The elegantly dressed lady stepped out of the red car, wearing a sunshade to disguise her identity. The car's door was gently shut behind her by her newly assigned driver, who bowed slightly to her before returning to the driver's seat.
Lisa stared around for a while, her eyes sparkled in recognition. For more than three years that she has leave her parents house, busily disguising herself as a private hospital's nurse, nothing has changed in the house -it was just as she has remembered it and the familiar scent of flowers in the air was still as it was. At the entrance, leading to the main building itself, stood a man who was busily grinning from ear to ear, his facial expression was that of mixed emotions; relief, recognition and excitement as he patiently waited for Lisa to walk to him. "Oh, oh...!" He exclaimed, his eyes sparkling brightly. "Look who is finally here if not for my long lost cousin. Am I right?" Lisa rolled her eyes at his choice of words. "I wasn't lost, I was busy being a coward and hiding behind my fears, you know." She countered as she strutted towards him. "Choose a better lines to welcome me, dude!" Andy chuckled lightly. "What's the difference, eh?" He remarked, the smile still hasn't left his eyes. "Hiding behind your fears is the same as being lost, I'm right with my welcoming line -it's the perfect description for you, don't you think?" "Ugh, Andy!" Lisa groaned softly as she turned the door knob, proceeding to enter the house. "...just spare me your childish jokes, will you?" "Too bad..." Andy said as he entered the house after Lisa, closing the huge door behind them. "...this time around, it's not a joke. It's... uh -how do I put it? Well, it's just not a joke, yeah!" "Arrgh, Andy!" Lisa groaned slowly with her fist clenched, showing her discomfort with where the conversation is heading to. "Will you stop this already, it's getting on my nerves." "Oh, my! I forgot you are still sensitive at the moment, grieving your poor broken heart. I totally underst..." Andy was quick to swallow the rest of his words due to the cold expression Lisa gave him. "Oh, I zip my mouth now! You don't have to skin me alive with that kind of stare." Andy mimicked the gesture of zipping his lips and throwing away the keys. Lisa only scoffs and she sat on one of the couch elegantly and slowly putting her sunshade away, her stoic expression replaced with amusement as she fed her eyes with her new surrounding. "You did a great job by keeping this house in place, Andy. How can I ever repay you, huh?" She enunciated, not bothering to hide the gratitude in her eyes; if she can't thank him with her mouth, she should at least show how grateful she is in her eyes. "You've repaid me, Lisa, much more than enough." Andy uttered, his expression turning serious which earned him a raised brow from Lisa. "The moment you told me you've divorced that slum jerk, I feel like I don't need anything else from you anymore!" "Hmm... I have no choice to it, Andy, I've been hanging on for too long." She breathed out softly, the sound of her voice wasn't entertaining. "I've finally reached my limit, what else do I do to keep my sanity? I can't sit back and watch that pervert ruin me anymore!" Andy stood up from his seat and moved closer to Lisa, placing a reassuring hand over her shoulder. "You did well, Lisa, I'm proud of your decision." He cajoled her. "It's good you finally realize where you rightfully belong." Lisa laughed softly, wiping out the imaginary tears on her face. "I can't believed I spend my last three years being a fool..." She joked, her voice was now better and calmer. "My goodness, I wouldn't dare repeat that same foolish mistake! It's time I finally right my wrongs!" "Ah, yeah, Lisa! That's the spirit, girl! You got this, I promise!" Andy enounced, returning the same vibe as hers. "I missed the old Lisa but I love the enthusiasm of the new Lisa more. Go, Lisa, I'm with you!" Lisa lightly hit Andy on his shoulders. "What's with your lame lines this time around again?" She asked him in a stern voice, frowning at him. "Don't tell me you abandoned being a doctor and now you are a cheerleader?" "Cheerleader, Huh? That sound much more ridiculous than my lame lines -and that just hurt my feelings." Andy blurted out, feigning hurt. "Oh, Lisa, you are such a killjoy!" Lisa rolled her eyes at his choice of words before opening her mouth to speak. "I think we've chitchat enough already, dude, it's time to get ready for what's more important which is..." She paused her lips for a second. "...business!" "Yeah, business!" Andy repeated her last word. In a split second, his expression turn serious and anyone could doubt he had joked a few moment ago. "There are lots of things to talk about, where do you prefer I start from?" "Anywhere will be okay. Just make it simple but as well detailed, you might want to start from the beginning if it still count." She replied in a more formal tone. "I would love it if anything isn't omitted -not even a single detail!" Andy, in return, cleared his throat lightly before opening his mouth to speak. "First before anything, it's better you know the present state of Dela Cruz groups, because as at this moment, it's in a very bad shape." He enunciated in a straight tone. "Bad shape...?" Lisa vocalized, deep frown settling on her forehead. "What do you mean? Did the groups collapsed already, or maybe at the already at the edge of the cliff?" "Something of sort, yeah." He replied with a slight shoulder shrug afterwards. "My father and his brothers aren't taking good care of the company, they are only after the profit shares made from it by wearing the workers off, as well as their children too." Lisa was furious at