90. Criminal Prosecution

"If you lucky, it can be reduced to one year. But the norm is two years to three years," replied Laurant, his lawyer who is in his late forties. He is also a senior lawyer in the legal and judicial community.

"Hmm... try to achieve that!" concluded Kairav, nodding optimistically. He did not want more than a year in jail. 'What a nightmare,' he thought dispelling the image.

"We're quite worried about the prosecution's claims about your sentence," added Mr. Arguss, a man who was the same age as Laurant the lawyer.

"What do you usually do? If it's fine, any amount of money is fine," said Kairav.

"The prosecution will ask for ten or fifteen years," replied Mr. Arguss.

Kairav loosened his tie and tilted his head at the word fifteen years. He thought what Mr. Adam had said to him was not an exaggeration. In fact, it was.

"Can the sentence for persecution be that long, huh? As far as I know, the maximum is three years." Kairav tried to convey his protest in a calm tone.
