Dahlia POV.When we went back to Malachi’s house with Harrison. All he talked about was his little sister. I didn’t have the heart to tell him it didn’t work like that. But I know he will be a great big brother. When he declared to everyone in the dining hall. Everyone cheered and clapped. I blushed and hide my face against Harrison’s back. Celeste chuckled at this, not one for the attention. I used to just be happy blending into the shadows. Pathetic, really an Alpha who doesn’t like the attention. Yeah, I’m all kinds of awkward. So here we are sitting in the house and Harrison is choosing now to sort his toys for what he can give to the baby. Bearing in mind, he is adamant it is a little girl. After his bath and bedtime routine, he finally settled down.So here we are, Malachi and I sitting on the sofa, cuddling together.“What do you want to do?” I ask him and he looks at me like I’ve grown two extra heads.“With what?” he asks and I sit up and turn to face him, bringing my legs up
Dahlia POV. Today is the day I tell my parents about my decision about the shared fate of the higher ups of Solar Eclipse. Plus, I take my pledge. “So what have you decided to do?” my uncle Fenrir asks me, sitting opposite me in my father’s office. Uncle Fen is part of the Supernatural Council, same as Beta Kendra is. “They die. I need to go to Solar Eclipse. Something in my gut is telling me all is not what we initially believe. You know me. I have to follow that instinct.” I tell him, and he nods his head thoughtfully. “I understand. How do you want to do this?” he asks me and I lean back in the office chair and sigh. “They are here, right?” he nods his head. “In that case, they come with us to Solar Eclipse. Where they will die.” I say like it isn’t a big deal to kill three people. They deserve it. “About that. They need to be dealt with at headquarters. That way, no-one can dispute that it wasn’t dealt with correctly. They also have the right to a trial and plead their case.”
Dahlia POV.Today is the day we head to the Solar Eclipse Pack. And I am dreading seeing the vampires. It is no secret that there was always a long-standing hatred between both species. But there are always two sides to any story, so here is ours. The vampires were destroying everything in their path. Using the humans as cattle. Disrupting the balance of life and death. They were killing more humans than necessary. Until vampires turned their attentions to the packs. The wolves at the time lived in harmony until the vampires became greedy, wanting more. Voltas was a young king and was making a name for himself and his people. The vampires clashed with the werewolves. Using their speed and strength and, of course, their bloodlust to again the advantage. The war raged on for years. Until the vampires turned their attention to the oldest pack in our world. My mother’s former pack, the Snow Moon Pack. The daughter of the alpha was seen as a prize, a rare beauty, the image of Selene. The f
Dahlia POV.“Can you hear that?” Celeste asks me, and I move closer to the opened bookcase and listen when I hear a whimper.“Someone is down there and they are injured.” I say out loud and move forward when Malachi grabs my upper arm and shakes his head no.“I will go. You wait up here.” He says, and I shake my head.“No, I’m going with you.” I protest. Whatever is down there, we can help.“Ok love birds, we all go,” Voltas says and we all walk cautiously in to the dark, damp tunnel. The smell of mould, mildew, and blood is stronger the further we go.“I don’t like this,” Verity says from behind us and I smirk. So much for being a scary vampire. I thought they weren’t scared of anything. Guess everyone has their own fears. The whimpering becomes louder the closer we move. A door is up ahead.“Be ready, whatever is behind that door. I’ve got a gut feeling it is not going to be pleasant.” I tell them all and I gulp, fighting the urge to vomit. Pushing the door open. The stench of body
Dahlia POV. After leaving that horrible place and we returned home, all I have wanted to do was hold Harrison and try to forget what I saw. Holding him to my chest, I feel calm. I know he is safe. My mood is sombre after that gruesome discovery. Did Mindy plan on doing this to Harrison when she kidnapped him? Would he have suffered a similar fate? Just with those thoughts alone, I tighten my hold on my sleeping boy. If Rodrick wasn’t dead already, I would gladly torture him after what we uncovered. “Hey, come on. You need to eat.” Mal’s voice pulls out of the thoughts as he leans against Harrison’s bedroom door. His hair is tousled and damp from his shower. He moves silently across the room and moves Harrison from my chest so I can get out of his little bed. Kissing him on his head, I tuck him in and check his window to make sure it is locked, and he is safe. With one last look at the sleeping pup, I leave the room, exhausted from crying and anger. Mal leads me to the bedroom and I
Malachi POV.I wake up looking at my beautiful mate sleeping next to me. Her soft snores and steady breathing bring me peace. I am lucky to have her. I was such an idiot to not claim her back then, but I’m glad we have claimed each other now. She shifts to her back, mumbling something in her sleep. I smile at this.I move up to rest on my elbow as I watch her. Some would find this creepy and it probably is, but I love her with my all. She is amazing.“Our pup will be a blessing to the packs.” Hyde says in my mind as he stretches and yawns before he shakes his head and laying back down.“I know. Any pup we have with her will be a blessing.” I tell him when I get the urge to kiss her belly, so I do. I shift the quilt and see her top has risen up and I can see her soft skin and inside there is our pup.I move slowly and kiss her belly gently not to wake her. Waking Dahlia is never a good thing to do. She is not a morning person. Well, that changed when she went to the camp. Early morning
