SANDRA could barely breathe. She tearfully put down her cup with coffee. Just thinking of it makes her more embarassed.
"Stupid, Sandra. Stupid!" Instead of trying to comfort her, she even bragged that she was too stupid to do that to Madame Madelle. When she told Tina about it over the phone, she hurriedly travel just to tease Sandra.
"Ayst, De Luna. Your stupidness even reaches the moon." She lower her head and remembered what happened yesterday. When Madame Madelle offered her to be her daughter-in-law she could not speak. She could not think of the correct answer. What should she answer? Yes, of course, Madame?
"What do you think, hija?" She blinks. Does she heard it right? Yes! Clear. She rethink her face. She can't calm down because she don't know how to answer her.
What should she answer? All right, madame? Doesn't she look too desperate? Yes, she was desperate. But that's not that! She's really surprised!
"Hey, hija. You know, I'm looking for a lady that will suit my son perfectly. Didn't Denver is your crush before?" She pressed her lip even tighter. No, she won't answer.
"DE Luna!" Sandra is at a charity ball with Tina. A shout grabbed her attention from her conversation with fellow designers. A tall man called to her. She smiled as soon as she met the man. She is one of her close colleagues in high school.
"Vera!" She kissed the young man's cheek as he approached her.
"I thought you were forever tied there to your husband, Kristine. I thought you forgot to come back here." Laughing, Tina refilled the young man's glass.
"What are you, Kyle?" Kyle turned to Sandra.
"What about you? You're still beautiful until now, De Luna. I wonder if I can still court you or maybe you already have a lover?"
"Hey, I'm still stressed because of that Moon."
"Spill the tea, Tina." Sandra just left them when they started gossiping. Kyle is a friend from High School. He's a straight but others don't think he is because he's very gossipy. He's young and rich. Single and ready to mingle. But he has very high standard. "Oh my gosh, so stupid. De Luna, that's a blessing."
He just stared at Kyle. Blessing. Yes, grace! Yes, it is bad to refuse grace! But this grace will give her heart attaks. Gracious. "Why? It's not bad to refuse grace once."
"Stupid, blessings like that only come once!" Her friend Tina couldn't understand her. She just sighed and continued drinking wine. She wasn't too drunk but the amount of she thinking turn her into one.
When she got home she just threw himself on the bed. She could not feel her own body. She pout her lips as Madame Madelle's offer comes to her mind again.
She wants it. She really does. Especially Madame Madelle was right in what she said. She has a crush for him before and even now. Who doesn't. Successful in the young age, besides being handsome, he's smart. Family oriented and really well known. She knew she wasn't the only one who liked Denver Ybarra. She only wonder why Madame Madelle choose her. Why her?
It's not that she underestimates herself but there are women out there who are more successful than Sandra. Children of well-known and famous people of the town. There is someone even better than her. She is beautiful, but not confident.
But why him? She got weakly shocked by the flick of her vein in her head. "It's just coffee." She pouted her lips even more before she decided to shower.
THE next day, she received a letter from the CEO of the Ybarra Construction Firm. The letter is about inviting her for a dinner since she's their future daughter-in-law. "What is this? What should I do now?
She laid the envelope on her desk and took the sketch pad to design new dresses. She just pours all the problems and questions in her mind with her designs. Her being a fashion designer is thankfully fun and unaffected.
"De Luna, Sandra." Tina entered his office. She's still wearing a shade even inside her office.
"Oh, I thought you were going back now?" Tina laughed at her.
"No, Sandra. I'll correct all your stupidity first."
"There we go again."
"Bestie, don't you want me to help you anymore? Idiot, who else will like you if you're a aged next year. Sandra De Luna, you're already thirty-one. It's good that Madame Madelle still wants you even though you're already thirty. "What if you're in forty? Do you think someone will still want you? You're about to menopause." She pulled Tina's hair. Tina just laughed out loud.
"Oh, oh, wait. Ouch! De Luna!"
"WHAT, Mom?!" Denver lightly slapped his forehead.
"Denver, especially since you're getting married next week, we want you to not know your bride, do we? So I'll invite her for dinner tomorrow night. You'll come, Denver."
No, he's not going. No! It's frustrating! "Don't give me that face, Denver."
"But, Mom! Why all of a sudden. I'm still on my 30's. I can also find a woman I would like to marry. Mom, come on!"
"That's it, Denver! You're thirty! You're off the calendar! Where are you going to find a woman to marry? When are you going to find that woman to marry? How long are we going to wait for your Dad? My son. It's you. You're all we care about!"
