It was barely an hour past noon and Alex was already preparing to leave his office, thereby closing for the day. He had Kiel cancel all of his schedule for that day, leaving most of his clients hanging —well for that day, he did not mind, his wife's happiness comes first as he already planned out the best surprise for her.

He needed to prove to her and show her how much he loves her and was willing to do anything for her, believing she's also possessing the same mindset as his. Most definitely, she would since she's now his wife.

With a dreamy smile on his face that doesn't seem like it would be fading away from his face anytime soon, he threw his blazer over his shoulders, humming some incoherent words understand his breath happily.

As he wear his blazer, he couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to love and be loved in return. The warm sun that was reflecting and the gentle breeze in the air seemed to be a mirror of the warmth and joy he felt in his heart. Today was going to be a special day, one that they would cherish forever.

Just when Alex was prepared to walk out of his office, the door creaked opened, revealing his assistant, Jamel. He walked hastily towards Alex, holding an envelope with his both hands clasped tightly around it.

Alex's smiley face quickly dissolved into a deep frown settled on his face, a type that shows his disapproval over whatever Jamel might have to say. "What is it...?" He blurted out in a harsh tone. "What's with the sudden envelope that you are holding? I told you..."

Jamel quickly interrupt his boss, giving him no chance to finish his sentence. "This can be treated later, sir." He said, rambling. "You asked me to submit this before the days runs out and since you are leaving earlier than usual, I realized it's better to bring it now."

Alex nodded knowingly, the frown slowly disappearing from his face. "Ah, I see..." He drawled, walking towards the door. "Drop the file, I'll see to it tomorrow when I resume."

Jamel did as told as he quickly drop the envelope on Alex's desk before trailing behind him. "Are you leaving now, sir?" He asked, closing the office's door behind them.

"Uh, what does it seems like I'm doing?" Alex replied was laced with sarcasm, hastening his steps. "Do I looked too relaxed like someone who has nowhere to go?"

"No, I mean —can I go with..."

Alex cut him off abruptly, rushing his words. "No need." He chattered, shaking his head sideways. "This is a place I need to go alone, it's not work related. You can find something else doing if you think you have enough time to follow me around."

Jamel sighed with a slight shoulder shrug, standing on a spot as he watch Alex leave. "I wonder what might be so important to have made him cancel the meeting he has been anticipating for quite a while." He muttered under his breath before heading back to his space.

Alex sat across from his lawyer, Mr. Brown, with a determined look on his face. He was ready to make some changes to his will, and he needed Mr. Brown's help to do it. As they sat down to discuss the matter, Mr. Brown couldn't help but ask some questions.

"Before we start, Alex, I need to ask you something. Is your mother aware of this?" Mr. Brown inquired, adjusting his glasses slightly on his nose. "You how she is."

Alex shook his head quickly in disagreement. "No, she doesn't know anything about this. But I don't want her to worry about slight things as this. I'll tell her once everything is finalized." He said, wearing a soft and appealing look on his face.

Mr. Brown hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, I understand. So, what changes did you have in mind?" He asked, his gaze fixated on Alex.

Alex took a deep breath. "I want to divide my properties into equal halves between my wife and..." He was still saying...

"Wait, what?" Mr. Brown did not hide the surprise in his voice as his eyes widened slightly. "Your wife? What wife, when did you get married?"

"Two months ago." Alex replied him flatly, already expecting such reaction from his lawyer —after all, his mother's was worse when she learned about it too. "It was a court marriage with one witness, my mother wasn't even present. She was angry, I guess."

"Your marriage is only two months old and your mother wasn't even in support of it and you blindly want to gift your inheritance to her, Alex?" Mr. Brown blurted out, still clouded in surprise. "Does this even look sane to you?"

"Who cares if it's sane or not?" Alex was almost half yelling, already picking offence with the lawyer's choice of words. "This is my affair and I have the right to deal with it whichever way I want."

Mr. Brown breathed in slowly, holding his emotion. "Sure, it is your affair, I agree." He stated in a calm tone. "But I'll have you rethink this decision before you make a drastic mistake. Don't you find this impulsive?"

Alex sighed and leaned back in his chair. "Look, Mr. Brown, I know this may seem impulsive, but I love my wife and I want to make sure she's taken care of even if something happens to me." He told his lawyer in reply.

Mr. Brown nodded patiently. "Of course, Alex, I understand that, but have you considered a prenuptial agreement? It's important to have a legal agreement in place to protect your assets." He remarked.

Alex shook his head. "No, I don't want to do that. I trust my wife and I don't want her to think that I don't." He countered with no intention of buying Mr. Brown's advice.

Mr. Brown gave him a sympathetic smile. "I understand, but sometimes it's not about trust. It's about being prepared for any situation. A prenuptial agreement can be a way to make sure that both parties are protected, without any need for mistrust." He insisted, trying to make Alex have a change of plan.

Alex thought about this for a moment, considering Mr. Brown's words. Finally, he nodded. "Okay, I'll think about it. But for now, can we just go ahead with the changes to my will? I really want to make sure my wife is taken care of."

Alex was determined on changing the will and no amount of cajoling could make him have a change of mind —not even Mr. Brown's words could do the trick.

Mr. Brown nodded and began making notes. "Of course, Alex. We can definitely make the changes you want. But I want you to remember that a good lawyer always has their client's best interests at heart." He uttered, his gaze directed on the notes he's making.

Alex smiled gratefully. "I know, Mr. Brown. And I appreciate everything you're doing for me." He couldn't hold his smile.

As Alex sat before his lawyer, watching him do the needful, he couldn't help but feel contented —finally, nothing can come between himself and Rosy, not even his mother who is known to do whatever she wants...