Dahlia POV.The sound of a rhythmic beeping brings me out of the darkness. Where the fuck am I? I open my eyes and instantly close them again because of the blinding white lights.I let out a groan as I open my eyes again, feeling a warm hand holding mine and I know it’s Malachi. I finally open my eyes and blink to clear my vision. Looking around the room, I know I’m in the pack hospital. The room is sterile, white, and I hate it. I squeeze Mal’s hand, and he instantly opens his eyes, snapping his head in my direction. He was asleep sitting in a chair close to the bed with his head by my leg.“Dahlia, baby. I’m so sorry.” He chokes out. He has tears streaming down his face. He moves and kisses me on my forehead. But I feel like I’m missing something. Why am I here?“What happened?” I say, my voice hoarse and scratchy. He moves and grabs a bottle of water from the side of the bed and brings it to my lips with a straw. I thank him and take a slow sip, allowing the water to ease the scra
Dahlia POV.I was discharged, and I was currently resting at home in the packhouse. Harrison refused to go to daycare, so he is taking care of me. Harrison was so upset when we had to tell him that the pup in my belly had to go to heaven. He cried himself to sleep in my arms and I cried alongside him.We have moved to the packhouse now, permanently. Not wanting to be in the house anymore. I went back into the bedroom, needing to revisit the scene for any clues, but the smell of bleach and other chemicals hit me. Even though I couldn’t see or smell the blood, I could still see it in my head. The bedroom was empty; the bed removed. All evidence of the gruesome scene erased. But still I can see it.The blood spatter on the walls and ceiling, the blood gushing from my belly and staining the white sheets bright red. The smell of copper in the air. I had a panic attack clutching my belly, so we moved and the house was being sold.“Mommy, do you need anything?” Harrison asks me from the side
Dahlia POV.It has been six years since I was crowned Alpha of Alpha’s. Not much has changed, though. I have dealt with a few disputes within other packs which were resolved quickly. Venom Fang and Nightshade are prospering under the rule of Malachi and I.Mom and dad are still around and help out when needed, especially when it comes to date night. They love having the pups. Well, I say pups Harrison is now eleven and Annelise is five. They still have a great relationship but boy do they fight something rotten. I gave Harrison the gift of immortality, much to Mal’s happiness. It was always a worry for us.Celeste was the one who said it was possible, so we both gave him a great gift and so now we never have to fear him dying when he is older. The thought of losing him didn’t sit right with us, especially when his sister and father are now immortals.Harrison is still very protective of her, though, and it is cute. It is safe to say that both are gamers, and it drives us mad at times.
Dahlia POV.Walking back into the arena, the area is filled with chatter, and I swear I heard a few alphas placing bets. Cheeky fuckers!I stand in the middle of the arena, waiting for my opponent. When he enters the arena, I watch him as he smirks at me, all cocky. He is wearing shorts and is bare-chested. I look at Mal in the stands and he is looking at me. He mouths I love you and I mouth it back.I turn and look for Silas’s luna but I don’t see her. Where is she?“You won’t find her. I sent her home.” He says as he comes up to me. I look back at him and he smiles sadly at me. Is he having second thoughts about this?“For what it’s worth, Dahlia, I know you aren’t ready for this responsibility.” He says, and I scoff at him and move away from him.“You seem to forget Silas. I have the advantage over you. I am immortal, so this is pointless. I will give you an out this time. So, for the last time, are you sure you want to die here today?” I say over my shoulder and he shakes his head
Malachi POV.Some of the Alpha’s present gasp at what they are seeing when Dahlia shifts. I am always in awe of Celeste. She is beautiful. Her white fur shines and the blue hue sparkles the same as her eyes. The crescent moon on her forehead shines. My heart is in my throat, and Hyde is wanting to intervene by protecting her. But we can’t get involved. She charges with precision, each swipe of her giant paws hitting the mark. Each bite is more deadly than any other. All three try to attack her at once, and we all watch her dodge and retaliate. It’s like a ballet, her movements fluid and strong. She grabs the red wolf, the delta, and snaps his neck. Shaking her head fiercely, coating her pristine white fur red. Dropping him as she is tackled. They both bite and scratch her, but she just stands there and Destinee chuckles.“The size of her, she won’t feel it. Look at her face. She looks bored.” She says and I smile when Celeste rips the brown wolf the gamma off of her and rips his throa
