Anastasia's POV

“Daughter! My precious daughter!” my father bawled as he tried to go near me.

With just a few steps away from me, the werewolf with light brown hair kicked his knee making him fall to the ground.

“Do not make the girl uncomfortable, old hag” I heard him threateningly whisper to my father. He then smiled at me brightly, hiding his bloodied hands behind his back.

“Oh you would not know how worried I am about you,” he said as fake tears roll down his cheeks

         ‘Award-winning act’

“Worried… he was being protected by those other guys while the girl is left alone. Dude seriously think we will believe that?” the black-haired werewolf whispered to the light brown-haired one.

“Pfft” the man beside me snorted.

I redirected my attention to my father who continued to weep in front of me.

‘He might think that staying close to me would let him escape this situation as these wolves have been strangely friendly towards me’

As soon as I realized his intentions, my disgust for this dirtbag reached a higher level. My face distorted into a frown when I saw his face full of fake tears as he continually calls for my attention.

“Daughter? Really? Just a while ago, you don’t see our blood relation enough reason to not sacrifice me though” I said with contempt.

‘I might be risking my life by acting all arrogant but if ever I would survive this shit, it would definitely be without this son of a bitch’

The air became prickly. The already cold night wind seems to be colder as silence once again befalls this place.

My father already stopped acting and looked at me as if he did not expect me to do that. His eyes seem to imply that I put both of us in danger by acting up.

“One less evil would do good for the world, Father,

I told him which ignited his rage toward me.

He attempted to stand up and attack me which ultimately failed as the two werewolves beside him forcefully pushed him to the ground. I even saw a gash appearing in his forehead and blood dripping out of it but they don’t seem to loosen their grip.

“Ouch,” I mumbled as I felt a sudden pain in my waist.

“Sorry” the man beside me whispered as he loosen his grip on it.

As I feel the man beside me take deep breaths, I saw the expressions of the other wolves – full of contempt, disgust.

“Kill right?” the black werewolf coldly asked

“It is not up to us, unfortunately,” the light brown one replied calmly, or at least he tried to act calm.

As the black werewolf seems to be ready to raise hell and pour out reasons why killing my father would be the right choice, I felt the grip of the hand on my waist tighten a little – a gesture that seems to suggest that I have the power over this decision.

“No, no… I am just joking earlier my daughter. It is how we bond in my estate! I am sorry if you find it not entertaining enough but I will surely do better. You know father loves you, no?” my father said in his last attempt to tug at my heart.

“Don’t you need a sacrifice, Father? I hope the goddess would be satisfied with you” I coldly said.

The werewolves beside him both chuckled and yanked my father’s body toward the altar. The man beside me then tugged me closer to him, probably to comfort me.

“I am okay now, thank you very much,” I said as I smiled at him sincerely. I then lightly pushed his hands away which he did drop as I stand on my own.

The tingling sensation and the exaggerated bathumps of this heart of mine whenever this man is near still making me uncomfortable. I am indeed very thankful for how gentle and thoughtful he has been but he is still a dangerous person.

“Are you guys going to kill me too?” I asked as I saw the two werewolves already heading in our direction, wiping their bodies frantically as if the blood from my father made them feel dirty.

The black-haired one raised his eyebrows and answered as if my question was uncalled for.

“Nah! The alpha already gave his order to keep you safe”

‘Alpha? Is it a rank or something?’

“So you will release me right?” I asked, hopeful.

“No” the man beside me answered quite dismissively as he walked away from me and towards the other two werewolves.

Anastasia's POV I looked at him, slightly panicking. “Wha – No! Why?” I said, voice rising a little. “I did not intentionally come here! I did not even think of this place when I am planning my escape!” I might have forgotten how scary their strengths and appearances were earlier with my sudden outburst but this is my freedom we are talking about here. “Look, I am sincerely thankful for killing that bastard and letting me live but I really don’t see any reason for you to not release me” I added. My outbursts were not without reason. I am trying out the waters before planning my next actions. If they would still not show hostility towards me even after I shout and cause hysteria, I can try a few more extreme measures to ensure my safety. If they would show any form of hostility, I would tone it down and even try begging. The three of them were whispering with each other, expressions clearly showing that they do not care about

Sebastian's POV “This is the first time I have seen Rozen laugh this much” Dane whispered beside me, scrutinizing the sudden bloom of the Alpha’s positive mood. I simply nodded, also confused. I have known Rozen for over nineteen years but this indeed is the first time that he shows such a sincere smile. That guy has always been cold and have his signature poker face ever since three years old. We’ve been friends for such a long time but I can only recall him giving me mocking grins, sarcastic ones, or those that are forced. This guy has been weird ever since we went inside that temple thing – no actually, he is weird even before that. --- “Dane and I would be the ones patrolling today right?” I asked We are currently inside the conference room having our weekly meeting. “Why the need for the two of you to move together?” asked Roxanne, Dane's mother, one of the elders in our pack. "Just my son's strength a

Sebastian's POV "Okay... Why exactly do you want to go?" I asked Rozen who is currently behind Dane and me. We are now walking into this vast forest as we planned on starting the patrol from the highest point of the mountain range before working our way down. "Precaution" he simply answered "Stop playing, dude! Those elders may not be able to say anything about you but not us! You would not even get out of your chambers even when we beg you to come with our patrols and yet you just impulsively decided to go now???" Dane pries which I silently agree on. Rozen is a hands-on alpha but patrolling has never been part of his responsibilities. He always says that his time would rather be spent in his room doing whatever work he is doing and in the training hall. "I don't know, really. Just had the urge to come" he nonchalantly replied "Shut up, Dane. Your annoying voice is disturbing this peaceful walk" he

