Dating my Ex-boyfriend’s Daddy
.Chapter 2: congrats in getting leftovers.—A WEEK LATER—.“So how does it feel?”. Someone breathes into my ear just before I manage to sit down at my desk.I suppressed a shudder at the disgusting breach of personal space from my coworker.Jessica is her late 30s but it’s so ridiculously embarrassing that she seems to find joy in making my miserable life… a lot more miserable.I arched an eyebrow at her. “What are you talking about?”.“How does it feel to know you’re only here because you are dating the CEO’s only son, hm?. I heard you two broke up, if his new girlfriend comes along you’ll be kicked out of here like the unwanted trash you are.”If I had the energy, i would remark on how childish Jessica was acting right now but I can barely go into a argument with my emotional stability in shambles.News have spread about the company on how Joshua and I had broken up.It’s been a week since the relationship ended but it still feels like yesterday since my co-workers won’t let me move on and the fact that Joshua‘s office is just three floors above from mine isn’t helping either. As if avoiding going back to my father’s house so I wouldn’t get tainted by Amelia and her mother wasn’t enough; it looks like avoiding coming to work would be the next thing to do since my failed relationship with Joshua has become the subject of topic in the company. My life is just so miserable. So, I just sigh as I sit on my desk chair and turn on my computer, pointedly ignoring the sneers from the others around me, instead focusing on the throbbing ache in my heart. It sucks.Honestly sucks that I had managed to make hedge way into the career of my dreams, and I managed to clinch a position in the one of the biggest companies but people are only contributing my success to Joshua because he is my boyfriend.Ex-Boyfriend, I mean. After turning on my computer and logging in, I’m actually surprised to find jobs in my inbox that relate to my job position.I am to walk to an office on the top floor, find the hard copy of permission forms for artists to be able to be on camera and then I have to scan them onto the computer to file away electronically.I can do that.Maybe I won’t run into Joshua on the way there, just maybe hopefully...---Throughout my ride in the elevator to the top floor of the tall building, I suddenly become aware of the caliber of person that would occupy a desk on the very top floor.Am I about to meet a high level manager? The president or the vice-president?The H.R?The main CEO himself?Honestly, I should know exactly who the CEO of the company I work for is but this whole Joshua issue, I’m less interested in meeting his Dad and I’ve decided I want to know very little about anyone with the power to fire me.I just want to focus on my job and try and find a different one before next month so I won’t have to deal with breathing the same air as a certain Joshua Roswell. The elevator’s ding surges anxiety through my veins and I take a deep breath before walking up to a reception desk before two large, black doors.I feels completely out of my depth.“Can I help you?” The old woman at the desk asks. She seems to be in her sixties, looking at me expectantly, like I’m about to cause trouble.“I’m here for the artist consent forms for Music Video 213.” I say, a polite smile plastered to my face. The woman lowers her glasses down the bridge of her nose so she can stare into my face. At the lack of reply, I retrieve my company ID and hold it out. “I’m an employee? Addison Garcia .. .”The reception furrows her brows but nods at the ID before typing, albeit extremely slowly, on her keyboard. After several silent minutes she nods her head towards the doors which are automatically opening.“3rd room on the left.. The Managing Director Office.” The woman says passively, ignoring how ashen my face turned. After walking through the double doors, I’m met with a long corridor with four doors on either side.I recognize Joshua’s office and take a deep breath before walking to the 3rd door on the left and knocks then a familiar, “Come in” beckons me in.Ok! You can do this! Addison! Just go in and don’t pay any attention to the piece of trash...I wasn’t ready to be met with the sight of my half-sister leaning on the front of Joshua’s desk in front of me.Of course! The universe hates me so much I should have expected this.“Hi, Addison.” Lia says with so much loathing in her voice as she stared at me with contempt. “Come in.”I walked further into the room. “What are you doing here?.”“What am I doing here?.” Lia scoffed at my question rolling her eyes at me. “My boyfriend asked me to come here, of course.”Boyfriend?Since when did Joshua turn to her boyfriend in a space of one week?“Yes boyfriend.” Lia repeated with a curling smirk at the side of the lips.“I don’t ... .” I shook my head avoiding eye contact with her. “I don’t care about that. Where’s Joshua? I came here for some consent forms.. .”