last update Last Updated: 2021-07-14 00:20:47

Sabrina came out from Mrs Williams office and gazed at Josh again. "How can i even focus with him here. "She sighed and went back to her seat.

After Josh was done arranging everything on the shelf, he decided to take a break. He saw Sabrina lost in her thoughts and decided to talk to her since he was bored.

"Hey." He waved across her face and smiled, seeing she looked so lost.

Sabrina came out of her thoughts. On seeing Josh, her heart nearly jumped out of her chest as she saw him smile. "H-hey." She smiled back.

"You look lost."

"Oh, im just thinking of college days." She immediately regretted what she said.

Josh nodded. "Oh okay. Well you look familiar a lot, so i'm not suprised that we were in the same college."

'Does he remember what hapened that night?' She began to tremble but Josh did nottice. "Yes we were in the same class."

"Oh yeah, you were the one that gave that awesome presentation that only you and i passed fully right?" Josh remembered that day when a Sabrina Harrison was the fellow student that the lecturer announced, that she passed the project with full marks together with Josh. He happened to have seen her, but he didn't really care.

"Yes." Sabrina knew her cheeks were already red. She was feeling embarassed.

Josh stared at her for a while silently before talking. "So how did you start working here?"

'He wants to know about me?!' Just the su

dden thought of it made her happy. "Well." She began. "My dad was the owner of a matress company, so, we were quite rich. Business was going well until when daddy had issues regarding the company and someone the company's secrets of making quality matresses to one of our rivals, and the cost was less expensive than ours. so, people stopped buying from our company." She looked at him and her lips slightly curved up in sadness. "Dad fell into depression after taking a lot of loans. because he couldn't pay back, they siezed his properties. He died out of depression unfortunately." She sighed.

Josh felt sorry for what happened to her. He thought only him had serious issues. "What about your mum." He had a concerned look on his face.

"Mum died when she gave birth to me." Sabrina felt really sad remembering everything that had happened. "Now, i will have to survive alone."

Josh felt bad feeling he brought back her sad memories. "I'm so sorry to hear that."

"Ah no no." She waved her hand. "It's all in the past." Sabrina smiled and tried to look away. Her heart was in chaos because Josh was looking directly into her eyes. His blue eyes were so beautiful. She asked him. "You are done with everything right?"

Josh nodded at her question. "Yeah, just wanted to take a break."

Sabrina hesitsted for a moment before finally deciding to ask him. "What about you?"

Josh didn't know how to answer her question. He pondered before he finally said. "I helped myself through with ths help of a friend, then i decided to take a job here, ta-da." He spread out his arms, making Sabrina chuckle.

"We are both trying to survive. Fighting!" She raised her fist up showing determination which made Josh laugh. They talked for a while until they both had to resume what they were doing, because a customer just entered the shop.

The customer approached Sabrina with a smile. "Hey, please where can i find the kitchen utensils section?"

'She looks nice.' Sabrina thought. "Yes ma'am, you go straight and turn to your left. She pointed s the direction to the lady.

"Okay, thanks." The lady nodded and left to the section.

As Josh was arranging the things on the second shelf, the lady looked stunned at the earthly God in front of her. "Wow." She said aloud, catching Josh's attention .

"Is there anything you need ma'am?" He looked at her, confused as to why she exclaimed like that.

"I came to look for utensils, but i never thought i will find something better." She licked her lips and looked at him from head to toe.

Josh was already irritated by the woman because he knew what she was thinking about. "Ma'am, we have good utensils. Buy anyone, it will come in handy and it lasts longer than any other product. He tried to act dumb to what she was doing.

"I'm not talking about that silly." she came closer to him. "i like you handsome."

Josh clenched his fists in anger before he calmed himself down."I don't like women."

The woman was dumbfounded. She felt sad . "Wow i guess i lost you. You are too handsome to be gay you know."

Josh was suprised with what she thought of him. 'I don't like both.' But he decided she should think that way.  "If you will excuse me." He walked towards the aisles.

Josh and Sabrina were done for the day, so Mrs Williams allowed them to go. As Sabrina was almost far from the store, Josh ran up to her. "Hey! Sabrina wait." He reached her panting. "Where do you live?"

Sabrina was speechless. 'He wants to walk with me?' She managed to talk after a short while. "I live like four streets away from here. The streets are quite far from each other , don't want to walk it so i will just take the bus to the next bus stop."

Josh nodded. "Same here."

"Really?" She could remember she had never seen him around the area.

"Yeah. Just moved in there like last week." He said casually.

"Ooh okay."

He looked at her and smiled at her cuteness. "I guess we will be walking home together then.

She stopoped walking and looked at his back. He kept on walking without knowing she had stopped. Josh noticed she had already stopped. He turned back and saw her with her mouth slightly opened. "What is wrong? You don't have to..."

"No!" She yelled which startled Josh. "I'm just suprised."

Josh chuckled. "Suprised about what?"

"You know back in college, you weren't friendly to girls. People even thought you were gay..." She immediately shut her mouth, regretting saying it out. But she didn't expect him to laugh.

"You are so funny. i just don't like hanging around girls because..i don't trust them.

She looked at him confused. "Why?"

"Well cos...." He looked at her questioning face and paused. "I will tell you when the right time comes okay?"

"Okay. So what about me?" She looked up at him like a child expecting candy.

Josh chuckled. "You are different. I know you are not bad. Do you know just today, a customer was hitting on me."

Sabrina gasped. "Wait..what?" He started telling her what happened while they were going home.

