Derek sat outside the door, his heart heavy with regret. Each minute stretched on, his mind racing with thoughts of how to mend his relationship with his wife. He replayed their earlier argument in his head and then realized he was in the wrong. If he was in Gemma’s shoes he would also have the same reaction or even worse. Keeping things about her life from her didn't speak good of him and he knew that. He cared for Gemma deeply, and was willing to set things right again, only if she would agree to open the door.

Sighing, he stood up, driven by an impulse to reach out to her. Taking a deep breath, he knocked gently on their bedroom door.

“Gemma?” he called softly. “Can we talk, please?”

Gemma didn't say a word, but he refused to give up.

“I know you need space, but I think we need to communicate. Please, just a few minutes?” He earnestly begged.

The door remained shut, and his heart sank again. He paced the hallway, his mind in a turmoil. He wouldn't be able to sleep this nigh
