Chapter Hundred and eight

As Irene slept, I snuck out of bed to clear my mind. I was confused and uncertain about what I actually felt. The word “I love you, Irene" played back to my head and I felt frightened and uncomfortable by it. Was it true? Was it the heat of the moment? Or was it just words to me?. I was careful not to misunderstand my feelings and hurt Irene in the process. She suddenly become my priority and the first thought that entered my mind.

I had made it clear to her several times that the only string attached is our contract. As I thought about this, it felt like a Disney scene where a devil and an angel appear, standing on my shoulders.

Angel: The contract didn't include intimacy , Damien. It happened because you have developed feelings for her.

Devil: That's not true Damien. You two are adults and it was just w fling. Don't dewel on it.

Angel: A fling? For how many times Damien? The first time wasn't a fling, it was a connection.

Devil: A connection? (Hiss) it could have been anybody