"Mom, if I'm the one you're worried about. Let me do things like this. Mom, this is my life. You can interfere with my work, correct my mistake. Mom, don't do this." His mother looked at him intently.
"You will come tomorrow. Try not to show up, Denver. Just try." His mother turned her back on him and then left his office. He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. He closed his fist tightly. This is not what he wants. Just over and over. How long will they understand he doesn't like it?
He slam the table loudly. "I won't come." For what else?
"IS that okay? Isn't it too revealing and my shoulder?" Disgusted Tina curls Sandra's hair. Earlier complaint complaint. She's going deaf.
"What? You've been asking that for how many minutes already? Hello, go ahead! Change if I only hear complaints from you. Why you said you don't want to come, but you're going to come!" Sandra calmed herself. Of course, why is she panicking? Why ?! Why?! Because her future husband just invited her to dinner!
"Hayst! What's that?! I thought he didn't want to get married, then why is he texting me to come!" She received a text from Denver this morning, preceded by his Mother telling her to come for dinner at Casa Ybarra. Sounds rich. Well, they are really rich. She don't have nothingvto say about how rich they are
"You know what, I feel like you really are meant to Denver. Isn't it? That's how it is when it's a fairy tale. Is that the choosy one, the indenial one. Perfect match I guess. But, ehem, you just liked him before, your future husband tomorrow. "
Future husband? She looked in the mirror. Her make up is light. Pink shade of lipstick. Just a little color on her eyelid. Her natural beauty is expossed. Back then he only dreamed of Denver. Back then he was like a cloud in the sky, hard to reach if you didn't have wings. Now, the clouds that he was trying to reach, she can reach it now.
'Dear Lord. I hope my decision was right. I will follow what my heart say. I hope this is right. Lord, if this decision of mine is not right, while it is still early, stop me. Stop my heart.'
"SANDRA, my darling!" Madame Madelle greeted him with a hug. She was wearing only a simple Blue Dress, a simple watch and a messy bun. "You look stunning." Madame compliments him.
"Thank you very much, Madame Madelle."
"Oh, hija. No need to call me Madame." Sandra smiled.
"All right, Ma'am." Madame Madelle laughed. They went to the dinning area together. Her husband, Sir Anthony Ybarra, was already at the table. He was wearing a formal suit. When his eyes went to Sandra, he stood up and smiled at her.
"Sandra De Luna, sir." She politely introduced himself. The couple looked at each other and then smiled at her.
"I am Anthony Ybarra." Said the old man. The CEO of Ybarra Construction Firm. She only saw him before in tabloids but she can see him in person.
"Nice to meet you in person, Sir Ybarra." He is in his mid-sixty. Even though the couple is old they look like very young and like teenagers. They are clingy.
"Let's sit down, hija. We'll just wait for Denver for a moment." Sandra rested deeply. This was the first time she would see Denver in person again, she was so nervous until twelve o'clock at night and they couldn't wait for the young man.
The couple apologized to Sandra. Sandra with a broken heart just smiled at them. "It's okay Sir, Ma'am."
What if they are married? She's afraid that things may get worse in the future, hopefully not. She sighed and got out of the car that had taken her to her house.
'Denver is against this marriage, what else can I expect?'
