"You came after so many days! I missed you so much," Ms. Anastasia said while kissing Esen's forehead. "That day, Emily was saying that you had to come. I kept waiting, but you seemed to have forgotten the way to our house."

"No, Gran, what are you talking about?" said Esen while hugging her. "Why should I forget the way to your house? As you are Emily's grandmother, you are also my grandmother. I was supposed to ask about your health that day, but Emily told me that you were having dinner with Lowell. She was quite happy about it, so I didn't want to spoil your family's private moment."

A few slits appeared on Ms. Anastasia's forehead when she heard the name 'Lowell.' Unknowingly, she touched the thread tied on her left foot, as if to reassure herself that it was still there.

"Where is Emily?" Esen asked, even though she knew that Emily would not be at home at this time. Ever since she had that dream, she tried to have little or no contact with Emily.

"Tomorrow is her birthday, so to