the news. How dare her uncles squander the money they did not work for? And instead of their children to reprimand them, they went ahead and follow their fathers' footsteps? The thought of seeing the groups her parents had worked all their lives for falling into the wrong hands pissed her off greatly. "The more I think about this, I realized whatever had happened was all my fault!" She was angry, not only at her greedy uncles and cousins but also her anger was directed to herself as well. "I gave them all the chance to ruin my parents hard work but not anymore!" Andy did say nothing but only watch her vent out her anger, he believed she has to empty all of her bottled emotions for her to carry on smoothly. Lisa, on the flip side, gritted her teeth in rage as she clenched her fist tightly, already overwhelmed with fury. "I won't continue to live as that clueless dead girl they believed me to be anymore, Andy." She vowed, her voice was as cold as ice and at the same time it was sharp as a blade. "They will wish they never covet what wasn't theirs to start with. I'll make sure they pay for laying hands on me." "-and Alex too, he'll as well pay for making me shed my precious tears...""They will wish they never covet what wasn't theirs to start with. I'll make sure they pay for laying hands on me and everything they've done." Lisa vowed, still overwhelmed with anger. "-and Alex too, he'll as well pay for making me shed my precious tears."Lisa's vow wasn't of an empty one and Andy, just by looking into her eyes, he felt lost. The emotion in it wasn't that of the ones he's familiar with, it was totally different and he realized for sure, Lisa wouldn't back down until she's satisfied. Andy couldn't help but admit he love the new look in her eyes! "Fighting those three men isn't an easy journey to embark on, Lisa, they were never easy to start with." Andy started slowly. "We need a very good strategy to overthrow those cunning men when they least expected -they are not just greedy but a con artist as well.""Cunning or foxy, that doesn't matter anymore since it's the reason I'm here." Lisa's voice was assuring with traces of confidence in it. "We have to find a way t
A WEEK LATERThe air in the company was tensed and thick as those knife could cut through it. The staffs were busy with whatever they are doing and those who think they have enough time on their table were busy hushing words amongst themselves —none of them dare speak out loud.Dela Cruz groups already has new owner and it will be welcoming its owner that day, this was enough to keep everyone on their edge. The fact that they don't know when he/she will be arriving caused more tension.Different rumors were already flying around about the new owner, everyone tends to have one or two to say about the owner whenever they manage to gather —mostly, during their lunch break. One rumor that seemed to be the most popular was that the new owner was someone who had a grudge against the Dela Cruz family, and was looking to take revenge. This rumor had caused a lot of fear and unease among the staff, who were now even more wary of the unknown person who was about to become their boss."What do
For the past few months, the Dela Cruz groups have not been doing well lately because the three brothers who had forcefully been managing the company knew nothing about business but instead of employing an expert as a CEO, they blindly lead the company, squandering the little profits they managed to make from it. The Dela Cruz groups was said to ranked top in market sales in States and even in the surrounding company but it has dropped below the least and now, the company and the other branches under it has been struggling financially, went bankrupt and at the edge of collapsing. The three brothers did not bother about the state of the groups cause all they were after was spending whatever money the groups manages to provide for them. Realizing how much they are going to lose if the companies finally collapse, they decided to sell it off, of course, at a price that is way lower than the groups worth; it was as though they sell it off as a scrap.Andy managed to convince his father th
Xavier's eyes, as well as the other two brothers, widened in shock. "What...?" They blurted out in surprise, least expecting what they had just heard. They must have sell the groups but they never planned on evicting their seats in each companies."You heard me right, uncles!" She told them, looking each one of them directly in their eyeballs. "Did you guys signed the documents without reading what the content might be? Ah, that's too lame of you!"Xavier felt as though he was being hit on his gut. ‘Did this cockroach just try to fire me off my post as the executive director?’ He thought within himself, boiling with rage!"But that's too sudden, Lisa!" Xavier argued."It states; ‘with immediate effect’, did you not understand or do you want me to call the security on you?" Lisa sounded as though she was speaking with a hardened criminal, her gaze saying nothing less. "You shouldn't have signed the documents if you won't be abiding by it conditions.""We are family, remember?" Xavier u
Xavier, Fred and Niel got home later that day, with mixed reaction of anger, pain and defeat written on their face —it's obvious that the couldn't hide their emotions as it hit deeper than anyone would think. The type of humiliation they had face earlier, none of them had face it before. Xavier felt he was mostly humiliated, coupled with the fact he was the one doing the talking and his son had his back turned on him."What's wrong, dad...?" Ella, Lisa's youngest cousin, asked Fred immediately they walked in. She had wanted to ignore them and continue with the phone she was busy with but with their long faces, she couldn't help but interfere. The house belongs to Fred, being the only considerate one amongst the three greedy brothers, he bought a duplex to call his unlike the rest of the two who only squander theirs without thinking twice about it. Xavier, on the flip side, lived with son, Andy but since he's angry with his son, he decided to go with Fred and Neil being the younges