Anastasia's POV I woke up in a room unfamiliar to me. Sage green painted walls, a small chandelier in the middle of the room, two large windows making the whole room well lit, multiple plants in every corner and windowsill, and some nature-themed decorations. This whole room is what I expect to see in a room in the middle of the forest. 'The bed is also very soft. When I became rich I would want my room to be this warm, refreshing, and comfortable looking.' "Is it up to your taste?" a sudden voice from the room's entrance uttered Following the source of the voice, my eyes met the beautiful smirking man leaning at the room's door. His chuckle made me realize that my hands were still on my chest from my reaction to his sudden voice earlier which I frantically removed and then glared at him. "You like the room?" he asked again, not dropping the subject. "It is nice..." I replied, my voice fading out. 'Hi

Anastasia's POV The lunch prepared is, with no exaggeration, a feast! There were all kinds of delightfully looking dishes that I don't even know existed. The best dish that I have ever tasted is a piece of chicken given to me by a vendor which I only seasoned and fried, the smell and look? Divine! The taste? Even better... but even that dish can't seem to even compare to the dishes on this long table. All varieties of meat like pork, beef, chicken, fish, and those expensive seashells are served with such enticing scent and look. There are even fresh fruits! "Would this be my last meal?" I unconsciously uttered All of them stopped in their tracks and looked at me, expressions different from one another. Dane looked at me as if he is weirded out by me, Sebastian looked like he is genuinely concerned with my way of thinking, and Rozen looked like he have lots of questions to ask "We already told you we won't kill you right?" said Sebastian

Anastasia's POV That single sentence seems to shake my whole strong facade. I felt how my limbs lost every strength and how my eyes seem to moisten. 'So he has someone...' That single sentence managed to hurt me as much or even worse as knowing that my father wishes for my death. 'I knew trusting and hoping would not do me any good' I heard the voices of both Dane and Sebastian but I can't seem to comprehend anything that they are saying. Nothing is going in my head aside from what I just heard from the people outside. With no more awareness of time, I don't know how long it took for me to regain my composure. I closed my eyes tightly, stabilize my breathing, and unclenched my hands. "Hey! Cutie? Camille is no one okay? It was not even finalized!" Dane frantically said "I don't really care, Dane. Thank you for the explanation though" I answered with a smile assuring him that it does not bother me

Anastasia's POV Rozen seems to be taken aback by my question. He thought briefly and seem to decide that hiding the answer from me would be the best idea. "You might not like the answer," he said with a somewhat sad smile "How sure are you?" I asked, provoking him "Just a thought" he shrugged before standing up. "You know I won't settle for that answer" I pried more "I know" he sighed and went back to sit beside me "Us, wolves, have this concept that a person would be forever bound to someone – a mate." he started explaining "And? There seems to be no problem with that. It actually seems romantic" I uttered "Mates will feel such strong attraction to their other half – what both of us are currently feeling with each other. The one week of not talking with each other nor even seeing each other made it much worse. I thought that this might as well be my punishment for being caught up in my own feelings. With no one to share my meals with, I requested to have them in the room Rozen gave me. I would rather be alone than be the center of everyone's hate. Another week went by with my time being spent in this jail-like room. Dane's POV "What a great day!" I cheerfully said as I stretched out my arms and inhaled the fresh scent of this beautiful day. "I would have agreed if not for your stinking breath polluting this place" a grumpy voice from behind me suddenly uttered. I faced Sebastian and speedily reached my hand out to punch his face which of course he easily avoided. This guy always comes and ruins such a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere. "I seriously just brushed my teeth!?" I bawled. "How? You are currently talking and attempting to punch me... There is also no toothbrush in sight" he sarcastically replied while putting emphasis on attempting. 'Now don't misunderstand! I'm not landing a punch because I can't but because I didn't want to! This guy is sensitive. I can't just make him question his worth as this pack's beta if I would easily beat him' "I know you are having such delusional thoughts that you are only d

Sebastian's POV "This is like a cave, dude" Dane whispered beside me, and as much as I wished to disagree, I saw myself slightly nodding from his statement. Anastasia's room seems to be something that doesn't house a human or at least was not housing a human for a whole 5 years. It is dark and exceptionally well kept like no one has been using it. No sign of life, aside from the plants that at least seem to be taken care of, can be felt. This just screams gloominess. I looked at Anastasia who is now sitting in a rather uncomfortable manner on the sofa, face blank and the distinct stiffness present. 'She seems too detached from the whole room, like she doesn't belong... like she shouldn't have been here' Dane and I looked at each other, both feeling unsure of what to do from this point onwards. We are still standing near the room's door and doing nothing but observing the situation. Even the usual loud mouth of Dane is unusually s

Anastasia's POV "Is she bluffing??! There is no information about rejected mates in the books I've seen. And what does she mean already rejected two? Mates are said to be extremely hard to come by!" I frustratingly pull my hair as I pace back in forth in my room. "But Rozen said that mates are a bond of forever right? So how can it be rejected? No... do I actually trust the words of that fake b*tch?" I continued to anxiously pace around the room. I don't even know nor do I understand why I am currently reacting like this. This whole overreaction isn't like me! No, actually all of these emotions whirling and causing havoc inside me are not like me at all! "Rozen told me that Camille is no one... I should probably wait for his explanation about the previous mates and put my trust in him" The trio are the only ones I personally know in this place.
