MIMI

"Mr Nash.." Amelia stutters, ready to butter Emmette as she eyes Emery. All eyes turn to him, acknowledging the powerful bastard.

"Madam Remington." Emmette hoarsed, rather annoyed at her sheepish tone.

"Is she your daughter?" She looked over at the little girl who held both Corrie and Emmette's hand.

"Yes. Her name is Emery." Emmette answered, the entire room mummurs in indistinct chatter. I look over to Devon, his face casts a frown, eyes pulsing with rage. My stomach churned at the sight of it, being pissed off was a fucking understatement.

"Oh, I didn't know you had a daughter," Amelia said her eyes shifted to Corrie.

"And—a wife. You're quite the mystery Mr Nash." Amelia said as Emmette glared at her.

"I'm not his wife." Corrie immediately snapped, interrupting Emmette from speaking. "I just tutor his daughter." She chuckled dangling Emery from her end with a miserable delight that seemed to annoy me.

"She called you mommy earlier, and the girl does slightly resemble you."

I started, peering quickly at my window as I felt my heart race. "You didn't need to do any of that. I'm grateful." I cleared my throat, pushing my head against the glass with more force."You're still in love with your ex husband?" I quickly turn to him, arching a brow. My lips curled up in distaste."Fuc—" I paused, realizing Emery was present. "No." I swallowed, my brows creasing in annoyance. CORRIEI opened the door, my heart raced."Oh God." I hissed, someone was really in my house. Did they have a spare key or they picked my lock? I was going to figure that out.I quietly shut the door behind me and bolted it. Slipping off my shoes, I placed them to the side along with my bag. Tiptoeing toward the kitchen, sweat trickled down my face as I reached for a knife. The lights flicked on, and I spun around, knife in hand, only to come face to face with a familiar figure wearing a cocky grin. Letting out a deep sigh, I lowered the knife and tossed it aside. "Are you fucking insane?" I snapped, planting my hands on my hips."How did you even get into my house?" I groaned, brushing past Salem. He stood there, practically naked, with only my towel wrapped loosely around his waist. My throat tightened, and I swallowed hard, deliberately avoiding his striking emerald eyes. "I still have your keys Corrie." Salem cocked."I have work in Springville, I thought I'd stop by. Miss me?

CORRIE My eyes open shut, I gasped for hair rising from my bed. My body was drenched in sweat like I was splashed with water. The air feels dry, I cleared my throat with a cough as my bedroom door slightly opens. My eyes widened and my heart dropped to my stomach, I open my mouth to say something but nothing comes out. I slowly slouched forward, my eyes meet Haven's green eyes, his hand pressed against the edge of the door, his sight not faltering once. Then he turned his back to me, and I rose from the bed, following the sound of his footsteps. "Haven!" I yelled, my voice trembling. "Come to mommy," I pleaded, my voice cracking as I caught sight of the front door swinging open. My chest tightened painfully at the all too familiar scene. "Haven!" I screamed again, watching his small frame move further away. He didn’t stop. His back remained turned to me as he sprinted on his heels, heading toward the street. I broke into a run, desperate to catch him. "Daddy," I heard him c

