The meeting was supposed to have hold two hours earlier but due to the little scenario that happened, Lisa had the meeting adjourned and let the fuss die down for a while.
Lisa walked into the conference room, taking her seat at the head of the table. As the new chairwoman and owner of Dela Cruz groups, she was determined to lead the company back to the top of the market. The board members sat around the table, waiting for her to begin. "Good afternoon, everyone." Lisa began, her voice calm but firm. "I want to thank you all for being here today to discuss how we can restore Dela Cruz groups from collapsing finally and bring it back to the top where it belongs." She looked around the room, meeting each person's eyes. The reaction on their faces were just the same as she heard expected, she nodded slowly then started at a slide presentation. "As you all know..." She continued, maintaining the same fame tone. "We need to rebuild our reputation, and I have come up with a plan of action. Firstly, we need to analyze our product line and we must come into line with our offerings with the demands of our customers. This means investing in research and development, exploring sustainable practices, and staying ahead of market trends." Lisa emphasized the importance of introducing something new and the readiness to make certain changes where necessary. "Secondly, we need to improve customer relations." She uttered, leaning forward in her chair. "We need to rebuild trust and strengthen our connection with our valued clients. This involves actively seeking their feedback, being transparent about any shortcomings, and providing exceptional customer service." She paused, looking around the room again. "Lastly..." She enounced, firmly. "We need to enhance our internal processes. We need to streamline our operations, function more efficiently and encourage collaboration across all departments. In short, we need to be more effective and productive." The board members leaned forward when they realized Lisa's attitude. It brought a sense of stability and purpose they have been missing —if only she had been the chairwoman all along, with her perfect ideas, the groups were sure to have exceeds expectations. "In conclusion." Lisa enunciated, wrapping up her speech. "We have a long way to go but I am confident that by working together and being strict with our goals, we can restore Dela Cruz groups to its former glory and even surpass it." Lisa leaned back in her chair, surveying the room; she watched the board member's expressions as they took in her every word. Even if the rules depends on her, Lisa thought it wouldn't be nice if one or two persons did not contribute to her speech. The group seemed enthusiastic and Lisa knew that with their help, they could do it but their ideas and intelligence is also needed. "Does anyone else has a better suggestion that can be added to what I've said?" She requested, hoping for a positive answer, at least. "There isn't much to added, so I believe." The oldest amongst the executives, Mr. Brandon, said as he adjusts his eyeglasses. "We all know that Dela Cruz groups have faced turbulent times recently but I believe that adversity can be the way out for change. And today, we have an opportunity to reinvent ourselves and rebuild our brand." Another executive cleared his throat before speaking. "Just as you've said, our relationship with our clients matters. Together, we will forge lasting relationships and restore faith in the Dela Cruz brand." He leans forward, demonstrating his commitment. "I firmly believe that we have the talent, the resources, and the determination to turn this company around. Each and every one of us brings invaluable expertise to the table, all we need is to be bold, take risks, and think outside the box..." came another suggestion. The room went silent for a while but the facial expressions of other executives shows they are in support of the said ideas and strategies without any opposition whatsoever. Lisa seeing the replies and reaction, she concluded the meeting finally. "Let's remember why we chose to be a part of Dela Cruz groups in the first place —because we believe in its potential. Together, we will transform this potential into reality and restore Dela Cruz to its rightful place as an industry leader." She made to leave the meeting and the board members also rise from their seats, applauding Lisa's impassioned speech. With newfound inspiration, the team sets forth on their mission to revive Dela Cruz groups. *** Andy's smile was wide enough to reach his eyes as he walked beside Lisa. "You did well back there, Lisa." He commended her, the smile still yet to leave his eyes. "Your first board meeting was a success and I'm proud of you." Andy was tempted to pat her on her head as he raised his right hand towards her head but he quickly recalled that they are in public and had his hand withdrawed, feeling quite disappointed. "Not only my first meeting, it's expected for every other meetings as well." Lisa told him, her voice was plain and void but Andy could sense the worry hidden under the guise of being strong. "You don't need to worry about other things anymore because you are stronger than you think you are, Lisa." He encouraged her, smiling softly but contagiously. "You just have to do as your heart tells you to and see how things turn out beautifully well." "I hope so, Andy, I'm afraid of disappointing and letting everyone down, most especially my parents... "I She muttered slowly as they entered her newly prepared office. "I don't want to let them down once again after the last time I did." "You won't, girl. Quit the negative feelings you are having, it's the least expected of you as a chairwoman." He told her. "Keep your head high always and see how you ace this position better than anyone else." Lisa saw herself smiling as he encouraged her but felt a little guilt overwhelmed her. Andy had to look away from his family misery just to be by her side; Lisa could only hope it doesn't alter his relationship with them...Rosy was seated with her legs crossed as she slowly sips the drink she's holding in her hand, trying to suppress the look of impatience that's delineated on her face. At several intervals, she scanned her surrounding but got disappointed yet again. She stared at her wrist watch, it was way past midnight and she wondered why Alex hasn't shown up yet. Rosy was furious to think Alex was sitting her down on purpose, alone without himself or anyone else."Hey, pretty..." A guy on suit approached Rosy, a small smile on his face. She raised her head slowly to meet his gaze, her brows furrowed. "What's a pretty lady like you doing here, sitting alone?""..." Rosy only stared at him for few seconds without saying anything and returned her gaze to her drink, trying to pretend he wasn't there in the first place."Did you come with someone or maybe you are waiting for someone?" He pestered, his voice sounds calm but flirtatious —he did not give her a second to reply him before speaking again. "We
