The Meeting (Part Two)

We reached the hospital faster than I expected. Ethan came down and walked over to my side and opened the door for me. Mumbling thanks, I stepped out of the car, and together, we walked into the enormous hospital.

As we got to the front desk, the receptionist quickly stood to her feet with a surprised look on her face. Why?

"Mr. White, good afternoon. What can we do for you, sir?" the lady asked while ignoring me. It didn’t bother me though; I was still bothered by the fact that she knew who he was.  How does she know him?

"I'll like Dr. Resnic to come, and take a look at my friend’s arm" Ethan replied with an indifferent tone and she quickly called the Doctor through an intercom, who appeared beside us in a minute. What just happened?

"Aaha Mr. White, to what do I owe this visit?" the blond doctor asked, as he held a nervous look on his face.

"My friend here needs her injury cleaned and wrapped" Ethan replied. Friend? Did he just call me a friend?

The doctor nodded and gestured for us to follow him. We follow the doctor to a room where I saw bandages, disinfectants, etc. I took a seat on one of the vacant chairs and the doctor takes my hand to inspect it.

"Hmm, it's a light burn. Nothing a little disinfectant can't fix" the doctor said as he puts something like oil on it and wraps it up with bandages.

Great, my first day in New York and I end up in a hospital, wonderful, note the sarcasm.

In no time I'm ready to go. We greet the doctor goodbye and left the room. Walking back to the reception area, I noticed, that no one stopped us for any payment.

"Hey, aren't we gonna pay?" I called back but the receptionist laughed like I asked the most ridiculous question making my dislike for her grow.

"No need, I own the hospital," he said, shrugging as if it was nothing. I'm left dumbfounded. How does he own a freaking hospital? I’m sure my jaw was already on the floor as I struggled to understand him.

"Wait, so like your rich?" I blurted out and immediately covered my mouth.

"I'm a billionaire babe" he smirked in his response. A freaking billionaire? Wait, a second...

"You’re the billionaire, Ethan white?" he looked at me like I should have known. Someone, please hold me, I think I'm gonna faint. I overheard some people on the plane talking about Ethan white, who wonderfully secured a deal.

"That would be me," he said smugly. How I wanted to slap that smirk off his face.

"No wonder you're so arrogant" his smirk was instantly replaced with a poker face. I grinned at the fact that I won. Turning my gaze to my phone, I checked the time and oh my God, Funke's gonna be worried.

"I gotta go. But thank you for the hospital yabayaba" I said with a small smile and turned to find the way out.  Nice going Precious, you just had to bump into a freaking billionaire. Turning, I head out of the hospital and stood by the pavement trying to hail a cab, but I see none... Great, it's already late. Mr. Abbey came out of the hospital towards me. Was he going fine me now?

"Come on I'll take you to your place," he said with a calm expression and I'm shocked again.

"Aaha no need, thank you, I'll just take a cab" I answered, nervously. There is no way I'm going with him.

"You're not gonna see a cab, they are all gone. It's late already and besides, your suitcase is still in my car." shoot he's right, I cried internally. I didn’t want to go with him but I had no choice. The street was almost empty of cabs, or at least, I thought it was. It’s not like I’ve been here before.

I drew a long sigh before stepping into the car. I gave him my address and he drove off. I sat down in silence while playing with the hem of my gown. It was a beautiful Ankara short gown that had long sleeves and a flowing skirt that started from my waist to my knee. I loved this dress. My eyes were beginning to feel droopy after the long day but I tried to keep them open. Who knows? He might be a serial killer. However, my mind strangely told me otherwise, making it feel as though I was indeed safe.  My eyes didn’t listen of course and I doze off. Call me stupid.

I was geared awake by someone shaking me. I looked around frantically for what the problem was but settled down when I saw him.

"We're here" his voice reaches my ears and I sit up immediately. Removing the seatbelt, I opened the door and stepped out. I adjusted the skirt of my gown and took out my things from the car all the while Ethan stared at me with the same amused look he had, earlier on.

I walked gingerly to the other side of the car but stopped when I notice, an angry-looking Funke walking toward me.

"You have a lot of explaining to do, young lady" she fumed making me groan internally.

Turning my gaze back to the car, I see Ethan waiting. So, I go to him mumbling a ‘sorry’ to Funke.

"Thanks for dropping me home and not killing me," I said and laughed nervously. He simply looked up and smiled and let me just say, it was a beautiful sight.

"You’re welcome. You still haven't told me your name" I suppose it's the least I could do. He held out his hands for me to shake.

"I'm Precious Dare. Thank you again" I shook his hand and gasped, as I felt a small spark go through me, making me let go instantly. What was that? I looked at him and he was still smiling. Did he feel that too?

We bid ourselves goodbye, and he entered his car and left. I turned to meet an angry Funke.

"Explain" she dragged and I sighed explaining everything, as we headed inside.

Once we get inside, I immediately walked to where Funke said was my room, removed my clothes, took a bath, and hit my bed into la la land.

Ethan's POV

She was beautiful. One look at her and I knew she wasn’t from around here. I parked my car and stepped out.

Entering my penthouse, I go over everything that happened today. It's unusual of me to apologize to anyone but something in me sparked an interest for her and I just couldn't stop myself. Her hand fitted perfectly into mine. I had to stop thinking about this. I ran a hand through my hair in small frustration.

I didn't do relationships. I couldn’t trust those women; the ones I tried dating only wanted me for my money. How can I be so sure, she won't be like them?

I shrugged off the thought, as I might never even see her again. With a sigh, I walked over to my bedroom only to stop when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.

Taking it out, I unlocked the phone to see a message, reminding me of the lecture I had tomorrow at NYU. I dropped the phone on the desk and walked into the bathroom to freshen up.  Once I was done, I put on my boxers and dove right into bed.

I really hope I don't see her again.