I raised my glass absent-mindedly, the clinking of glasses filling the room like a distant echo. My hand lingered in the air, my eyes fixed on the table as my mind raced. Twenty million dollars. Where on earth was I supposed to get that kind of money? "Ridiculous," I muttered, suddenly snapping out of my thoughts. My eyes flickered to Devon and the Benjamins, who were now giving me curious, awkward stares. I chuckled lightly, reclining back into my seat as I raised my glass again and emptied it in one quick motion.Kathy reached for the wine bottle, a knowing smile curling on her lips. She gestured for me to pass my glass, pouring me another generous helping. “You seem stressed, Mimi,” she said, her tone drenched in a mix of concern and judgment. “Handling your father-in-law’s memorial must already be tough.” she cocked.I bit back my initial irritation and let the wine soothe my nerves. I could have risked everything, had he not pardoned me.I couldn't sleep, it was 11pm as I stared at my phone on the living room table. I chugged down the remaining remant of the wine. I picked up my phone and dailed Corrie's number, immediately she picked."Hello Mrs Remington." Her voice feigned saccharine, my mouth was bitter as I looked around to see if anyone close by. The maids should have retired to their quarters but I still lowered my voice."Cut the bullshit Corrie. I told you I'll get your fucking money. Why the hell would you think it's okay to carry a paternity test on my son?" My heart trembled in fear, I looked around once more as my eyes faced forward."Oh, I thought you seemed a bit too relaxed so I was reminding you of your deadline. Or—" she paused. "Wo

Emmette tilt his head to find my face, but I pushed my face downward in shame."Then move." Emmette muttered. "I need to speak to my wife if it's true." He said, his tone low but commanding. CORRIE"Today's activity will be horseback riding." The head teacher bellowed loudly as we followed her and two stable boys. They would be assisting with today's activity and they chipped in a bit of knowledge to both students and teachers along the way.Everyone gasped in awe, while my hand pinned behind my back as I drowned out the noise. I used to be a stable girl when I was 16. Horseback riding used to be Devon's favorite sport and I would do any thing at the time to blend as an accessory. I literally became a stable girl to please the bastard."Mrs Nash.." I was pulled out of reality to see the head teacher smiling back at me. It was eerie, it was odd and the first time she looked at me with such kindness."Your husband..." She points over to Emmette and a few men who were discussing. I looked back at her and then back at Emmette who smiled at me, then winked and I couldn't help but blush like some school girl."Won't you give him a wave?" She smugly grinned and I can see what's

The moment I woke up, I swiftly took my bath, had one banana in my mouth and bolt out. I didn't even get to make Emmette's breakfast."Mrs Nash. You're late." The head teacher spat, her tone laced with venom."I'm sorry. It won't happen again." I gasped in little breaths, my back straightened, my eye met hers that was filled with scorn."I hope so." She scoffed. "Just because your husband owned the place, that doesn't mean you should do whatever you want." The head teacher muttered under her breath. I ignored her snarky comment and went to stand next to the other teachers. She gave a lengthy speech about doing our jobs. And threw a few shades at me.Each and everyone were given cabins. Guilt was a heavy weight to process and I couldn't help but wonder if this had anything to do with me. Emmette looked so tired, I didn't want to imagine what he could have gone through for the past week since we had been apart."He's fine Mrs Nash." The doctor audibly called to me. I paused, tilting my gaze towards them."But why did he collapse?" I asked, recalling memories of Devon's father passing out on numerous occasions before he finally passed away. He had arrhythmia and my face flushed pale on the mere thought that the same fate could go to Emmette."Does he perharps has arrhythmia?" The doctor arched a brow at me and then laughed, longer than he should, making my cheeks heat up in embarrassment. He turned to Emmette. "Is your wife a nurse?" MIMIMy legs felt weak; they could give out any second. My body ached, and I felt like a mindless zombie with each step I took. My body felt heavy—it was hard to look up—but I felt relieved seeing the Emerald Palace. All I needed was a nice, good sleep, and I'd think of what to do next. I walked into the building. Immediately, I forced myself to proudly sway my hips. I forced a smile too and greeted a few people till I got to the elevator. The elevator doors opened, and I waited for a few people to get in. I stayed at the back, exhausted, till the doors shut. I drowned out the noise of the people in the elevator with my thoughts. How was I going to pay the maids? The chef? Herod's driver and his tutor? I bit down on my nails until the elevator dinged. Everyone looked around, waiting for whose floor it was. A woman walked out, and my eyes turned to the buttons to see it was my floor as well. I wrestled through the crowd, twirled slightly, and bowed to the crowd in respect. Th
