~Avery~ My hands gripped the steering wheel tightly as I stared ahead at the car that just blocked my path. Could it be Ella again? Haven't I taught her enough manners for today? I had promised to pick up my little princess today after school since I was unable to take her to school today all because I was falsely arrested by the police. Sighing, I carefully pulled off my seatbelt and pushed the car door open, I could also see the figure at the other car copying my movement. Once I was fully out of my car, I approached the other car since the owner was taking the whole time in the world to get out. As I drew closer to the car, the figure turned out to be masculine rather than feminine. So if it wasn't Ella then who was it? The door opened and a tall figure stepped out of the car. My eyes rounded in surprise. Scott? Well.. my guess wasn't wrong either after all, there wasn't much difference between him and his pathetic wife. I snorted at my thought and proceeded to him.
~Avery~As soon as Allison sighted my car, she bounced up from the wooden bench she had been sitting on for God knows how long. If only Scott hadn't made my go through that long route, I'd have been here on time. She flapped her hand up and down in excitement while running towards my car. So much excitement for her first day in a new school. I slowed down and parked at a nice spot.Unfastening my seat belt, I stepped out of the car only for her to crash into me.“Mummy!!” I crouched down to her height and engulfed her into an embrace, a deep soothing one. I pulled away from her after a few seconds with my hands resting on her shoulders. From her bubbly expression, I could tell that she had a fun day today. Or maybe she must have done something naughty or epic. I knew my daughter so well. She was the mischievous type. “Woah.. Ally, you look so happy.. did you make new friends?” I stood up. Taking her small hand, I helped her get into the car's backseat and got in after her.“Yes I m
~Avery~Glancing to my side, I took a peek at Allison's face, she hadn't spoken or said anything to me since we hit the road. I noticed she avoided staring in my direction. It felt like she was hesitating to tell me something.Few seconds more into the overbearing silence, I heard my phone ring, with one hand on the steering wheel, I used the other to search for my phone buried deep down in my purse.Once I was successfully able to reach for it, I took it out.“Hey Dad..” Dad didn't say a word until a few seconds later. My wild instincts kicked off immediately. Something must have happened, or is still happening “Avery…the board members are becoming more persistent, they didn't support the idea of rescheduling the meeting” I sighed in relief. So that was it? Those oldies better know who they were dealing with. Dad might have been the down to earth happy man when he was still the president, but I'm not like dad. I can be down to earth too but…not to the point where people step over
Hello dearies and happy new month 💙💙💙 This book hasn't been so consistent with updates in the last few days due to some personal stuff happening but from this new month, updates will be consistent. Thanks 💙💫
~Avery~My head was in chaos but I tried my very best to keep a neat smile on my face. Never in my wildest dream did I plan to meet Ella in my daughter's school. I guess fate has its way of bringing people together. It turned out that she was the mother of the boy Allison had bullied the previous day. Now that I was here, I felt a little bit guilty about scolding Allison. This mother and son don't deserve any sympathy at all.My grip on her hand further tightened. This was the same hand she had tried to use on my child and I wasn't going to spare her for that mistake. I applied a much stronger force on her wrist twisting it until I heard a small snap.“Argh!!” “Apologize!” I ordered still holding firm to her wrist. Beads of sweat settled on her forehead, her face twisted in pain. She was still so arrogant to apologize for her wrong doings. Good! I was more arrogant than she was. Until she apologizes to me, I'd release her from the torture. “Sorry!” Ella screamed in agony before pul
~Avery~Deep black eyes. Ink black hair and a well chiselled face. These features, I was once well familiar with them. It was the face I woke up next to gazing upon every morning. But all that was once upon a time. All that was left were just the bitter memories. I stood there trying to catch my breath.“Avery” His deep voice called out sending shivers down my spine. Once I had regained my senses, I placed both hands against his chest and pushed him with all my strength, the farthest he could go away from me was barely two steps backwards. He just scared the crap out of me. But most importantly, what the fuck was he doing at my company? How dare he show his face to me again? “What the hell do you want?!” I demanded sending him cold stares. Suddenly realizing how loud I had been a while ago, I looked around hoping no one was around.“Avery I need to speak with you..Let's go somewhere private to-A snort left my lips before he could complete his words. “Private? Mr Brandon..aren't yo