SHE never met him before marriage. She only have Madame Madelle by her side. It confuse her, if she will continue or just step back. It's pretty obvious that Denver don't like her. It's just she's martyr. But she wonder, for how long?"There, this off-shoulder gown is pretty for you, right? But I bet your backless too, that's also your bet, isn't it, Tina?" Tina happily nodded."Seriously, Madame. Even if it's not me who's gonna marry, I'm very happy."She just smiled at them. She shouldn't ruin the mood. She's getting married. She's getting married a day after tomorrow. But until now, she has not even seen her future husband in person. The preparation went well. From flowers to gowns, souvenirs and designs, foods to reception. This wedding is everyones dream wedding. She is happy but not as happy as how happy everyone was at her upcoming wedding."Anthony and I bought this house
THE next day, as a wife now, she wake up early and prepare breakfast for two. She prepare coffee, bread, fried rice, bacon and hotdogs. Hinintay nalang niyang bumaba si Denver para kumain pero magtatanghali na at lahat ay walang Denver na bumaba. He just waited for Denver to come down to eat but it was going to be noon and all Denver didn't come down. She turned off the water hose he was using to sprinkle the plants in front of the house. She entered the house and knocked on the door next to the master bedroom where he is but no one answered. "Denver, are you in there?"She hear nothing but silence, she tries to open it and it opens. When she wandered her eyes across the room there was no one. She smiled. "I guess I am all alone last night." She said. There is nothing as tangled as the bed sheet. The whole room is clean. Laughing, she closed the door of the room and then went downstairs to eat. She just waited for
"I DON'T care so shut the heck up!" Sandra seemed deaf when Denver shouted at her the next day after he came home from a month -long business trip. "You know what, no matter what you do, I don't care. I don't care about how you feel or what the heck up! I don't care! Screw this pathetic girl." Her tears streamed down through her cheek as her eyes heathens. She seemed to be pumped hard in her ear. She could not properly digest what he said."Do you really hate me that much?" She asked him. He turned his back to Sandra and glared intently to him. "I don't just hate you nor angry at you, I despise you. So hecking much." "Why? Why can't you open up yourself to me? I-" "What the heck, human? Are you kidding me? Open up myself to you? Huh! Go find those screws you lost and fix your mind." He left her there while Sandra was standing in the middle of the house. When the whole household was quiet, she fell to the floor. "Ma'am Sandra!" It wa
"ENOUGH, Sandra. Can you just. . . just mind your own? Stop making me guilty all the time." But Sandra just asked him if he had eaten yet."But-""Just. . . stop. I hate you but it doesn't mean I don't care." He whispered. "Just take care of yourself. Don't mind me, I can take care of my own."With that, he left Sandra in the kitchen. A week after she was hospitalized, she felt that the man was treating her better every day. She didn’t know if she would be happy or not because there seemed to be something wrong. When Denver asked her why she was rushed to the hospital she said she was just exhausted.'See what happened? Stop going to bed late at night just to wait for me. I can't take care of you, so take care of yourself.'"Ma'am Sandra. Please eat.""Do you think there's any hope that Denver's mind can be enlightened? I'm not here just because I want to have a family on my own but to seek love too." Emm
"YAH. What the heck did you do?" Sandra asked Tina. Tina silently laughed."Huh? What do you mean?""What do you mean? Are you crazy? You left early, you didn't even say goodbye, you left me confused. Then, Denver had been strange! What did you say to Denver?!"Tina burst out laughing. Her words are really powerful that what she thought. "I didn't say anything, are you accusing me?" She said with dead-malicious tone."Hey, you. I know you." She stared into the air."Oh, I thought you knew me?" Tina didn't do anything. She just said what Sandra deserve."SHOULD I let her in?" Always. Sometimes Cali thinks that he is the one cheating on Sandra. Denver seriously looked at him and shook his head. Cali surprisingly slam his table."What?" Denver asked him."Have you already realize Abby is just a bothersome?" Cali laughed. Denver did not say a word. "You know, you're a friend, but what you
". . . WHERE did you inherit a habit like that? Ah, maybe from your parents. Opps. You don't have parents, my bad, you lack care-"A slapped echoed inside the office. Those who witness it was beyond shock. Madame Madelle was the one who slap Abby."Fck." She commented. She smiled and glared at Madame Madelle but Madame Madelle slapped her again. Two consecutive slaps for Abby."Have you come to your senses, bitch?" Abby muttered curses before she looked at Madame Madelle again. Not afraid of getting slap again."This fcking witch is here." Abby said. "Ahh, where the boss is, the disciple is also there. Wow, what is this, reunion of the desperate--"'Ahh, this is the third.' Sandra was the one who slap her this time. "Do you know what to call a slap that lands on your face? It's called a slap for a desperate.""Desperate, my ass. On the two of us, you're the desperate one. Desperate to make Denver fall in love with you no matter how man
