"Princess! Wake up!"
My eyes snapped open. Sunlight streamed through silk curtains, and I was lying in... a massive bed? "Princess, you'll be late for breakfast. Your father is waiting." Father? I sat up slowly, my head spinning. The last thing I remembered was Xavier's sword, the burning pain, and then... darkness. But I wasn't dead. And this wasn't the servants' quarters. I looked around the luxurious chamber, my hands trembling as I touched the silk nightgown I was wearing. A large mirror across the room showed my reflection - the same red hair, violet eyes, and porcelain skin. But instead of a maid's uniform, I was dressed like... royalty? "Princess?" I turned toward the voice and nearly fell off the bed. There, wearing a maid's uniform and looking concerned, was Kira. "Are you alright, Your Highness?" She asked, bowing slightly. "You look pale." I couldn't breathe. Kira, the woman who had helped murder me , was now my maid? What kind of twisted game was this? "I'm... fine," I managed to say. "Just a strange dream." "Let me help you dress," she moved toward the wardrobe. "The delegation from the werewolf realm arrives today. You'll want to look your best when you meet your betrothed." "My what?" I yelled. "Prince Xavier, of course." Kira smiled, pulling out a beautiful gown. "Though I heard his father, King Franklin, will be accompanying him this time. Quite unusual for the Alpha King to make such a trip himself." I gripped the bedsheets tightly. Xavier. Franklin. They were coming here. But everything was different... The Moon Goddess had answered my prayer. She'd given me a second chance, but not in the way I'd expected. I was no longer the helpless omega maid. I was the crown princess of the witch realm. "Princess?" Kira's voice pulled me from my thoughts. "We really should hurry. The blue gown or the emerald one?" I stared at the dresses she held up. "The blue one," I said quietly. "There," Kira stepped back after helping me dress and fixing my hair. "You look beautiful, Your Highness." I studied my reflection. The elegant blue gown, fitted perfectly, everything about me screamed royalty. But inside, I still felt like that scared little maid. "Shall we go? Your father doesn't like to be kept waiting." I nodded, following her out of my chambers. As the dining hall doors opened, my heart nearly stopped. A tall man with graying hair and kind eyes looked up from his breakfast. "Ah, there's my little witch," he smiled warmly. "I was worried you'd sleep through the entire morning." "Father," I whispered, the word feeling strange on my tongue. He signal me to seat beside him. "Come, sit. I settled into the chair, watching as servants, laid out plates of fresh fruit and pastries. My father reached out and squeezed my hand. "Nervous about meeting your betrothed?" he asked. "I..." What could I say? That I already knew Xavier? That in another life, he'd murdered me? "Yes, a little." "Don't be. If that wolf prince isn't good enough for you, we'll call the whole thing off." He winked. "Though having the Alpha King himself accompany him is... interesting." I nearly choked on my tea. "King Franklin is coming too?" "Indeed. First time he's left his realm in decades." Father studied my face. "Are you sure you're feeling well? You seem very tired." "Yes," I managed a smile. "When do they arrive?" "This afternoon." He set down his fork. "Giselle, you know you can tell me if something's bothering you, right? You slept in your room throughout yesterday and you look.. “I’m fine dad,” I assured him. "The delegation has arrived, Your Highness." Kira's voice interrupted my conversation with Father. My heart pounded as I followed the guards to the grand entrance hall. I'd rehearsed this moment in my head all morning, but nothing prepared me for actually seeing them again. Xavier entered first, just as handsome as I remembered, but his smile now made my stomach turn. He bowed deeply. "Princess Giselle." I forced myself to curtsy, fighting back the urge to scream at him. "Prince Xavier." Then *he* walked in. King Franklin. In my past life, I'd only glimpsed him from afar , But now... His golden eyes locked with mine, and something electric shot through me. "Princess." His deep voice sent shivers down my spine. "Your Majesty." I managed to keep my voice steady. "I see the rumors of your beauty weren't exaggerated," he said, stepping closer. Heat crept up my neck. What was happening? This wasn't the cold, distant king I remembered. "Thank you," I whispered, unable to look away from his gaze. Xavier cleared his throat. "Father, perhaps we should proceed with the formal introductions?" "Of course." He finally broke our eye contact. " Throughout the dinner, I could hardly focus on Xavier's attempts at conversation. My attention kept drifting to Franklin. Every time I looked up, his eyes were on me, making me nervous. This wasn't how things happened in my past life. Franklin had never shown interest in anyone, let alone me. What had changed? Later that evening, I decided to take some air to clear my head. Just as I was heading out, Kira stood beside me. "Princess, would you like some company?" she asked softly. "It's getting dark." Images flashed through my mind, the dark room, the betrayal. My hands started shaking. "Get away from me!" I screamed, making her jump back. Kira's eyes widened with hurt. "Princess, I-I don't understand. Did I do something wrong?" Seeing her confused expression only made it worse. "Just... just leave me alone," I managed to say, my voice trembling. "That's an order." She bowed quickly and hurried away. I ran to the gardens, desperate for fresh air. "What am I supposed to do?" I whispered to the moon goddess sitting bedside a tree. “ How can I pretend everything's