“That’s M.D to you!.” She snapped at me immediately. “Is that how you address your higher-ups?.”I clenched and unclenched my fists as I forced myself to show a polite smile. “I mean, where’s the M.D? He needs to give me consent forms for our new artists ..”“Well my boyfriend is ... .”“Lia. I talked to the doctor and he scheduled an....__.”I turned sideways to see Joshua coming back into his office from his balcony, he stopped what he was saying on seeing me.Seeing the mischievous glint in Lia’s eyes, I knew better than to dwell on what Joshua was saying about going to the hospital.Joshua certainly moved on...Thinking of that made me wish I didn’t just leave his house crying. I should have broken something on both he and Lia’s head before leaving them.I cleared my throat looking down at my feet. “I’m here for the consent forms.” I say speaking lowly not trusting myself to suddenly burst into tears on seeing Joshua. He nodded turning his almond shaped brown eyes away from me as he walked towards his desk pulling out different drawers before finally bringing out a stack of papers to hand to me.I walked forward and took the papers from Joshua’s outstretched hand, completely avoiding touching any part of his fingers as I nod politely. He nodded awkwardly bringing his hands back to his side too.“Thanks for the forms.” I say turning around to immediately head down to my department when Lia’s voice stopped me.“Addison?? Is there a trash bin outside the office?.”I furrowed my eyebrows looking back at Amelia wondering why she would ask that. “No, why?.”“Oh I just wanted you to help me throw this away.” Lia says shrugging as she placed a pregnancy test kit on the table.I glanced at the kit and it was as if my head was suddenly plunged into an ocean and I couldn’t pull myself out of it as I stared at those two lines that indicated positive on the kit ....Joshua immediately snatched it from the table as he glared at her.“What?.” Lia shrugged with a quirky half-smile on her lips. “I just wanted to tell my sister some good news!.”Joshua frowned at her raising his fingers to point directly in her view. “Don’t!!. Don’t try that shit ever again!.” He said and turned to me with this guiltiness swirling in the pool of his eyes. “Addison. I__.”But I wasn’t about to fall for that.“Once again, Congratulations, Lia!.” I said focusing on keeping my breathing slow and steady..TBCDating My Ex-Boyfriend’s Daddy.Chapter 3: heartbreak is death itself .—ANOTHER WEEK LATER—*Addison*“Are you holding silent conversations with yourself again?.” I turned to my left seeing Devin, a co-worker and coincidentally, my best friend’s boyfriend. “Hey, Devin.” I say, my voice cracking a little bit. He sighed bringing up his hand to touched my forehead as he gave me a look. “You have been crying all day, haven’t you?.” I’m not sure if it’s the exhaustion of the different panic attacks I had today or the soft encouraging look from Devin that spurs me to suddenly be so open, but I’m too tired and I just feels like I’m failing.“I want to die, Devin... .” I rasped out blankly staring at the cars driving out of the company’s driveway. “It’s been weeks and I feel like I can’t catch a break in this company.” “Addison ... .” He mutters in response reaching out to hold my hand. “I feel like I’m nothing without Joshua.” I replied shakily. “No, no, no.” Devin disagrees with
Dating my Ex-Boyfriend’s Daddy.Chapter 4: Emotionally assassinated. *Joshua’s POV* “Get down from that railing!!. Now!!.” And then giggling followed after that. I paid no attention to my mother chasing my little sister as I had more issues of my own. That issue being Addison.I groaned out of frustration again when my call goes nowhere. I had been trying to reach Addison since for the last 2 weeks now but to no avail. I even tried multiple times to approach her at work but she always found a way to avoid me completely. And this was because of the bomb that Lia dropped on her about she being pregnant. And that infuriated me. Lia was pregnant yet but I haven’t even confirmed if it was my baby. The faint sound of a doorbell chiming through the sitting room was what distracted me as I tucked my phone into my trousers pocket and walked over to my mother. My mother, Emily Calloway, formerly a Roswell before she divorced my father. She had only appeared in the Roswell mansion tod
Dating my Ex-Boyfriend’s Daddy .Chapter 5: perfect misunderstandings . “Joshua Roswell just walked in,” Devin says.Addison’s heart falls into her stomach. She hasn’t seen Joshua since Lia dropped that news on her a week ago. The office that Joshua works in is three floors above from the floor that Addison works on, and she has been avoiding it like the plague throughout the day, sending other coworkers on any errands that would usually bring her there. She takes a deep breath, frowning. “Okay. Well, I should probably go home anyway. The club isn’t booming that well.”“No!” Tara says, reaching out and grabbing Addison’s hands. “I’m not ready to go yet.”“We don’t have to go together,” Addison mumbles. She slides down a little bit so that the back of her head isn’t visible from behind the booth. “You still remember where you live, don’t you? You aren’t that drunk!.” “But what about the cab fare! We were going to split it! And I can’t take the subway by myself, I’ll fall over an