DENVER moved his body. He feel stif. He feel his head throobing and his temple is palpitating. The sunlight coming from the outside is dazzling him. He wonders why sunlight can penetrate his thick dark curtain? Then it hits him. 'Shit!' He thought when he saw his bed color white instead of ash gray. He got up and what he first saw is the interior of Sandra's room. He mentally faced palm when he realizes he entered the wrong room last night. 'Shit, this is embarrassing!'He saw no one in the bed with him that it relieves him. 'What the shit. I'm almost cause an incident.' He went out of the room and found nobody. 'Maybe she's already out for work.' Then his head throb. He quickly entered his own room and decided to have a shower. He turned it on Cold and had a bath until he got sober."WE will send it to your email, Mrs. Ybarra. Thank you!" A big fashion line contact her for collab project. She thought that why not? This is what she wants, having the career she wants and making it succ
IT WAS three o'clock in the afternoon when Sandra woke up. She gently rubbed her eyes before getting up. She does her daily routine and leaves her room in her night dress. She was not in the mood to go to work. No, her mind and body were tired. "I have prepared something for you to eat, Ma'am Sandra." Sandra sat down in front of the table and ate quietly while Emma stood behind her."Excuse me, Ma'am Sandra. A postman give a letter for you. It's still trendy, you know, letter and a postman. Aren't everything now is digital?" Sandra stopped eating. "There's what?" She curiously asked. Emma hurriedly left and picked up the letter she had received from the postman this morning. When she returned she handed it to Sandra. She sighed. It is an invitation from Vana West. An international gala. She was not in the mood to send an email as a thank you for the invitation. Sh just poured water into her glass and drank before returning to her ro
"You shouldn't have said that, Madame.""No. It's just right that I told him that. If he still has a conscience, if he can still think about of the others, he will do it. I spoiled him all the time, but that doesn't mean I can't discipline him. I would prefer to support Sandra in hiding rather than help them reconcile. I keep saying it over and over again, he doesn't deserve a second chance. He broke her once, but the damage was everlasting."Cali could only sigh as she watched Madame Madelle. This is a conversation where it seems she no longer wants to make with his child and Sandra to reconcile, but Cali feels the guilt within him. She is always saying that it's partly her fault, which he cannot argue against.I was forced. They are pushing it too much. They believed that infatuation is love, but it's merely an attraction—an attraction that ultimately leads both of them to ruin. It's a pity they didn't work out. "And there, it seems he couldn't handle my words; he left the house, a
"WHY are we here?" Anthony asked his wife once more. They were both standing in front of a metal gate with classical carvings. "Hm? I told you, we are going to meet a relative," Madelle happily answered her husband. "Relative? Mine or yours?" Anthony curiously asked his wife who was now gradually getting annoyed by the number of questions. "Ours, Anthony. Also, is it possible? You asked right, since leaving the Philippines, you've been asking more and more questions." "It's because you're confused. We don't have any relatives here? My family side is in Australia, yours. . ." Anthony stopped when Madelle gave him a bad look, "well." "Is it possible, I don't want to face them like this. You are ruining the mood, too much." "It's really my fault, it's you who acted impulsively. My goodness," Anthony scratched the back of his neck because Maddie didn't hit him. "We've been here for a while now. Why don't you ring the doorbell when we get inside," suggested Anthony. "Can you wait a
"THAT is all we got, Madame," said Madame Madelle's secretary. Madame was scanning through the papers and every single page of it was interesting. She didn't think everyone would reach such scenes. Even the two famous doctors were involved, and of course, the one and only, Cali. Madame Madelle sighed softly. She dismissed her secretary and proceeded on reading. When she read all the details of what Sandra has gone three years ago, she just closed her eyes because she was also guilty. She felt that she was not a good mother-in-law. But looking at the papers again, she smiled. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Despite everything she manages to go this far. Madame Madelle is beyond proud. If she was the only one in Sandra's situation, she would have chosen to wait until she died. Or worse she might think of getting revenge. She can't be the only one aggrieved, there should be sympathy. Madame Madelle looked at her watch and realized it was near dusk. From what he found out t
