CADE

The ride back home was long and quiet, the only sound to be heard, the hum of the engine,the soft whooshing of the wind outside and the occasional honking from impatient drivers. My mind was a jumble of thoughts, consumed by the events that had just transpired.I adjusted my tie, so I could breathe properly. I felt my chest contract, as if the memories of what Hannah had done back there were suffocating me. I tried to focus on the present moment, but my thoughts kept drifting back to her.

I couldn't think of anything else besides why Hannah had humiliated us. How could she do this? What came over her? The questions swirled in my head, refusing to let go. I kept replaying the scene in my mind, trying to make sense of it all. Was she forced? I shook my head, discarding the idea. There was no way anyone could get to her to threaten her, not with the tight security she was under. No, this was her decision, and it stung like a betrayal.