normal when every face reminds me of that night?" "Talking to yourself, Princess?" I jumped up at the sound of King Franklin's voice. He stood a few feet away smiling. "I-I should go," I stammered, turning to leave. "Stay." It wasn't a command, but something in his voice made me freeze. "Please." When I didn't move, he walked closer. "I saw what happened with the maid earlier." "Want to tell me why you reacted so strongly to her presence?”"I don't want to talk about it," I said, turning away from Franklin's questioning gaze."As you wish." His voice was gentle. "But remember, Princess, not everything is as it seems in this palace."I couldn't sleep that night, his words echoing in my head. The next morning, Kira came in to do her morning duty, I watched her closely. Every time she bowed or called me "Princess," my skin crawled."Kira," I called out as she was making my bed. "I need you to clean all the curtains in my wing. Today.""But Princess, that would take—""Did I ask for your opinion?"She flinched at my tone. "No, Your Highness."Day after day, I gave her more impossible tasks. Clean every window in the east wing. Polish all the silver. Reorganize the entire library."Princess," she finally broke like I expected , "have I offended you somehow?"I smiled coldly. "Why would you think that?" She bowed and continued what I instructed her to do.After about an hour, i was on my way to check if Kira had finished her
- Giselle -I paused in shock; a light gasp would have escaped my lips if it had not gotten stuck in my throat. Is Franklin, the father of my mate in the past now my mate? Now I am sure the Moon goddess is definitely playing games with me.This cannot be happening. I held Franklin's gaze, too shaken to look around the shocked faces of the people around to the reveal of my mate bond.I wanted to be away from here, and not behold their stares. I wished I could freeze them all so I could run away. Just as I thought of that, the word escaped my lips, and everyone froze.I blinked my eyes rapidly and looked around. Did everyone really freeze? Did I...?No time to ask questions. I quickly walked away. But whatever power it was, and whoever it came from, must not have lasted long because I heard their murmurings not long after I left the gathering.I walked faster. Somebody was coming after me."Giselle," I heard the unmistakable voice of Franklin behind me. Why the hell wouldn't he let me a
- Gissele -I walked slowly into the building, taking details of the structures while I tried to take my mind off certain things. Like Franklin walking straight into my dreams. Those eyes bore into my skin knowingly."Princess," Someone called and I frowned immediately, recognising the voice. Xaxier walked up to me with a straight look and strong resolve on his face."Good morning to you," he said."Morning," I managed to answer. There was nothing good about him, nor in the morning he speaks of. Coming from such a despicable man, I will not take it."I realised we have not had a moment to ourselves ever since I have been here," he said and I couldn't help but scoff."What will you possibly need a moment for?" I wanted to know. He chuckled, tugging on his shirt with a feeling of importance and puffed up with pride."It might have escaped you, but you are betrothed to me," he announced as if I was just knowing for the first time. My eyes dilated in mock shock."Oh really? Yet you have a
- Xavier -I cannot understand why my father will act out of will where I am concerned. This is my life and I should be allowed to make a decision for myself. Princess or not, Kira was who I wanted. He had no right to dictate for me, and I told him so.He barely looked at me above his nose from his study table."Father, you are not saying anything," I said after waiting for a moment, and he still did not say anything."You are an ingrate," will be his words when he finally spoke. My mouth fell lightly."Why will you say such words to me?" I asked him, slightly annoyed."You think you are something because you are the crowned prince but you forget that I am first your father, the Alpha King. I have built up the pack to where it is today with all the power and authority we have, not you. So every respect and honour you get is because of me. But what did you do? Slap me in the face by choosing that lowly maid over the prestigious princess you are betrothed to. Have you thought for a seco
- Marcus -"King Marcus," Franklin called in his usual deep and calm voice. "You said you wanted to discuss something very important with me.""So did I," I affirmed, adjusting on my seat and he looked at me, his face serious and expectant. "It's about my daughter and your son. I know you don't need anyone to tell you what's happened between the two.""Of course, and once again, I apologise for that," he said and I waved it away."That's fine. Although your son did act out of place but considering my daughter's feelings, I still feel the marriage can work."I noticed Franklin's face fell when I said that but the expression did not last long on his face."May I ask why?" He asked. "Did...did the princess tell you that?"I observed him closely, wondering why he seemed unhappy that I wanted Giselle to get back with his son."My daughter doesn't have to tell me," I told him. "I know her well and even though she tries to act as if all is well, I know deep down she is sad. You will agree wi
