Mira's POV

One weird stuff after another was going all around me.

That included my mother's phone being not reachable for almost twenty four hours but that didn't stop the daily flow of mundane life.

I had classes to attend and I wasn't allowed a single day of leave unless I was dying, that is.

It was excursion day and everybody was gearing up before the bus left for the site.

I had my bag packed and cap and sunglasses on. We were going on a near by mountain. That place was not widely known but had a very rich and ancient local history. We were going to find out about that.

We were travelling in small batches, so we would all comfortably fit the the sixteen seaters.

You will be shocked if I tell you who was my seat mate.

It was Betty.

I sat there looking out of the window as she powdered her face repeatedly with the brush.

She hated the sun so much that she kindly obliged to my request to have the window seat.

With the things going on around me, I could have easily thought th

The crisp rustling of fallen foliage intensified as an Akhashi ran for his life. He quickly transformed into a wolf and leaped forward and after a few feet, he changed back into a fox galloping as fast as he could on all four of his limbs. The Akhashi tribe from Chemora had the ability to shift between canines. With repeated transformations, they were able to diffuse the scent left behind on their track. But this particular Akhashi wasn't trying to do that. He was trying to shift into the fastest four legged canine because for him it was life and death. He was a spy ,sent to the Xoron clan. The Xorons were a shady tribe and nobody knew much about their territories or rulers. They never participated in inter-tribe dialogue either. A thick wall made of dense, thorny, carnivorous shrubs, marked the starting of their land. Nobody dared trespass because of two main reasons. First, they were monstrous, unruly creatures. And second, their territories were believed to be on waste lands, anci

Mira's POV"Doesn't it feel eerie? " Stella was clinging to my back, effectively putting all her weight on my backpack, making it heavier. I could see Razzak up ahead with the female teacher. She had her notes open and was jotting down every pointer. " This is a once in a lifetime opportunity Mira. I want to do my best for a change. " She said. Betty was stuck like glue with Kian. They were right behind us. It had been a little awkward between the two of us since he saved me for the second time. We just smiled and nodded but neither of us talked about the incident. I didn't because I didn't want to put him in an awkward position. Whatever he did, wasn't normal but I had already witness things out of the ordinary with other people, namely, Xen and Braze. Talking about Braze, he was nowhere to be seen. He was the Principal's son. He had privileges we commoners didn't. He probably had taken the day off. We were divided into several smaller groups and each teacher was incharge. Wi

Mira's POV We couldn't keep up with our conversation for much longer as the clouds around us darkened. The howl seemed like it was getting closer and suddenly it started raining. " Let's get out of here. We will talk about this later. I promise. " I grabbed Kian's hand and literally pulled him along with me. I was immune to the rain but he was sophisticated and delicate. I could not put my only companion in that desolate place in harm's way, not to forget that he was also my savior on several occasions. Kian ducked as I sped up. Branches and leaves from several trees brushed against us. Some scratching our skin and some tearing parts of our clothes. " Here, use this to shade your head. " I stopped as I saw a banana tree and tore its biggest leaf for Kian to use as an umbrella. It was raining cats and dogs. " You take it. I'm aaa... al... alright.. tttt... (achooo) " , he stuttered, trying to stop the sneeze but it came out amplified. " The rain never bothers me, " brought my lip

***At the Marine Tribe in Chemora - Queen Asa's palace***She could not close her eyes. Something inside her was telling her that the powers within her son had awakened. Yet she had no way to confirm. They had the powers which no other tribe in Chemora had. They could talk to the ocean. The waves brought news for them , from the future, past and present. Queen Asa walked towards the window, watching the waves crash against the rocks, helpless. " I was once like you. " She was talking with the foams left behind, " powerless and unknown, till I thought of taking matters into my own hand. "An eerie giggle rang behind her as she jumped and turned back. " Are you talking about your marriage? " The voice echoed through the emptiness making her toe curl. She knew exactly the source. She knew where the voice was coming from. She tip-toed towards the full size mirror. It had a black cloth over it and Asa stood right in front of it and said, " I thought you couldn't talk with this cloth

