Jovita's POV

My besties listened as I relayed the event of the evening to them. Anne had a horror look on her face, and Maddie's was twisted with worry.

“Where did you meet Uriel?” Maddie asked. It just dawned on me that I had never told my besties about Uriel, but Jayden knew every detail.

“I met him when I was in New York”.

“And that was about how many years ago?” Anne asked.

I did a mental calculation.

“Sixteen years ago”.

“And he claims to still have feelings for you? The dude is quite persistent”, Maddie said angrily. I could tell she hated Uriel.

“Why did he leave, and why did you leave New York, you never told, give us the whole story”, Anne said.

“That's true, you never told us why you came to Forktown”, Maddie said. It looked like she was just processing Anne's words.

“Fine, fine, I'd tell the story. It's been a long time ago, and I was little so it's all quite vague”.

“Go ahead”, Anne prompted, her face glowing with interest.
