Chapter 67: The best presentation

The next morning, Chelsea dressed up quickly, adjusting her dress before stepping out of her bedroom. Today was another busy day at culinary school, and she was determined to make the most of it.

As she walked toward the kitchen, she was surprised to find Reese already there, setting the table. The delicious aroma of eggs and toast filled the air.

“Morning,” Chelsea greeted, raising an eyebrow. “You’re up early.”

Reese flashed her a small smile. “I thought I’d make breakfast before we both head out. Figured we could use a good meal before the day starts.”

Chelsea chuckled and took a seat at the counter. “That’s sweet. I could get used to this.”

Reese poured her a glass of juice before sitting down across from her. “Actually, I’ve been thinking about something… and I’d love to talk to you about it.”

Chelsea raised an eyebrow. “I’m all ears. What’s up?”

Reese hesitated for a moment, tapping her fingers on the table. “So, last night, I was scrolling thr

Her phone vibrated on the car seat beside her, and she rolled her eyes.It was Mr Alvin and of course he wanted everything prim and proper. Just as she was about to get out of the car,a voice coming from behind her suddenly shocked her. "Chelsea!" - There is no time to talk. Mr. Alvin awaits, besides he has been calling and you didn't bother to pick up.” She glanced upwards and saw Vivian, her colleague, eagerly motioning for her to come over. Chapter 2: PainChelsea remained motionless, embarrassment burning her cheeks. Her hands shook as she rubbed them on her apron, desperate to calm herself, but her stomach churned violently. The room felt suffocatingly quiet, as though all the air had been sucked out. She could feel eyes on her, gazes laced with judgment, pity, or even amusement. Her eyes darted to Adams, pleading silently for him to speak, to say something that could make this nightmare bearable. For years, he had been the man she adored, the one she believed would always stand by her. Surely, he wouldn’t just sit there and let this happen.“Adams?” she finally managed to whisper, her voice trembling. “Are you not going to say anything?”He glanced at her, and for a fleeting moment, she saw a glimpse of the man she used to know. But it vanished almost instantly, replaced by a cold, disdainful smirk.“Why should I?” he asked, his tone sharp and cutting. “Chelsea, take a good look at yourself. You’re pathetic. You look

Chapter 3: Moving AwayThe drive to Reese’s house felt endless, as though the road stretched longer with every heavy thought that crossed Chelsea’s mind. She gripped the steering wheel tightly, her knuckles turning pale as the weight of the day's events pressed against her chest. Every moment replayed vividly—the wedding, Adam’s cutting words, and the disdain in his eyes. She blinked hard, trying to keep the tears from spilling again, but the sting of betrayal was too raw.Reese’s house came into view—a sleek, modern structure nestled in the quiet suburbs. It had always been a haven for Chelsea, a place where life felt less complicated. She parked the car and sat there for a moment, taking in the sight. How would she explain everything to Reese? How could she put into words the humiliation, the heartbreak, and the anger? After a deep breath, she stepped out and walked to the front door. Before she could knock, the door swung open, and there stood Reese, her face instantly clouding wit

Chapter 4: Fresh StartAs soon as Chelsea and Reese stepped off the plane, the intense heat of Columbia greeted them like a warm, smothering blanket. It was stifling yet oddly rejuvenating, as though the sweltering air carried with it the promise of a new beginning—a fresh start. Chelsea shielded her eyes against the bright sun, taking in her surroundings, while Reese appeared perfectly composed, her sunglasses shielding her from the glare as they made their way toward a waiting vehicle. The journey from the airport was swift, the city zipping past in a blur of bright colors, bustling streets, and vibrant energy. Columbia was unlike New York, brimming with a unique charm that felt chaotic and alive all at once. Soon, their vehicle pulled up to a towering gate that opened slowly, revealing a sprawling mansion on the other side.“Is this your residence?” Chelsea asked, her jaw nearly dropping.Reese turned to her, a wide grin spreading across her face. “Yep. Shawn, his right-hand man, was close behind, his expression stoic as he matched Liam’s pace. Two security guards trailed them, carrying a black box, which they placed on the glass-top table in front of Liam.Liam gestured toward the box without a word, his face hard as granite. "Open it. Tell me what’s inside."Shawn hesitated for a brief moment, then carefully lifted the lid, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the contents. He suddenly froze, shock flashing across his usually composed features. He looked back up at Liam, his mouth opening as if to speak but nothing coming out.Liam raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Shawn’s reaction. "Well? Out with it."Shawn swallowed, his voice tense. She hadn’t intended to lose the baby, only to garner Liam’s sympathy and drive him further from Chelsea. Now, her rage burned through her veins as she clutched her phone tightly, waiting for Valerie to pick up.“Hello?” Valerie’s voice came through, cautious but sharp.“Get the doctor in here. Now,” Aria demanded, her tone venomous.“Aria, calm down—”“Don’t tell me to calm down!” she snapped. “This wasn’t supposed to happen! You’re going to tell him I’m in critical condition. Make it believable, or so help me—”The doctor nodded nervously. “I’ll do as you say. Chapter 63: Heavy with tension The room was heavy with tension as Aria sat in her hospital bed, sipping water through a straw. Her features were calm, but her mind raced. She knew the doctor would do as he was told; the fear in his eyes had confirmed that. Still, loose ends worried her, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that someone might betray her.Valerie entered the room, closing the door softly behind her. She looked flustered, her usual confidence slightly shaken."Aria, we need to talk," Valerie said, her voice low."What is it?" Aria asked, narrowing her eyes.Valerie hesitated, glancing at the door as if to ensure they were alone. "Someone called me earlier. They know about the plan."Aria’s grip on the water glass tightened. "Who? What did they say?""They didn’t give a name, but they made it clear they know about the fall, the lies—everything," Valerie said, pacing the room. "They said secrets like ours don

From the corner of her eye, she saw Valerie standing at the bottom of the stairs, nodding subtly as though everything was in place.Aria’s heart raced—not from fear, but from anticipation. She had rehearsed this moment countless times with Valerie and her trusted doctor. It was a calculated risk, but one she deemed necessary to manipulate Liam further. She didn’t plan for anything extreme, certainly not losing the baby, but she needed to create the perfect storm. Her foot hovered over the next step, her ankle turning deliberately, and before she could catch herself, she plummeted downward. Most of it seemed mundane at first glance—bank statements, legal documents—but it was the handwritten note that caught his attention as it fluttered to the floor.Bending down, he picked it up and read the words written in bold, blocky letters:Do you want to know who Chelsea really is?Liam’s scoff filled the room. Whatever they thought they could use to shake him wasn’t going to work.Without hesitation, he tore the note in half, then in half again, letting the pieces scatter into the trash can beside his desk. Turning to his right-hand man, Derek, who stood silently nearby, Liam’s tone was cold and commanding.“Find out where this envelope came from.
