The pain she felt now was unlike anything she had ever experienced before. Not even when she caught her mate with her step-sister or when Raymond spoke rudely to her – this was on a different level. It wasn’t a physical ache but a tormenting anguish, a fire burning in her chest that felt almost palpable.

Her eyes were glossy with tears as she looked around the room, trying to clear her vision. Jennifer couldn’t think straight; she felt completely overwhelmed and unaware of what was happening to her.

Wrapping a black scarf over her nightgown, she left the bedroom, not wanting others to see the dark veins that had emerged on her body. She tried to compose herself and made her way to the main door of the pack house.

As she passed by, the maids bowed to their Luna. Jennifer stopped and looked at them, her voice trembling but firm, “Go back to your rooms. You don’t have to work now and should rest.”

The maids were taken aback by her request, but they dutifully followed their Luna’s orders.