~Avery~ Ella's face turned a light shade of red under my scrutinizing gaze. What do they really think of me? Of course my words about her family was very correct infact. They all had a criminal record well except for her or maybe she hadn't been caught in the act yet.Lucy's gaze was fierce, her eyes almost drilled a hole on my face. I didn't have the time to exchange words with them now. Or more like, I didn't want to exchange words with Lucy. She had been a good mother-in-law when I was still married to Scott. Unfortunately, I had no idea why she had changed so much.“Excuse me?! Do you have any idea of what you just said? You dared to insult my family?” I rolled my eyes at her pointless question. Yes! I insulted her family because she did the same to mine. “Ella.. I've never interfered in your affairs with Scott..but you have a lot of problems with me.. don't you ever get tired? I know I'm awesome and an amazing fellow..but you just have to lessen your excitement whenever you se
~Ella~ The breakfast table was empty when I got down a few minutes ago. This was obviously because Scott was still at the hospital and Ken left for school earlier. I was still on my casual home wear. A pair of ash jogger pants and a black tank top. I had just finished my yoga practice for the day. This morning couldn't be any more blissful than it already was now. I settled on one of the white couch in the broad living room with a coffee mug on my left hand, it's been a while since I had some time alone to myself and I wasn't about to trade it for anything. I mentally noted to visit Scott at the hospital in the next one hour. Raising the mug to my lips, the warm liquid seeped slowly into my mouth. My throat bobbled as I swallowed relishing the after taste with a smack of my lips. “Hmm..perfect” Few minutes into this perfect pin drop silence that enveloped the whole building, I heard the sound of a car pulling in disrupting the peace I was slowly getting used to. My brows fu
~Avery~ My brain shut down completely as his lips lingered on mine. He must have noticed my frozen state which made him pull away. I was too shocked to speak or blink. A part of me wanted this to last longer. That selfish part in me craved his touch desperately. “I'm not sorry about that. You've always been mine from the beginning” I sucked in a deep breath. My cheeks burned in embarrassment as his eyes fell back on mine. This was wrong, I couldn't afford to make the same mistake again by trusting Scott. The world already knew me as Stephen's soon to be bride. I couldn't put his reputation on the line like that, Stephen was one of the closest people to me. Without him, I wouldn't have made it this far. “I've already started a life with Stephen and I'll only advice you to focus on your life with Ella and your son because few weeks from now, Stephen and I will be getting married” I saw his expression changed from a pitiful gaze to a very annoyed look. He stood up from the chair
~Avery~Ah! My head hurt so much. I lazily scanned my surroundings which appeared to be a basement to a building. I tried to move but suddenly realized that I was strapped to a chair. I couldn't scream either because a tape was on my lips.Realizing that I've just been kidnapped, panic struck within me. Different thoughts ran through my mind on who could be responsible and why? But it all draws down to one answer.I tried moving my wrists against each other as they were tied behind the chair I occupied. This position wasn't favorable to my wrist or feet strapped to the chair.I rocked back and forth on the wooden chair to make some screech on the ground, that way it would attract whoever kidnapped me.Not too long, I heard a firm and slow footstep approaching me. The nearer the sounds drew closer to me the more I was scared for my life. What if they kill me? There wasn't any sane thoughts left in my head anymore.A screeching sound against the ground accompanied the footstep approach
~Avery~All throughout the night I kept turning and tossing on my bed. My mind drifting back to the encounter with Scott. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't shake off this unsettling feeling creeping in at the back of my mind. What does he really want? Was he trying to tell me something? But what more could he say to me other than what I had witnessed myself? There was no point giving him a chance to speak when all he does is to tell lies.“Get out of my thought Scott” ***The next morning, I woke up to the sound of little whispers next to me. My eyelids fluttered open. The view that came before my face was blurry but I could make out two figures peering at me intently with little giggles at intervals.“She’s waking up!” My eyes cleared up in an instant. I sat up with a deep crease on my forehead. Before me stood Allison and Stephen. Only the heavens knew how long they have been standing there and watching me sleep. I tucked my face down into my bent elbow to wipe off any trace o
~Ella~My heart almost leaped out of my chest at the sudden crash next to me. I shuddered when Scott grabbed me by the shoulder. He sent cold glares to my face. “For the last time Ella! How did that little girl end up here?!” His voice was hoarse and chilly. With every word he spat out, I could see the anger he was trying to push down.He had been like this since the previous day trying to get an answer from me but I wasn't going to give myself away. That was just like stabbing yourself in the foot.Avery ought to have involved the Cops in this matter by now. That was the reason I brought her daughter back home. If she files a complaint against him, his image would be ruined and tarnished in the face of the public. No one can ever recover completely from that. Not even Scott. He'd eventually learn to hate Avery and her daughter.“How would I know that? I only learnt about her daughter yesterday after she came here. I'm also as confused as you are Scott. Why don't you believe my word