Dating My Ex-Boyfriend’s Father.Chapter 7: it’s an awkward meet-cute . “Joshua, this is my boyfriend.”The corners of his mouth twitch. “What?”.“Yes,” Addison repeats. “My boyfriend. His name is...”“Dad?.”“Javan Roswell,” The man says, and it sounds like he’s choking back a laugh. “My name is Javan.”Javan Roswell. The CEO. Joshua has the petrified expression on his face that makes Addison confused as he turns back to her. “You are my father’s mistress?.” Addison’s mouth falls open. “Wait ... what?.” “Watch your tone!.” Javan snaps at his son immediately.“Why should I ?.” Joshua scoffed turning back to Addison. “So all this while you cried wolf about me cheating on you with Lia, you were actually doing the same?”. Addison frowns as she garners the strength to talk back at him. “Do I look like your slut of a girlfriend ?.” “I would like to think so because what are you doing with a man who’s old enough to be your father ? Are you that shameless that you need to go after m
Dating my Ex-Boyfriend’s Father.Chapter 8: unknowingly snagged a CEO .*ADDISON* “But, I mean… are you here with anyone? I don’t want to have stepped on any toes. I don’t want anyone dragging my hair out—”. “In case you forgot, my son just mentioned that I’m a divorcée, for the record.”“Right,” Addison says, wincing. “Sorry.”“I’m not here with anyone who would care,” Javan says. He tucks some hair behind his ear. Addison is surprised to see that his fingers are tattooed. “I’m just with some friends.”“Let me buy your next drink,” Addison says. “I mean, as a thank you. For helping me. Not to like, hit on you. I’m not doing that. You are older than me, gosh. Joshua mentioned 18 years older? I mean, I shouldn’t even be making passes at you. I wouldn’t do that. Well, I mean, I would, but—”“It’s fine,” Javan says, laughing and waving her off. “I get it. But you don’t have to do that.”‘“Are you sure? I feel like I owe you.”“I don’t like it when people owe me,” Javan says, shruggin
Dating My Ex-Boyfriend’s Father.Chapter 9: a show off between exes . “So, you didn’t tell me about your job?” Addison asks.“If you think your job is boring, mine will put you to sleep,” Javan says, smiling. He has a very kind face. “I head the whole activities of Roswell Corporations.”“You could have just said that you are—.”“I’m the CEO.” How she ended up getting the CEO to act as her fake boyfriend is still a mystery to Addison. “And you get to dress like that for work?” She asks, eyeing Javan’s flannel and cargo pants. She stares down at her own outfit—her rumpled dress shirt, her fitted grey slacks, her shiny boots. She looks awfully stuffy in comparison.“Yeah. The nice thing about being the boss of your job is that everything is more casual,” Javan says. “The dress code isn’t strict since I make them, and I never interact with our clients, pass messages through the personal assistant, so I don’t care about my tattoos.”Addison glances at the tattooed fingers wrapped ar
Dating My Ex-Boyfriend’s Father.Chapter 10: a ruse, and nothing more.“Let’s put on a show,” Addison says, grabbing Javan’s hand and tugging him onto the dance floor. Addison isn’t necessarily expecting Javan to be a very good dancer considering his age, but he takes the lead easily, his hands low on Addison’s hips, pulling her in close. It’s easy and effortless, and more than anything, it’s fun—the DJ is playing song after song after song, but Addison doesn’t feel like much time has passed at all. She’s losing herself to the music, just perfectly drunk enough to feel warm and buzzy and careless, and she all but forgets about the unpleasant situation that’s led her to dance with Javan in the first place. Her world has narrowed down to the heavy thrum of the bass, the flashing lights above them, and the feeling of Javan’s warm, solid body against her.Javan seems like he’s having fun, too. He’s all bright smiles and laughter and gentle touches, eyes solely focused on Addison as
Dating my Ex-Boyfriend’s Father.Chapter 11: now the play is over. “Do you think he’s convinced?” Addison asks, cocking her head. “That you’re my boyfriend?”“That depends,” Javan says. “How convinced do you want him to be?”Javan’s gaze flickers down to Addison’s lips.“Very,” She murmurs quietly. They’re barely dancing anymore, but Addison doesn’t care much. She hardly notices the bodies jostling them on all sides, dancing and laughing and pushing.Javan lifts a hand to Addison’s face, cupping her cheek. Addison tilts her chin up, leaning into the touch. Their noses brush. Neither of them move.“Is this more convincing?” Javan breathes.“Probably,” Addison says. “Convincing enough, then?”“No.”“No?”“No, I don’t think so.”“Mmm,” Javan says, his thumb tracing over Addison’s cheek. “You’re very demanding.”“And yet you’re still playing along.”Their noses brush again. Addison fists Javan’s flannel in both hands, squeezing the fabric bunched together in her palms. There’s nothin
