious voice.

"That's bullshit," my voice was shaky as I felt chills running down my spine.

Lily mentioned when I was harassed at the dinner party when Liam became the new Alpha, he was not valued among the Alphas at that time.

Lily made me recall that middle-aged Alpha who was harassing me and I called for Liam who simply ignored and pretended to hear nothing, Lily had come to my aid as she helped me.

"Stop, Alpha Mike. Stay within your limits," I warned the Alpha. 

"Why sweetheart, come with me to my car." The Alpha said, grabbing my wrist as I tried to free my hand. I saw Liam looking at us so I called for him to help me but he simply looked away as if he never heard me.

Before he could drag me away from there Lily had come to my aid.

Afterwards Liam apologised and made excuses; I forgave him as I always do and even defended him in front of Lily. 

But he was a man who only cared about himself, and I should have realised this sooner and stopped fooling myself.

After the call ended, Liam still hasn't returned. It’s already midnight…

Lily's words haunted my mind.

I took a deep breath, quietly got out of my room and made my way toward Stella's room silently.

My heart was pumping faster. My brows knitted together when I heard a muffled noise from her room. I tried to hear clearly when I heard Liam’s raspy voice followed by Stella’s moans.

I was certain they were lustful noises and my heart ceased to beat for a second.