DENVER was sitting quietly in the living room when his mother came to him. Madame Madelle looked at him intently. The maid has also served him coffee, it's been so long since he came home and his mother just came home. He knows his mom has done something horrible to Abby. And he didn't want to ask anything, afraid that his mother might say something. His mother's face was reder than a tomato all thanks to the mixture of annoyance and anger. "Denver!" She points her finger at him. That alone made him know he really fucked up. He secretly shook his head. "Who are you really kidding, Denver? You can't serve two kings! You can't have two women! Grow up and stand. Choose who you really want to have. Do you really want Sandra to come back? Because if I'm the only one you ask, I'll support Sandra to hide and never show up on you again! Who would believe you love her if you're still like that? Still fooling around." Denver didn't say anything. The last time, he heard nothing. N
OH, goodness! When it rains, it pours. If it was Denver the other day, now it's Cali. Sandra suppressed a grimace due to Cali's beaming smile at her. “What now?” Sandra asked, her voice tinged with exasperation. “How are you?! We haven't talked in a long time!” Cali said, his enthusiasm almost overbearing. Sandra almost rolled her eyes in annoyance at the man in front of her. She didn't understand why he had suddenly appeared and what his intentions were. “Speak. I'm listening,” she said curtly. “Wow, so formal.” “Did he send you?” Sandra asked irritably, narrowing her eyes. “Who?” Cali feigned innocence. “Who else? And be straightforward with me. Why are you here? What do you want? I swear, you and Denver better stop bothering me, or I'll press charges!” “Did you see Denver? When?” Cali asked curiously. “Stop with the antics, Cali! If you irritate me any further, I will punch you!” A woman entered the café and sat beside Cali. “Hi, I'm Anastasia,” the woman introduced her
"ARE you home?" Sandra asked the nanny over the phone."We just arrived, Ma'am," the nanny replied."Alright. I'm coming home," she then ended the call. She's nervous. All of a sudden, she feels like something is wrong. She definitely sees the determination in his eyes. When she looked in the mirror, she saw a car following her from behind. She knows whose car it is. She doesn't know what she wants, but she wants to run away. The car follows her honks loudly, as if urging her to stop, but she doesn't want to. She doesn't want to listen to it. What? Why? For what? She thinks if she goes home, Denver will know where she lives. Or worse, he might see the kids, see her with the kids. She doesn't want that; what if he takes the kids away? But why is she here? It feels like just yesterday when Xyl told her he was in the Philippines and she was so happy to go clubbing with his mistress. Sandra angrily looked at the mirror again when it honked again."Damn it! Leave me alone!" she angrily sho
SANDRA was preparing breakfast when her little twins came to the kitchen and asked for a bottle of milk. Their eyes were still sleepy, which Sandra found cute.“Who wants some bread?” Sandra asked.“Me,” Demielle answered.“Fruits,” Denielle requested.“Hmm, okay,” she replied.“Mom, where's Dad?” asked Demi who's starting to get curious.“You mean, Daddy Xyl? He's out of the country. He left before Mommy Grace,” Sandra answered not giving too much attention to what her daughter asked. “Are they getting married?” Denielle spoke with the milk bottle in his mouth.“No speaking with your mouth full,” Sandra reminded them. “And no, they are not getting married yet.”Despite her answer to her son, Denie seems to know more.“Is Mommy Grace going to be a wife?” Demi innocently asked.“Yes, probably in the future," replied Sandra who starts getting curious why they are asking this kind of question.“Are you a wife, Mom?” Deni suddenly asked.“Of course, I am!” she answered enthusiastically.
Denver didn't know how to feel when he saw the photo his mother sent. It was annoying, frustrating, and infuriating. Especially now, seeing his mother smiling in front of him, sipping coffee, while his father was massaging her shoulders."I didn't know," his mother said. "I just intended to send a picture. I didn't know the camera went off.""You are lying again," he said angrily to his mother."I am not. I really don't know," she said, lowering the cup she was holding and looked at the photo again. "Wait, isn't that man beside her Dr. Xyl Infantes?""What?" Denver snatched his mother's phone aggressively."Denver!""It can't be.""But it is, isn't it. He's the CEO of Hope Hospital Chain, specialized in cancer patients. I heard he was also a neurosurgeon. And his best friend Grace is also a neurosurgeon. Wow."Denver felt even more annoyed by his mother's explanation, so he just left."If you hadn't refused the conference, right? Then you'll blame me. You're such a good child," his mot
“Freedom? Paano naman ako? Paano naman ako na hanggang ngayon nandito pa rin 'yong sakit?” Denver stepped out of the elevator.“Bakit, Denver? Kaninong kasalanan ba lahat ng ito? Yes, nasasaktan ka hanggang ngayon, pero alam mo rin ba ‘yong sakit na kinimkim niya? You're being selfish here, Denver?”“Selfish? Pinabayaan ko kayo sa gusto niyo. Pagiging makasarili pa ba na hindi ko kayo hinabol at hinayaan ko kayo sa gusto ninyo? Telle then, am I the one being selfish here?”Hindi na lang sumagot si Grace. Napairap siya at tinalikuran niya ang lalaki, ngunit bago pa siya makalayo ay tumunog ang telepono niya. When she saw the caller ID, she smirked. She answer the call and put it in speaker.“What?” nang lumingon siya ay nakaharap na si Denver sa elevator.“You're coming home?” the man spoke.“Yeah,” Grace simply amswered.“Good, I and Sandra will prepare when you get back. Just tell us when?’Ding. The elevator opened.“Geez, sure. Might as well confess your love. It's been three years
