Author’s POVThe night was dark and still, with only the soft glow of the moon illuminating the forest. The boundary guards of the Pack stood at attention, their eyes scanning the tree line for any sign of danger. They had heard stories of other pack trying to invade and claim their territory, but they were determined to protect their home.As they stood guard, the sound of yells filled the air. At first, it was distant, but it quickly grew louder and closer. The guards exchanged worried glances, their hands gripping their weapons tightly. They knew that whatever was coming was not friendly. The yelling grew louder and louder until it was right upon them. Suddenly, a pack of wolves emerged from the trees, their eyes glowing with fierce determination. They had weapon stacked across their body and it was a terrifying sight to behold. Things had been going smoothly in the morning, but that all changed when the guard who had been spared from the invading wolf ran into the mansion, panting and covered in blood. The guards who were stationed at the door wouldn't let her in easily, having seen her state. They tried to prevent one of their own, which caused a mild scuffle. She still managed to bully her way into the mansion in a bid to see the queen. She fell at the feet of Pack's Queen, who was in the middle of listening to a complaint from one of her the member from her pack. The queen's expression was one of shock and horror as the guard began to speak, her voice filled with fear and urgency."We were attacked at the boundary my queen." She said, her breaths coming in fast gasps. "They attacked us," the guard repeated, her voice trembling. "They killed everyone but their leader sp
Daphine POV"Great to have you once again in Oakwood" The King indicated as we walked with him towards the chamber."Please do have your seats" He gestured once we arrived at the well crafted chamber. "We are here because we have no where to go. I understand that it is important that everyone pays homage to you, and we apologize for not doing that quite on time." Rex explained in a rather calm voice as the room seemed to echo everything he said."It is never a miracle that both of you are here. I need you to understand that for over the past two days now, we have been waiting for you all to come and now that you are here, we would be glad if you kindly introduce yourselves" His statement caught me off guard. It became less confusing that Bella and her brother had ushered us into their place. "My name is Rex and this is Lil.. Ivory." I rolled my eyes at Rex as he attempted to place another identity to my name. The door suddenly burst opens and a huge figure stepped inside the chamber
CHAPTER Daphine POVHis eyes were closed and he was definitely trying to observe silence thus, the question why he would choose to call me at such hour, when he knew that it was times like this he meditate.Once again, the door opened and standing behind me, was the hybrid prince, who seemingly looked like he just came out of a fight."I called you both here for the same reason. I need you to understand that the lines for battle has been drawn and while on a trance few minutes ago, it was revealed to me that the an invasion would be happening soon. Several men would be on their way here with several army; and also army of the dead." His explIvorytion gave me goosebumps.I turned and stared at the prince and surprisingly, he was also staring in return."So what you trying to say is that we have to up our training?" Levi opened his eyes and stood up from his position."The best form of invisibility lies in defence however, possibility is always in the attacks. Both of you, would be t
Daphine POVMorning came quite fast than I had imagined. The night may have been short due to the conversation with King Melchizedek. All thoughts had been on what the training would look like. Being a witch, who had wished to be a soldier, I was glad to know I will be getting the training I desire. However considering it's a first time, I knew more than anything else that alot of things could occur, thid propelled my anxiety to increase.Beside me, Rex was still asleep and I could only but stare at him with pity. Rolling him back to face me, I smiled seeing how innocent he looked. Rex is a fine man and there was no dispute about it."I will be grateful if you stop staring at me like I am some monument." His statement while his eyes were still closed was creepy and it had me frightened for a moment."Did you have to do that?" I asked holding my chest, while he had a smile on his face."I was wide awake before you got up. Seems to me you were exhausted." He stated, getting up from his
Daphine POVSoaking up the tension in the atmosphere, I had reduced the level of my anxiety to zero and concentrated on my opponent. Remembering the instructions from the triplets, while they had attempted to train me, I knew they would be to great use. This time I accelerated with the attack and begin to attempt to strike a part of him with the sword, but he was experienced in the defense area and this meant serious problem to me. After a second long battle of having to use my sword effortlessly, I felt moved back by his strong hands and he initiate an attack. His strikes were firece and the impact left my hands shaking visibly. I wasn't a master at sword using and in the end, he dispossessed my sword off my hands, placing the point to my neck region."I thought you had the advantage when you began the attack." Levi's voice came through to my hearing, after the grumpy guy had dropped his sword. "When you give your enemy the slightest opportunity, they will pounce and feed on you lik
ChapterRex POVI have never seen Ivory looked so pissed before and despite the implication that would come with such behavior, I liked her this fireced. Walking behind her till we got to our room, I sat by the chair and watched Ivory lay back to the bed. The evening was slowly approaching, a testament to how long we had stayed at the training ground."The fact that he thinks fighting with sword is the best way to beat an opponent, is irritating." Ivory stated out of the blue. She was indeed still grumbling over her encounter with the prince."You know he has a point right?" I wished I hadn't said that statement as Ivory gots up to stare at me in the most twisted way possible. "You are going to support him? Really Rex? Why am I surprised, this is coming from someone who used riffles anyways." Her savagery at this point was hilarious and all efforts to contain my laughs yield no results, as I burst out into a hysterics of laughs."Keep laughing all you want, we both know I am saying t
Daphine POVAs I step out of the room, I couldn't help but feel guilty. This was the man that had laid out his past on my table and what do I make out of it? Kissing him. What's more hurtful was the realization that it was one of the most intense moment of my life. Never had anyone made me feel this good, but being around Rex had created such a good energy. As I walked through the hallway, all I could hear was groans and roars, coupled with clashing sound of swords. I head to the training ground and what appeared before me, was Levi training with a dummy. He looked very determined and for every bead of sweats that dropped from his body, he strikes even harder at the dummy, till he eventually broke it."You should keep your impressed look for when I am done on the battlefield." He said without having to look back. "I didn't say I was impressed and I never had a smile on my face as well; you were just imagining things." He chuckled, while he use his sword to push away the broken dummy.