It must have been hours. Mira and Kian were still going in circles, looking for a way out. They had no way of knowing that they did not come to that spot by themselves. They were brought there. All four of them. Because they had met each other. All Chemorian had one single power source and it was intricately related with The Heartstaff. The rise of the Sountern Star was near. Every tribe was in fear. They had no other option but to send their best new-borns to planet Earth, with a filament of the Heartstaff's resonance, buried deep inside their hearts. It would act as the alarm for their awakening. It would draw them towards their mission. Braze and Xen had decided to meet atop those mountains as well, to know more about each other and share more of their secrets. The mountain was something they both agreed on but Braze seemed to reach early. He had skipped school, completely unaware that the entire class was headed there. Little did they know that things would get complicate

" Kian, I think we are going in circles. I know it seems like every way looks the same but I can guarantee you, I have seen this tree with a single red flower, now for the fifth time. We are lost. "Mira sat on the muddy, water logged path with a thud, splashing Kian as well. " We were already lost Mira. Why are you suddenly getting so worked up? Don't worry. I am here to protect you. I will fight the wolf if it comes to bother you again. "He was gearing up into a Muay Thai fighting stance but then Mira's stomach growled and she looked up at him with apologetic eyes. " I'm sorry, but it's difficult for me to control my hunger. I couldn't even find any edible looking fruits. What kind of foliage do they have in this place? It's all decorative , useless. "Kian nodded his head. " Makes sense why the place doesn't have any population. Never mind. Get up. Climb on my back. I will carry you around until we find some food. "Kian bent low and extended his hand. Mira looked at him with

" So, this guy was after Braze and Braze is a wolf and Braze chewed a little bit of his jacket along with his flesh and then you knocked him off. "Kian was asking this for the third time not really expecting Xen to answer. " What was it that he could do, again? " Xen turned his attention towards Mira, who was sitting beside Braze, trying to clean his wounds with her handkerchief that she had dipped in the little pond. " He can jump real high and glide. " Mira answered as nonchalant as if it was an everyday occurrence. " What about you? " Kian asked Xen. " His hand transforms. I saw it the to her night in my dream... " and then she realised the absurdity of the statement. She looked at Xen, her eyes gleaming with the new filled of realisation. " You can summon people too. Can't you? That night, it was you who whisked me off to that place. Wasn't it! Or was it me? "Mira patted herself down as if checking for some superpower that could have been hidden in her pocket. Xen smirked

" Thank you Ma'am... " Stella turned to wave their savoir angel goodbye as soon as they saw the base camp and one teacher waiting with a few more students. But the moment they turned their head, she was gone, with no trace. They looked at each other but the joy of being saved was too great. They ran to meet the others as the teacher checked on them. One by one students and teachers kept coming out. Some individually limping and bleeding, perhaps from steep falls or slides , and some came out soaked and muddy, hurdled in mini groups. It was almost night so they immediately started a head count before trekking back to the ground, where the buses were. " Kian... Kian is missing.... I couldn't find him... "Betty had come out of the forest with the earliest groups but she had gone back again to look for Kian. She was the last one to come out again when the head count started and crashing on the ground, yelled with her hands up. " Mira is missing as well..." Razzak came forward with wo

" Don't you know dear that we don't talk about her? Not in the night. No, my little darling. Never. I will tell you all about her in the morning. Alright? "But the little girl looked very angry at her mother. " But why mother, was she not the one who brought peace and tranquility over our planet? " Her tiny voice was fierce and strong. The woman quickly pulled the blinds around her place and closed her windows. The little girl had been looking at a statue at the Central Square. It was snowing in Chemora and the snow made the star above her head absolutely white. " I will tell you the story. I will tell you the story again. But not during the hours of the darkness, my little angel. It is not safe. You know what's going on. " The mother begged. Almost terrified. " Alright. I will wait till the sunrise. Yo