"I probably did not tell you but Lisa had disappeared from my house after signing the divorce papers." Alex told Rosy, letting out a deep sigh afterward. "It's been almost two weeks now —I think it's the day after she came to the hospital."Rosy smiled inwardly, truly, the piece of information Alex had shared worth the time she had used in waiting for his arrival —it was as though a rock-like roadblock had just been lifted off her path miraculously after months of trying without any yielding results."That's a good news for us, Alex." She announced, displaying her white dental sheepishly. "There is no hindrance to us finally being together anymore —Lisa has left, and now it's just the two of us. Don't you agree?"Alex find himself sighing again, not sure if he's supposed to be happy as Rosy; he doesn't even know if it's truly a good news. Lisa suddenly leaving him and disappearing without traces was bothering enough, coupled with the fact that he left him something he never thought sh
Even though he was driving, Alex's mind wandered faraway with different thoughts running through his head. As his mind raced back to what happened earlier between himself and Rosy, he wondered what he was thinking to have rejected her offer without a thinking it twice. He believed he loved Rosy and wanted to be with her always -but for the rest of his life? He wasn't sure about it.“...It's not even up to a month since my last marriage ended, I can't jump into another one...”was this even enough reason to turn Rosy's proposal down just like that? Or is there something more to his rejection that even himself can't pinpoint. Alex ran his left hand through his head, frustration visible on his face —coupled with the eye bags under his eyes because he isn't getting enough sleep since Lisa had left, he looked horrible. He tried to think of something; anything that could justify his action but nothing was to be held accountable, this was just a foolish move on his part. He got home at almo
Mrs. Williams sighed loudly as she rubbed her temple in frustration. She didn't even know what to do to stop Alex from seeing Rosy, it was as though Rosy bewitched her son and things had got even more complicated than she thought since he started seeing Rosy again; it just a matter of time before her son rebel against her.She shook her head sideways, as if to push the thought off her head. She won't sit back and watch her son rebel against her all for a woman —something needs to be done to stop him before he goes out of control.Mrs. Williams breathed in slowly, her expression going stern afterward. "For you to right your wrongs, you will have to look for Lisa by all means, I don't care how far you have to go to win her back." She said sternly. "That way, I'll see you as a grown up and let you be!"Alex's eyes widened as though he heard something outrageously strange. "What did you say?" He blurted out, his shocked expression suddenly turn to that of anger in a split second. "I shoul
*LATER IN THE DAY, SIX HOURS TO BE PRECISE*Alex came of his room to the living, wearing a sweatpants and a sleeveless shirt. He seems as though he just woke up from a deep slumber as he wiped his tired hands with the back of his hands slowly. "You aren't going to work today, Alex?" His mother, who has been patiently waiting for him to come out of his room, asked as soon as she saw him. "Did you announce a general holiday to your staffs or something?""Well..." Alex started slowly, shrugging his shoulders. "Why should I go to work when I'm going to stop soon? I'm trying to learn how to spend the day lazying around without doing anything.""What do you mean?" She asked, her brows creased. "Why are you stopping work soon?"Alex picked up the remote control on the table and switched the television on, sitting on the couch next to him. "Didn't you said you have to take everything away from me to leave Rosy?" He asked casually. "Well, this is my answer, I won't leave her no matter what
Mrs. Williams had returned to Alex's house earlier than he has thought, his initial thought was that his mother had left his house finally for hers but seeing her return wasn't something he expected; it's not even up to an hour since she left —why is she back?"Did you forget something here, mother?" He asked, his question sounding as his own way of welcoming his mother but Mrs. Williams did not say anything in reply as she stood a few feet away from him, sparing him an unknown look. "It doesn't seems like you forgot something, are you crashing in here then? For tonight? For the main time do you can watch me closely?"Mrs. Williams snickered, taking a seat before Alex. "Don't be silly with those insensible questions you are asking." She remarked, a sly smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "If I want to watch you, I don't have to stay with you. I can watch you closely even though I'm faraway, I've been doing this since you were a child.""I'm sorry, my bad!" Alex blurted out, sarca
Just then, the door creaked opened, revealing his mother. Alex eyes widened in shock, staring at her. As his heart skipped at the sight of his mother, he couldn't help but wonder how much she has heard. That moment, he forgot his house was sound proofed and his mother would never had heard said those to Rosy.“Has she been eavesdropping on me...?”Alex thought within himself, glued to the same spot he was as he stared at his mother blankly. His heart was racing like a kid whose parents were scolding. Alex hoped that she heard nothing, he will only appear as a weakling before his mother —and that's one of the things he dreaded the most.Mrs. Williams was surprised at how Alex was suddenly looking at her, her brows were furrowed with a look of displeasure on her face. "You don't stare at me in such a foolish manner." His mother sternly. Alex quickly composed himself and turned away from his mother. "Did you forget how to look at your mother respectfully? What's with that glaring eyes of
