Chapter 006

HANNAH

I looked on as two of the guys tackled Asher. It was surprising because they did not hesitate before hitting him. For the first time, no one cared about Asher and his fucking status in the pack. They just held him down, and he tried to fight them off. Obviously, it was a lost fight for him. He was no match for one of the brothers, talk more of two of them.

"Should we help him?" Mace asked, but I shook my head. This was the only moment I had to watch him have a taste of his own medicine. There was a slight chance he would come after me later and punish me for what happened. But at least he would be doing that with bruises.

One of the triplets, the one who had picked up my books for me, held my hand and tried to pull me away from the scene. I resisted initially because even though they saved me, I knew nothing about them besides the rumours floating around the school. And for all I knew, they could be even worse than Asher, and I was jumping from a bad situation to a more terrible one.

He stopped to look at me, his expression showing that he understood why I was hesitant. I still didn't move, unsure of what to do. His brothers had left Asher alone, and as he stood up, I heard him cussing at them. I had only a few moments to decide whether to go with them or remain with Asher.

When Asher finally clocked on what was happening, seeing our hands together, he turned his cussing to me.

"Hannah, don't move an inch with him! Don't disobey me!" He barked like he hadn't been beaten to a pulp already. "Bitch! Listen to me!"

Those words sealed my decision, and I turned on my heels and left. The brothers followed behind, which only seemed to annoy Asher more. He began yelling profanities as we walked away, much to my embarrassment since many students were now staring at me.

I knew he couldn't do anything since I was with the 'Wallace brothers' and he seemed really scared of them after what happened, but that didn't stop me from feeling extremely embarrassed.

I lowered my head and made myself as small as possible as we walked out of the hallway. Several students stopped to stare at me in shock, but their reaction didn't surprise me. I also had questions, and I doubted reality as the seconds passed.

It was impossible that these three beautiful strangers would be my mate, right? Not one but all of them. And why did they stand up for me? No one had ever done that, especially not people who had known me for less than half an hour.

We headed to the basketball court with all the questions in my head.

When we got there, they headed straight for the bleachers and made me sit before surrounding me, watching me as if I was some sort of experiment or alien, which I might be to them. I doubt they'd ever seen someone as poor and dejected as I was.

"Hello, Hannah" The guy who had taken my hand spoke up. Even though I had heard him speak earlier, his voice still sounded extremely rich and smokey. He spoke in a manner that showed he was sure of himself, which was extremely rare to see in anyone.

I didn't respond because I was still worried about why they saved me. I had been groomed to fear people with power, especially people like them, who could turn my life upside down—more than it already was.

I saw them share a glance amongst themselves, silently communicating. The one who spoke earlier turned back to me and addressed me again. "That's your name, right? You're Hannah?"

I nodded, and he looked relieved that he had gotten a response from me after all.

"You can speak, you know? We aren't going to hurt you. We just want to get to know you better," he said again.

Yeah, right.

Most of the people who had bullied me had started off like that, wanting to know me. I knew the drill, so there was no point in pretending. There was no one other than my parents who truly wanted to know me out of the kindness of their hearts, and these guys didn't look or feel any different.

"If you're going to reject me, you don't need to be all nice about it. Let's just get this done and over with. It would save all of us a considerable amount of time." They looked at me as if I had said something shocking or out of place.

"Why would you think that? We have no reason to reject you. Why would anyone want to reject you?" Their expressions were a mixture of concern and worry, something I had never seen in anyone other than my parents, and that confused me. There was no way they were being sincere, right?

"Except Asher did." I muttered under my breath, but they still heard.

"And I personally think Asher is a fool." The guy on my right said, but I scoffed. They really didn't need to go this far before rejecting me. It made me feel hopeful, but I didn't like it. I would rather take it directly and immediately than watch them pretend to care.

"Look, you might not know this, but I'm just an omega with no place in the pack. I am nothing but a disgrace, and you are all going to be Alphas, and I'm certain you don't want to be mated to someone who would only disgrace and embarrass you everywhere you turn, right?" I said and watched them again, looking for traces of their facade cracking.

The guy on my right laughed and held my hand. "Look, Hannah. Where we come from, everyone has power, and everyone has a place. You're not a disgrace, and we are never going to reject you. At least, I wouldn't. I don't know about my stupid brothers." He said, looking at them before laughing again.

"I'm Jace. Jace Wallace," he added as he dropped my hand. His brothers introduced themselves in turn. Cade was the guy who held my hand when I was with Asher, and Chase was the third brother.

"So, you're not going to reject me?" I asked again, and they nodded with a smile. Tears immediately welled up in my eyes, but I forced them back. For several seconds, I had to remind myself that I wasn't dreaming.

All my life, I'd felt useless and unworthy of love because of how everyone treated me. And now, I was being claimed by one of the most breathtaking boys I'd ever set my eyes on. And the best part was they wanted me.