- Giselle -My mind raced for a few seconds while Father waited for me to say something."That is so considerate of you father," I stated while struggling with the choice of words in my head. "And I appreciate that you want to make things work between me and Xavier. Let's see how it goes."I couldn't make him think I feel otherwise, lest he confirm that I do not want anything to do with Xavier and ask them away. So long as Franklin is still here, I will manage Xavier."That's my girl," my father beamed happily and opened his arms for an embrace. I will have to be tactical with this.- Franklin -I tried to convince myself that I was not upset about the recent development but I couldn't get my mind off it. I wanted to know badly if it was Giselle herself who consented to this. Doesn't she want me? I am sure she felt the bond between us as much as I did. But the little pretty witch keeps running away from me.Bethroted to my son or not, I cannot let her slip out of my hands unless she r
- Giselle -I had not noticed someone was sitting on a stool in the corner of my room."How did you get in here?" I asked, my hands falling to my sides. When his eyes met mine, cold shivers ran down my spine. His countenance was not as soft as before. Standing before him now, I felt just like I would in my life before."You did not tell me if you enjoyed your dinner?" Alpha Franklin asked again, unsmiling. I did not know what to say.He stood up and walked towards the door where I stood, I quickly shifted."Can you leave now?" I said quietly and his gaze softened, sadly."Are you sending me away?" He asked."No," I swallowed hard. "But you shouldn't be seen here.""Why?" While he spoke, he kept moving close to me and I tried moving away till I was against the wall."This is not right," It was a desperate appeal. He was closing in on me."What is not right?" His voice was dangerously low and... seductive!"What if someone finds you here?" I asked trying to say something, anything at al
- Kira -I was worried about everything that's happened. Xavier promised me he was going to stand by me and make sure I get married to him, but that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.I was tired of people pointing accusing fingers at me, and worse still, I had to serve Giselle, for I am her personal maid.I wanted to be relieved of my duties, but that can only happen when I am official with Xavier. I decided to take matters into my own hands. Xavier had promised to talk to his father but since he was not yielding, I might try getting to him myself. If only I could get Alpha Franklin to approve of me, I would not have to worry about anything anymore.I took my time and prepared a special meal for him. After carefully arranging it in a tray, I went to his room and the guards let me in.He seemed busy on his study table. I let out a deep shaky breath before I approached him."Greetings, alpha," I bowed lowly, noticing the tray shaking in my hands. He did not reply. "I prepared t
- Kira -I prepared some food for Aunt Cleopatra or should I rather say, my mother-in-law-to-be, and took it to her room.Everywhere smelled of a mixture of smoke and mint and she was wearing a short black dress. She did not look like a mother at all. She looked like a badass divorced woman who doesn't take any mess from anyone. Her presence filled me with so much uncertainty and the thought of the things she could do. She replaced her child with her brother's and for years no one knew anything.Somehow, I was glad I was on her team because I couldn't imagine being on the bad side of such a woman."I made you something to eat," I told her and was surprised at the crack in my voice despite all the confidence I had mustered."Sit," she said shortly and I found a stool close to her wardrobe."I am sure by now you know who I really am to Xavier," she started and I nodded."Yes ma'am.""You can call me Cleopatra. Cleo for short.""Alright.""And Xavier tells me you are a mate," she comment
- Kira -I wanted to see Xavier and heard him talking with someone when I got to his door and recognized the voice as his aunt's. I was just about to leave and return later when they were done talking but something caught my ears.I heard him call her mother and I was stunned. I leaned forward towards the door to be sure I heard well and they were talking as mother and child.I noticed the door was open and pulled the knob quietly. I walked in fully with a confused look on my face. At first, they did not notice me and I had to speak when I couldn't hold in the confusion. "What is going on here?" I asked and Xavier turned to look at me."Kira? For how long have you been here?" He asked back and I shook my head."I don't understand. Why are you referring to her as your mother?""She doesn't know," the older woman stated and then asked and Xavier sighed."Not yet," he replied."Doesn't know what?" Nothing was making any sense. "Xavier I thought you said she was your father's sister?""T
- Franklin -Cleopatra was coming? She is my only sister but at this point, I don't think I am ready to have her around, not now. Somehow, for some reason, I really can't tell. But if she's on her way here already, I cannot stop her.I had better let Giselle know about it. She looked a bit nervous when I told her."I never really thought you had a sibling," she said uncertainly."Cleo has been away for a couple of years and she doesn't come around often. You wouldn't know her. Many people don't. She's my elder sister.""Wow..." She muttered and I held her close."Come on, it's nothing to worry about. At least, she's family. You should be happy to meet her.""I don't know. It's just that, I don't know what to expect when I meet her," she said, looking up at me."I understand. But I can almost assure you, you two will get along. Sometimes she can be over but it's not really that bad.""I hope so," she managed a smile. "Well, since you said she'd be here soon I will just go prepare a mea