"That's ridiculous!" Xavier exclaimed, clearly offended by the accusation. "Andy would never do anything to hurt any of us, especially not his own father! He might be just as surprised as we are by Lisa's actions. Andy might not even know what's going on with her."Xavier might be angry with his son but he couldn't help but defend him; no parents would stand their child being ridiculously judged!Neil and Fred exchanged a look, still not sure what to believe. On the one hand, it seemed unlikely that Andy would be involved in something like this. But on the other hand, it was hard to explain Lisa's behavior any other way."You might not know this but Neil and I pleaded with Andy to help talked things out with Lisa but he turned us down instantly, Xavier!" Fred blurted out. "He stood there, watching Lisa's security officers dragged us out like criminals. Andy called those officers on us!"Xavier sighed in defeat as he recalled the scenario at the board room with Andy presence but he did
The meeting was supposed to have hold two hours earlier but due to the little scenario that happened, Lisa had the meeting adjourned and let the fuss die down for a while. Lisa walked into the conference room, taking her seat at the head of the table. As the new chairwoman and owner of Dela Cruz groups, she was determined to lead the company back to the top of the market. The board members sat around the table, waiting for her to begin."Good afternoon, everyone." Lisa began, her voice calm but firm. "I want to thank you all for being here today to discuss how we can restore Dela Cruz groups from collapsing finally and bring it back to the top where it belongs."She looked around the room, meeting each person's eyes. The reaction on their faces were just the same as she heard expected, she nodded slowly then started at a slide presentation."As you all know..." She continued, maintaining the same fame tone. "We need to rebuild our reputation, and I have come up with a plan of action.
Rosy was seated with her legs crossed as she slowly sips the drink she's holding in her hand, trying to suppress the look of impatience that's delineated on her face. At several intervals, she scanned her surrounding but got disappointed yet again. She stared at her wrist watch, it was way past midnight and she wondered why Alex hasn't shown up yet. Rosy was furious to think Alex was sitting her down on purpose, alone without himself or anyone else."Hey, pretty..." A guy on suit approached Rosy, a small smile on his face. She raised her head slowly to meet his gaze, her brows furrowed. "What's a pretty lady like you doing here, sitting alone?""..." Rosy only stared at him for few seconds without saying anything and returned her gaze to her drink, trying to pretend he wasn't there in the first place."Did you come with someone or maybe you are waiting for someone?" He pestered, his voice sounds calm but flirtatious —he did not give her a second to reply him before speaking again. "We
As she sat, deep in thought, a sudden buzz broke her concentration. A notification appeared on her phone, with a message from her former fiancé, David."Why is he sending me a message out of the blue?" She muttered within herself as she unlocked her phone to read the message, feeling a mixture of anxiety and curiosity. She read the message, and her breath caught in her throat.Sarah stared at the message sent to her, her curiosity suddenly turned into a mixture of anger and sadness. It reads, 'I can't believe you are such a gold digger, Sarah! This was your plan all along? To ditch me, leave me in disgrace at the altar, and go after the president because he's loaded, isn't he?'Sarah gritted her teeth in fury as she read the message further. 'You are such a cheap slut, but I promise you, Sarah, that I won't go down without a fight! Be on your best guard because tonight, I'm giving you the biggest surprise of your life...!'David's words cut through her like a knife, the fact that he go
Sarah, a name now acknowledged and recognized in the journal of the nation's political context, stood as the center of an exceptional sight, surrounded by glaring lights, loud and noisy voices, and examining eyes from the press, reflecting a model of the public.Amidst the lights and noisy surroundings, the press that managed to get close to her probed her with questions, their eyes gleaming with excitement. She was their new prey - the fact that she was the first Lady made things more interesting for them. For the first time since her marriage with the president, she had only stepped out for a moment to look around and probably get used to her new environment but things did not turn out as she thought would be.As though the press was keeping a close watch on her and monitoring her movement - maybe someone had tipped them off her whereabouts, they hovered around her like flies, trapping her down in the same spot.Microphones and other instruments used by the press were pointed in her