He was yet to complete his research papers. They were due for submission within a month . He has been lost in stargazing lately. Particularly gazing at a distant star. His phone rang breaking his undivided concentration. " You must come over at the observatory , Braze. Something phenomenal is happening with your star. You cannot miss it. The telescope at your place is not strong enough to capture this miracle. " What is it? "Braze asked as his breath picked up pace. Even though he could not properly see what was happening, he knew something was different about his star that day. Braze hit the brake hard as the voice from the other end hung up after telling him that, " It was the birth of a star. " It's time to say our goodbyes, my sweethearts. Let's meet again in the next life. "The boys opened their eyes as they sat up with a jolt. They were under the stars. There was darkness everywhere around them. They were on top of the highest peak around. Their clothes were around as they sat there and looked up at the twinkling wonders above their heads. A particularly bright star shone so bright that it made every around them as clear as the moonlight. They looked at each other and then they looked up above. They could not understand what they were doing. They immediately ran towards their clothes when the realisation of their n*kedness finally hit them. " Do we know each other? "One of them asked as the others looked at him with more confusion. " I think we do. Are we waiting for someone? " Another one asked. " I think we are here because of that. Razzak laughed as she shoved them to the side and went ahead and hugged Mira, who reciprocated the action with a smile. " Thank you for giving my memories back. "Mira was looking extremely refreshed and strong. The fear and unease that was darkening her face was gone. " You don't need to thank me. I took my chance. I always wanted to know more about you. " One blow after another sent tremors all around as the boys fought hard to maintain their defense. Even with their collective effort, it was difficult for them to counter so many successive attacks. " Mira, you can end this! " Kilian yelled from the other side. " All that I ask from you is to come back with me. Everything can be like it used to be. Just come back to me Mira. Earth had become a ragging battle field. There was news about random blasts and terrorist attacks all over the news. There was a frenzy everywhere as people ran indoors to hide inside their homes and basements. The Watcher Headquarters was going crazy, trying to handle calls from all the Presidents and Prime Ministers. It was true that they were answerable but the situation had blown out of proportion. They had no other choice than to call back their very best. Rozelle, George and Robert, walked back in the building, matching their steps. "Never thought that I would be back in business! " George stretched as the humanoids greeted them with coffee mugs. " Who would have thought that Gala had developed such a wonderful anecdote. She is talented, isn't she? " Rozelle read Robert's expression closely as she asked the question. Robert knew that he was in a tricky situation. He had to praise Layla for her credibility but he had to do so without making his lover jealous. " Life, my d

" Why did we stop here? We should be running. This place is not very far from Guardian Yvonne's place. Kilian can catch up at any moment. "Xen yelled, paranoid. " Wait! Martha is relaying a message. We wouldn't get it if we crossed this perimeter. Ssshhh! Listen carefully, it's Yvonne. Is he... is he talking with Kilian? "Calex looked concerned. There was absolute silence as they listened to their conversation carefully with the help of the connection that Martha had created -" There was a time when I used to admire my sister. I used to look up to her. But then they began to shower unnecessary praises on her while all she did was sneak out to meet with men. Like I didn't know what she was doing in the name of training for strength. "" What rubbish! Kiara never saw any men apart from Calex. And your tribe ostracized her for that. It seemed like he had run a million miles but he went straight for her, scooping her off the ground and kissing her in front of them all. " We need to get her out of here. Kilian is on his way. He is coming with his army. "Xen turned around at Braze and Kian, as if nothing had happened." How did you know that we were here? "" How does Kilian know? "Came the dual accusation. Xen signed and slowly unbuttoned his shirt and pointed towards his chest. " I did not know that we could still use this but when Kilian was chasing after my ship and wrecked it into half, my instinct kicked in. I could feel the two of you. And the power of the Staff manifested from my chest. "Xen pounced over the two of them and grabbed them into a bear hug with both his hands. " I missed you both! "His words came out of nowhere. They had been sitting beside each other for hours but neither had been talking. Finally Calex took the initiative to break the ice. " I am sure you father would understand. "Braze was startled by his statement. " Love makes us do all sorts for stupid things, " Calex continued as Braze looked at him with confused eyes. " I hope you are not being too hard on yourself. Guilt is a very dangerous weapon. It keeps cutting you from the inside while nobody get to know how you are exactly feeling. " He tried to smile at Braze and that definitely made Braze feel more awkward. " You know, I used to love Kiara, Mira's mother, just like you love Mira. " Braze could tell that he was putting real effort into that conversation. His voice was shaky and his eyes were turning red as he spoke. The topic was sensitive, yet he was willing to make things clear. Guardian Yvonne had gone to look for Kian and the Marine Queen while Mira was sleeping in her room.
