Chapter 180

Blake did as he was told, helped her to the bathroom, and left her. Claire then slowly lowered herself into the tub, and when the water touched her sore spot, it stung, and a little blood was released into the water. When she finished, she felt a little better and was startled by Blake waiting for her by the door. He helped her back to the bed. On the vanity was her breakfast. When she was settled, he brought her meal to her. Claire looked at the vanity, then remembered the two wine glasses left the night before. She looked at him, was touched by his kindness, and felt remorse for her actions.

“Rest today. I’ll tend to you till you get better.” Blake said as he walked away.

Julie entered after Blake left and shut the door.

“How are you feeling? Did something happen last night?”

“Mom, I’m fine. I just pulled a muscle, and I’ll be better when I rest for a while.” Claire put on a tough face.

“That’s good. Your appointment with the doctor tomorrow can’t be rescheduled.” Julie said, leavin
