Chapter Hundred and forty nine

The knock on the door distracted us. It was her doctor, he greeted me with a smile as he saw me. I took him downstairs for tea to buy time for my wife to get dressed. “ Mr Damien, thank you”, he smiled as he collected the cup from the maid. I also asked the maid to fix a breakfast tray for Irene. After his tea, I waited for the tray before walking upstairs to meet my wife.

Watching Irene sleep was like staring at the rainbow after a stormy cloud. She looked so beautiful, calm,innocent and too soft for all these dramas.