- Xavier -"Is there anything else you would like me to do for you, my queen?" A maid asked Giselle and she shook her head."I will let you know when I need anything, thank you," she said and the maid walked away. She rested her hand on the stairs and looked down at the pack. Her face fell into a frown when she turned to look at me."Do you like what you see?" I asked her casually."I do," she did not deny. "It's beautiful.""Indeed. I'm sure this is what you have ever wanted in your life and that's why you had to step so low and sleep with my father so you can be here.""It's worth it," she shrugged with a mocking smile."You don't belong here," I told her sternly. "A few weeks ago, I was a visitor in your pack and now you are a visitor in mine as well.""No you are wrong," she waved a finger to my face. "I am not a visitor. I am here to stay."I laughed."And you think I am going to let you? This is my pack, Giselle. And I am the crowned prince, the Alpha of this pack. If you don't
- Frederick - "When are you going to see your father?" I asked Sia as she walked into the room. She dropped the Small basket she was holding and faced me with her hands akimbo. "Why?" She asked back. "Just answer the damn question, you gotta reply with another question," I hissed. "Okay, what is this? What's with you," she threw back at me. "If you have an issue just speak up because you know I know you. You don't always ask about my father except there is something. So you'd better talk." "You know what I like about you?" I tinted my brows. "You are very smart and you know me well." "I am your wife after all," she replied, turning away. "Well, it's true I want to see your father because some things are happening that I don't like. As the head of the Lords, I expect him to put those things in order but he's been cold about it. I think he needs someone to draw his attention to them." "And what's that?" "You ask too many questions," I grunted. "Anyway, it's about Franklin and K
- Kira -I led the men towards the kitchen, trying hard to act as normal as possible, and sorted drinks for them to carry out."I know a place you can leave the hall but we will have to be very careful. You'll move these drinks out with me and act normal," I told them and they nodded."Okay."They quickly wore the aprons, and they looked less like suspects."Hey!" A voice boomed outside and we stopped dead. I turned round to see three hefty palace guards at the door."Hi, can I help you?" I asked with a nervous smile. The men walked in fully with bold eyes that searched everywhere."Yes you can," one of them said. "There are intruders in the palace and we are trying to fish them out."They were looking behind me at Xavier's men."Who are these men?" He finally asked."Why? These are the workers assisting me here," I replied casually with a shrug."It's that so? I have never seen these men before.""That is possible as some of them don't work in the palace before now. They were hired f
- Xavier -I laughed. No, nothing was funny. It was just ridiculous. Father and Giselle were throwing a party for their wedding. So, the two think now that they can actually be together. They might have escaped my plots, but that does not mean anything to me because I was determined to do everything to get rid of them, including my father.I wouldn't have to wait for the child in Giselle's belly. I can't be dragging over anything with a baby. Right now, my father has become my biggest enemy since he could sleep with someone meant for me and not feel bad about it.He became my rival and competition the very day he turned against me and took Giselle into his bed. If I get him out, I become the Alpha of my pack.Either of the two must surely happen. I stationed my men at the party to take down any of the two. I was bent on ruining the wedding and shedding blood, not caring whose blood it was going to be.I sat absentmindedly as the wedding began. As his son, I was automatically invited t
- Franklin -Giselle recovered quickly and I was very happy. However, a couple of thoughts have been running over my mind and I decided to meet her father concerning her."Alpha Franklin, please have your seat," King Marcus said as he ushered me in. "I hope there is no problem?""None at all," I replied as I took a seat beside him. "I just want to discuss with you a few things regarding your daughter, Giselle. I am planning to return to my pack, and I would like to carry her along."He paused for a while thoughtfully and then grunted."Well, I should have prepared for this long before now. After all, she is not going to stay here with me forever, just that it came a bit sudden for me.""I understand, since she's the only one you've got at the moment but I can't leave her. I worry too about the security of your pack in regards to her. I will be able to protect her more when she is with me.""You're right," he agreed with me soberly. "I have been worried too about her safety ever since
- Franklin -I contemplated for a while, finding it difficult to say no to Giselle but not seeing the need to leave at the same time."I think he can do whatever he wants to, even with me here," I finally said, and I saw his face fall. It can't be that deep is it? Whatever. I am not changing my mind on that. Giselle frowned at me with disapproval, and I shrugged. The doctor went ahead to do his checks grumpily and I watched his every movement while holding on to Giselle's hands. At some point, I thought I saw him shaking, and I wondered if I made him uncomfortable and should have left. After a while, he was finally done and walked out. Giselle pinched me lightly."You should have gone out when he said you should," she complained with a pout. "You are so stubborn.""Now how could I have gone with you looking so cute like this," I told her with a smile. "I did not want to leave your side. And I don't like that you are not well. I am taking care of you so you should be grateful I am by y