As Sarah stood at the altar to exchange marital vows with the president, she felt a sense of calm wash over her. It was as if time had slowed down, and everything around her was moving in slow motion. The guests, the priest, the groom - they all seemed to be moving at a fraction of the speed she was used to. Everything felt surreal as if she was in a dream. But she knew this was real. This was her wedding day - another wedding she was holding in that same week she ditched the first one.The priest's words drifted through the air as if they were carried by the wind. "Do you, Sarah, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do you part?"As the words of the vow hung in the air, Sarah felt her heart skip a beat. It was like everything had stopped, and it was just her and the president in the world. She looked into his eyes, a
Sarah had never seen him before which made her curiosity piqued, her gaze on the parcel he stretched out to her. Though she was tempted to take the parcel from him, she still hesitated as though she was contemplating taking the parcel from him.His unusual warm smile spread wider, urging her to take it from him. Seeing how much she was hesitating, he squatted down to her height, opened her palms, and placed the parcel on them."For you..." He uttered, still wearing his unusual warm smile. His voice was calm but far from the regular manly voice Sarah had heard."What's in the parcel?" She asked, directing her gaze from the man to the parcel in her palms before raising her gaze to meet the man's. "-and why are you giving it to me?""I can read the curiosity in your eyes, lady." He responded quietly, maintaining his calm tone. "Why don't you feed your curiosity by checking it out yourself?"Sarah said nothing in reply and did as the man had suggested. She opened the parcel and couldn't be
Alone on the serene and deserted beach, Sarah sat on the sandy shore, the waves crashing against the beach as if echoing her inner turmoil. The sunset on the horizon in its warm hue of orange failed to bring comfort to the despair that hung over her like a chute. Her eyes were red and swollen, heavy with the weight of sorrow and betrayal. Tears painted her face, the hurt as vast as the sea itself and heavy as a lead. Yet underneath the sorrow was an underlying sense of trepidation - a thought that wasn't born out of hope but out of fear of continuing to live.Sarah ought to be grateful that she found out about them before the knot was tied between herself and David - how worse would it be if things started to unfold after her wedding?Sarah stood up abruptly and walked closer to the beach, shutting other thoughts off her head and mind. She stared intensely into the raging waves of the waster as thoughts of suicide attempts swirled in her mind, tempting her to end the painful game she f

It was a partially sunny day, and the sky was clear as well. The air was crisp and cool, and the birds were singing happily in the trees. The streets were quiet, and there was a peaceful stillness in the air. Gerald was pushed aggressively back into the prison, and the warder locked the gate immediately, throwing the keys into his pocket. Gerald hissed in pain as he forcefully hit his knee on the cold floor, bruising it in the process.“I wonder how long you are going to last here with the nonchalant attitude you are putting on, man!” The warder scowled disapprovingly at him, resting lazily on the gaze. “You won't even last three months here —you will be lucky if you do.”Gerald's eyes widened in shock. Three months…? That's a whole lot of time to be detained in a prison, how is he supposed to cope in this kind of surrounding for that long period of time without even knowing his offense? The thought of spending three months locked up in a cell was terrifying as it made his stomach dropped. It was hard to imagine being stuck in such a small space for so long, with nothing to do and no one to talk to. Gerald tried to think of ways to pass the time, but his mind kept returning to the same thou
Gerald's eyes blazed in fury as he banged his hands dangerously on the table, separating them from each other. “I rather remain in this hole than be at your mercy or listen to your petty orders! You can't make me do your bidding!” He growled at her.“Tsk, tsk!” Aunt Elsie twitched her nose in disappointment, unmoved by his rage or threats. “Then what would happen to Lisa? I told you; that your reaction and obedience will determine Lisa's fate, didn't I?”“What are you going to do to Lisa?” Gerald demanded, his heart beating against his rib cage. He couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to her. “Tell me what you want, and I'll do it. Just don't hurt her.”Aunt Elsie's lips stretched into a thin smile, she was loving the desperation in Gerald's eyes —he's the perfect pawn in the game. “I'm glad to see that you're willing to cooperate.” She said, satisfaction evident in her tone. “You're a smart man, Gerald, I think we can work well together.”Gerald hated the way she was talkin
Aunt Elsie smiled broadly, she was right about him. Only someone like him will be needed —he had managed to read her perfectly without getting close to her. She was impressed, and that will only make her want him more.“I don't bargain, yeah…" She uttered, admitting to his words. “—but I'm ready to do so, if it'll please you.”“What do you mean by that?” he asked, his curiosity piqued. “Why would you change your usual tactics just to please me? What do you want from me?”Aunt Elsie's smile widened, she was glad he didn't bite her head off this time —instead, she loved the curiosity in his eyes; that was what she wanted from him anyway, not otherwise.“I've found myself smitten with you, Gerald.” She replied, her voice taking a different turn. “And I would do anything to get what I want from you —I'm not afraid of bargaining this time because I know what I want, and I want it badly.”Gerald was no in for her twist and turns, he wanted her to say whatever thing she's got for him and let
