Chapter 43: Never Her Lover, Never Her Hero

Ansel was grateful Giro didn’t come gawking at him after the latter saw him exiting the guest house.

His Beta just threw him a glance as he conversed with his sister.

He knew Alain went out as he no longer sensed the lingering dark presence in the house. But the Fire Moon Alpha staggered to a halt, not later than five minutes since he was walking away from the guest house and into the packhouse.

He sensed someone following him.

And as Ansel took a step backward, he was right with his guess. A huge body blocked behind him. Someone with a dark gaze and venomous smile.

“Good Evening, Alpha Ansel.” Beta Razel, Alain’s most loyal dog as far as he observed, cocked his head to the side in a greeting to him.

But Ansel did no such greeting. He only looked at him. Stared at him.

“Out of the leash so soon, Razel?” His gaze drifted behind the Beta as if he'd found Alain lurking there. “Where’s your Alpha?”