Josh sat back a little more comfortably, one arm draped behind the couch, the other resting on his knee.He looked at her out of the corner of his eye.He didn’t know why, but the thought had been in his head since she knocked on his door.Could he trust her with the truth?Who he actually was. Why he hid. Everything that could blow up the second it slipped out.He didn’t even trust people easily. But with her... something felt different. It wasn’t just comfort. It was like she saw him , not the version he gave people, but the actual him.He shook the thought off for now.Instead, he said, “I’ve been thinking about getting a job.”Sabrina raised a brow. “Really? What kind?”“Just something part-time. Im trying to keep things simple for now." She stared at him for a second. “Why not go for something better? You’re smart, Josh. Like... scary smart. You could do anything.”Josh smiled a little. “True. But simple draws less attention."She wanted to ask more, but before she could, thund

  • Damn You! Delilah   You're Not Bothering Anyone

Downstairs, Daniel was sprawled on the couch, legs kicked up, a blanket half over his lap like he lived there full-time , which, to be fair, he did.Josh sat across from him, quiet, fingers tapping lightly on the armrest.Daniel let out a loud, dramatic sigh.“I need my girlfriend.”Josh glanced at him.Daniel stared at the ceiling. “No seriously. This long-distance thing between me and Alicia being upstairs is killing me.”Josh rolled his eyes. “You saw her an hour ago.”“Exactly. That’s sixty full minutes of emotional starvation.”Josh smirked a little and shook his head. But Daniel narrowed his eyes, noticing.“You’ve been quiet.”Josh didn’t answer right away.Daniel leaned forward. “What’s going on in that scary brain of yours? Is it about Mabel?”Josh nodded slowly. “Yeah.”Daniel sat up straighter. “You found something?”“Not yet. I made a few calls. I’m having someone dig into her charity records, her assistants, recent events… all of it.”Daniel nodded. “Good.”Josh looked ah

  • Damn You! Delilah   Smiles And Tight Chests

Sabrina sat at her desk, clicking through a report that honestly didn’t need as much focus as she was pretending to give it.The office was calm for once. No one arguing. No one knocking things over. Just keyboards tapping and soft chatter.Across from her, Alicia leaned back in her chair, stretching.“You look weirdly rested today,” Alicia said.Sabrina glanced up. “Do I?”“Yeah. Like, your eyes aren’t screaming.”“I slept at Josh and Daniel’s place.”Alicia raised a brow immediately. “Oh?”“Not like that,” Sabrina said quickly. “I just didn’t want to be alone.”“Mm-hmm. And that has nothing to do with Josh being tall and fine?”Sabrina gave her a look. “Seriously.”Alicia laughed. “Okay, okay. But for real, why’d you stay there? You never sleep over unless something’s wrong.”Sabrina hesitated, then shrugged. “The power went out. And I was too tired to deal with it.”Alicia didn’t look fully convinced, but she nodded. “Still a better excuse than ‘the vibes were off.’ I’ll allow it.”

  • Damn You! Delilah   Don't Touch What's Mine

Josh and Jessica walked slowly, side by side, down the quiet path leading to the bridge. The night breeze was gentle. The streetlights glowed a warm yellow. It was peaceful. Jessica’s hair kept blowing into his face every few steps. She laughed and tried to hold it back. “Sorry. My hair’s having a moment.” Josh looked at her, then reached up without thinking and gently tucked a loose strand behind her ear. Jessica blinked, caught off guard. Then she smiled, a little shy. “Thanks.” He nodded, suddenly unsure why that felt… weird. They stopped at the middle of the bridge. The view was calm and beautiful. Lights from the city reflected on the water below like little pieces of glass. Jessica leaned on the railing. “This is nice,” she said. Josh looked out with her. “Yeah. It is.” “I needed this,” she added. “It’s been a while since I’ve just... enjoyed someone’s company.” Josh gave a small smile. “Me too.” She turned to face him. “You’re really not that bad, you

  • Damn You! Delilah   Dinner Night

Just as Sabrina started to edge away, Mabel’s voice rose again. “Whatever she picks out, I’ll pay for it.” Sabrina stopped. She looked up slowly. “I’m fine, ma'am” she said quickly. “I can—” “Nonsense,” Mabel cut in, still smiling. “Let me.” Sabrina glanced at the vendor, who looked thrilled. “Pick what you want, dear. Don’t be shy.” “I really appreciate it, but I can manage,” Sabrina said, her voice tight but polite. Mabel turned to her fully now. Her eyes met Sabrina’s with a calm, unreadable stare. Still smiling. Still soft. But there was something in her expression. A flicker. A stillness. Like she was waiting to see what Sabrina would do next. The crowd didn’t notice it. The vendor didn’t feel it. But Sabrina did. The message was clear. Take the kindness… or make it awkward. Sabrina nodded slowly and reached for a few tomatoes, her fingers trembling slightly. “Thank you,” she said. Mabel stepped closer, placed a hand lightly on Sabrina’s should

  • Damn You! Delilah   Date Prep

Jessica stood in front of her open closet like she was trying to solve a world crisis. “Why do I have so many clothes but nothing to wear?” she mumbled, pulling out one dress, then another, tossing them all over her bed. She held up a red dress. Too much. A floral one. Too casual. A black one. Too funeral. She groaned and flopped down on her bed, arms spread out like she’d just run a marathon. “I swear, this is why women lose their minds,” she muttered to herself. “Just one date. Just one perfect outfit.” Then she shot up again, suddenly remembering a short, off-shoulder cream dress she hadn’t worn in a while. “Found you,” she grinned, holding it up to her chest in the mirror. She twirled once and smiled at her reflection. Not too dramatic. Not too plain. Cute, but confident. “Alright, Josh,” she said to herself. “You’re not ready for this.” --- Meanwhile… Josh stared at his closet like it had personally betrayed him. “What do guys even wear on dates thes