~Avery~My eyes narrowed down at Ella who was openly challenging me. There was nothing anyone would say to convince me that Allison wasn't here. Scott couldn't do anything. He just stood there staring at me with the most confused face I had ever seen on a person. His face wasn't about to fool me now. My baby girl was in this house and I'm gonna find her.I turned to the direction of the stairs and started walking towards it slowly. My ankle still hurt a lot but I was more desperate to find my Ally. I didn't know what Scott wanted to do but I heard a deep grunt which made me peek over my shoulder.Stephen was no longer where he was standing. He was holding back Scott from coming to me. I averted my gaze and continued walking away slowly.I've lost count of how many turns I took. The house I thought I was familiar with was now difficult for me to navigate properly. If I remembered correctly, Scott's room was two rooms away from the balcony. That was the same room we both shared as a hu
~Ella~If there was anything I loved the most, it was to see Scott suffer because of Avery's sake. My poor dumb husband, I felt some kind of pity for him. But whatever Avery was doing benefitted me in many ways.Scott was always in need of a shoulder to cry on and who else is best when it comes to this other than your wife? I knew instantly that I needed to make a drastic move after Scott threatened to spill my real identity to everyone.I took a glance out of the glass. It was a little bit difficult to spot Ken in the midst of several kids running around while they waited for their respective parents to pick them up. Knowing fully well the kid I gave birth to, I instantly assumed that be must be at a corner with his little gang of friends bullying another weaker kid like he always does.I've received countless of reports about him concerning his naughty ways, I wasn't proud of it but I couldn't lay a hand on my precious boy or scold him. So things had to be that way as long as no o
~Avery~My eyes never left Stephen's face even for a mere second. Although, he was avoiding my stares. I just needed like five minutes to explain everything that I wanted him to know. “Stephen I-He tore his gaze away from mine and placed the white bowl on the nightstand table. He had been feeding me the soup mum made for me but I doubt he'd be doing that again since I brought up the topic.“The doctor said you need plenty of rest” He jerked to his feet. He pulled the white duvet over my feet up to my belly. “Get some rest. I have some work to do” I held his arm before he could walk away. My head tilts to the side while I gaze at him with the most sincerest look on my face.“You deserve to be angry. I kept something so important away from you. But the truth is that I tried to tell you but I couldn't find the courage to do so” I paused a bit to find out if he was ready to listen and when I did, I continued. “I'm sorry Stephen. But you need to know that Scott and I parted ways years
~Ella~Was I happy? Yes of course! Even though my intial plan to attack Avery didn't go well last night at least she gave Scott the final blow to his face. He was so torn apart last night to sleep or react to anything. And as always, his doting wife, which was me, was by his side all night long to watch him suffer more in pain. I love Scott a lot but he was just making me look like a fool. If only he had any idea of what deeds I've done so far to get him.“Once we are in…don't say or do any thing” He warned sternly.I turned my head to him and gave a nod. He unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped out of the car leaving me to ponder hard on my thoughts. Taking a glimpse outside of the glass, I peeked at the tall building. The hospital..Who were we here to see? I guess I have to find things out by myself. I opened the door and stepped out. Scott was a few steps away from me and by the way he was in a hurry to go in, I had a feeling we were here to see the one person I hated the most.I ha
~Avery~“Stephen…” How much has he heard? It pained me so much to see the look of betrayal in his eyes. There's no one else to be blamed but me. I should have informed him at the earliest but I didn't if not, things would have turn out differently..“Stephen I swear I can explain everything to you-Stephen took a step backward as soon I took a step towards him. He shook his head slowly with a sardonic smile on his lips. It was really hurting me deeply to see him this way. How I wished I could turn back the hands of the clock. I'd have prevented this from happening. He deserved to know the truth.“You think it was fair to keep this away from me? I've always known there was something about the Brandon's that you were hiding. I guess I'm not so lucky” His words broke me. It felt like several knives were being jabbed into my heart at the same time. How could I be so foolish?“I was going to tell you tonight believe me…” My vision was getting blurry as a few balls of water rolled out o
