Becca hiccupped and giggled, dropping her empty glass once full of strawberry daiquiri that Luke had brought with him. After five hours of drinking orangeade, strawberry daiquiri, lemonade, punch and stories of maximum laughs and epic proportions, she was tired as fuck.
If she heard one more funny one night stand story about Allison McKinney being daft as a brush, she would, literally, pass out of exhaustion. She was reeling at the idea of heading out to a friend's party that was ongoing.
She entered her room, yelling a big, fat 'no' at Luke. Her head was spinning, bringing back sad memories that brought tears to her eyes.
She plopped on her bed and faced the window that she had shut out of fear and desperation, refusing the notification bar that was asking permission to piece together what she'd seen and heard.
Liz knocked softly and entered the room. "Are you going to the party? "
" I just said no. You guys made me drink too much." Liz laughed, lightly smacking Becca on the head. "Get some rest, B. Well soon be back."
As Liz left, Becca lay on the couch, took some Advil and got comfy with a box of ice cream and her favorite novel, the Percy Jackson series.
Few minutes later, she put down the book and closed her eyes, sighing as sleep drew her in. It was so peaceful, a meaningless dream enclosed her.
Somewhere in the dream, she heard a creak. Shaking it off, Her dream continued. Hurried footsteps jolted her from the stupid dream.
Shakily, she got up and bit down the urge to yell 'Liz, is that you!? '
Another creak came from the kitchen's floor boards. Grabbing her solitary spoon as a weapon, she walked slowly, praying it was a rat, even though she detested rats. She took shaky steps towards the kitchen whose darkness spoke volumes.
As she approached the kitchen door, she hurriedly grabbed the handle and locked the door. Expelling a huge breath, she couldn't shake out the dark figure that was loitering in her kitchen. The dark figure she had stunned into mid step.
She ran to her room and locked the door, sobbing quietly. She clutched her phone and dialled 911 before seeing that there was no network.
As she debated using her neighbour's Wi-Fi, she realized she didn't know the password. "Shit!!" She swore angrily. She heard a lock fall and her anger melted into fear. Slow, taunting footsteps crossed the hallway that led to her room. She glanced at her closed window and made a quick prayer before crawling to it.
She knew that no stupid privacy lock would keep whoever was in the house at bay. Working up the window, Her door lock rattled.
Opening the window faster, she grabbed her phone and was pushing herself through it, when she heard the front door open. Happiness gave way to fear. what if the psycho outside her door attacked the twins?
Fear gave way to common sense. What if it wasn't the twins by the front door, but someone aiding the psycho outside?
She could feel the tension buzzing in the air. It wouldn't hurt to go outside. She thought. She continued struggling, cursing her big hips. It was then that she heard a marvelous sound.
" Bec! We're back!" she felt, rather than heard the tension snap and the psycho ran away. She struggled back, closed the window and carefully approached the door whose poor lock now, literally, popped out of the socket.
"Shit!! This place is as dark as hell. Luke, the lights! .. What the fuck was that? Luke?!" Liz's voice rang out.
She opened the door and saw the lights come on. "I swear, I felt something pass me." Liz muttered.
My breath hitched in my throat. Someone had wanted to hurt me, she thought having a launch attack. Her inner voice sneered at her, if you had let me piece something together, you would have known what to do, not running away like a baby! . Liz rushed to Becca's side who was now hyperventilating.
"Are you alright? Is something wrong? Did someone hurts you? Tell me, you asshole." Becca smiled weakly. "Kitchen door.. Help me check if it's open."
At that rotten moment, Luke stumbled in, a puzzled look on his face. "Urm.. Guys? The back door's open and the lock is on the floor. Also, the Wi-Fi was disconnected and Mr Hamilton complained about seeing someone sneaking on the house."
Seeing my stricken expression, he continued," it gets worse. I found a letter tucked underneath the door."
"what does it say? " Liz said, taking Becca's arm and leading her to the sofa. " Not much. It says ' game on. '"
The twins turned their gaze towards Becca who shakily said, " I..think I.. Think I know who's doing this."
Luke said, fear creeping into his voice. " who? "
Upon getting home, I left my mom in the car and walked to my room, my mind awashed in thoughts.
I ran up the stairs, all the way to my bedroom. I loosed my tie, took a bath and decided to check my phone, ignoring the nagging thought of the piled homework I had postponed.
In my message box, sitting there, for the first time was a message in my message box. Some pent up frustration was released. Then dread set in. Who had my number? Calm down, breathe. I silently said.
It was a message from Matthew. I rolled my eyes, then read it. It said:
'Hey, Adrianne! I had my dad's security personnel get your number. How are you? '
It was a little unsettling that he had gone through little stress to get my number. I shrugged and replied:
' OK, creep, cut the chase, why are you so engrossed with being my friend?'
The reply was instantaneous
' I'm not sure if ' creep' defines me caring and I'm not 'engrossed' with you. I just want to be your friend.'
Knowing I wouldn't win this fight, I said: 'fine. You're still a creep. See you tomorrow then.'
A guy, clad in black paced back and forth, next to his very bored friend." I don't understand! There wasn't supposed to be a mistake! I thought you asked your 'friend' to keep a party? Are you listening to me!!?" he said. His friend, who was staring at his perfectly buffed nails, rolled his eyes and said, " No, I'm not. Also, I did ask him to. It's not my fault you couldn't pick a lock! "The first guy threw his hands up in anger. " you're not concerned that we screwed up? "" You screwed up, not me. Also, I don't care because I'm not taking the fall for this. It's your fuck up. " his friend said, picking a hand mirror and admiring his perfect black curls." So.. You don't care? " the first guy said, quite hurt." I think I just said that in my previous sentence." came the reply. Before the first guy could reply, the door opened, angrily creaking and two guys with rifles walked in. They gave frightening glares

Luke said, his eyes burning with anger. "I don't know, OK? I don't know! What the hell do you want me to say? We've been arguing since and it's not getting anywhere, Luke. " I said, tired of his detective attitude. He'd asked more questions than I could answer. I still hadn't told them the truth, the full truth. I'd opted for the most simple way out, lying, like the idiot I am. Liz hadn't spoken a word and it was starting to get scary. I could see her brain gears turning as she thought of an alternative. "We should tell the police. That idiot could show up again to finish the job." Luke said, this time irking me to no end. "Tell them what? Tha