Dahlia POV.Walking into the arena of the Supernatural Council Headquarters. I hold my head high. I am the last to arrive. The place is filled to the rafters with alphas from all over the world. The chatter dies down as I step into the middle of the arena a few feet away from the main podium, where there are five thrones facing me, at the moment they are vacant.I look at the stands and see my family sitting there. Mal looks at me with concern, but I just nod my head at him. There is no point in both of us being nervous. The doors in front of me open and everyone stands up as the members of the Supernatural Council enter the arena. Each one looks at me, and I bow in acknowledgement. Showing them the respect they deserve. They walk up to the side and each stops at their seats. They all sit and motion for the rest in the arena to take theirs, only I am left standing.“We, the Supernatural Council, are here today to preside over two issues. One being the trial and sentencing of the forme
Dahlia POV.It has been a month since little Annelise made her appearance into the world, and everything has been hectic since. But we are in a routine now. Life has been good. Well, that was until this morning when the Supernatural council arrived to speak to me.“We need to prepare you for the title ceremony, Dahlia. We will also be sorting the trial at the same time.” Oh, I nearly forgot about the trial. With everything that has happened, it slipped my mind.“Very well, we will do both at the same time. But the trial should be done first.” I say and they nod in agreement.“When should we do this?” Mal asks from the side and I know he is itching for this to be over with, especially since we found out that it was Rodrick who helped Krystal and Sampson to destroy the packs.“In three day’s time. You will need to come to the Supernatural Council Headquarters. The trial will happen in the arena. All the alphas in the world have been called to attend. Any official challenges will be made
Malachi POV. The bubble burst when her water broke. But as stubborn as Dahlia is, she refused to leave the wedding. Saying she had hours yet. She wasn’t having contractions, so until she does then we will head inside. Everyone present has congratulated us, but I am too focused on my wife, who could go into active labour at any moment. Hyde is going crazy, wanting to take her away, but Celeste has growled in warning a few times. The doctor is here and is monitoring Dahlia. She has told us everything is ready and in place. She is also ready when we are. Dahlia is walking around and I know she is close. I take her hand in mine and she smiles at me. “Anything?” I ask her, and she shakes her head, but she is still smiling. We are mingling and her Alpha team and their Lunas are looking at her in concern the same way as I am. “Ok, baby, I think it’s time we head in.” I say to her and I wait for her to growl, but she nods her head. We have stayed for two hours. “I’m taking her inside.” I
Dahlia POV.The nerves have begun to go haywire. Today is the wedding. I have lost count of how many times I have been sick. Sitting looking like a panda from lack of sleep as my hair is being curled and natural make-up was applied hiding the bags under my eyes, I fidget with my fingers on my lap. Why am I so damn nervous?“Stop, babe, everything will be fine.” Cel sounded tired. Well, I suppose she will be. We only have two weeks before we are due to welcome our pup. Our little princess. I smile at that.“What’s got you so happy?” my mom asks as she watches me in the mirror as Kendra and gran finish making me look more healthy.“That my daughter will be here soon and I finally get to have my happy ever after.” I say and she smiles at me as she nods her head. Her eyes change colour and Aura is now watching.“I can’t believe it. My pup is not only getting married but will be a mommy soon. I can’t wait to see her.” She says, and I chuckle at her. Emotions are high right now.“There you’
Dahlia POV.It has been four days since the incident, and the room has been completely changed. The bed replaced. What should have been a happy occasion was overshadowed by deceit and death. But no matter, we have a couple of things to look forward to. Like the wedding and the birth of our daughter. So here I am sitting in the living room having what gran calls afternoon tea. While we talk about the wedding. I was shocked when mom brought a huge binder filled with wedding ideas.Apparently she has waited for this moment since I was born and so she started working on this. My heart fell out of my ass when she showed me what she had put together. I know she was joking, or maybe only half joking, but still it was sweet and not all her ideas are bad ones.“Here, drink this and you need to eat more.” My gran says as she passes me a glass of peach iced tea and a little plate with finger foods on it. I chuckle as I lean back into the cushions and take small bites and small sips of my drink.
Dahlia POV.Last night was amazing. We made love under the meteor shower and let our wolves do their own thing. They played, they fought and then they too went at it like rabbits. I was grossed out, but I just blocked her out.Waking up this morning under a canopy of leaves, the sunlight flits through the gaps and, for once, I don’t feel anxious about not being in my nest. So I think that is progress. The only thing that is worrying me is getting back up off the forest floor.Malachi chuckles beside me, and I lift my head from his chest and look down at him.“I will help you up,” he says and I nod my head, my cheeks heating slightly that he was inside my head.“I suppose we better make our way back to the packhouse.” He says as he stretches and yawns. I move and sit up. The light catches the ring on my finger. I study it and I smile softly at it.Mal told me last night that the ring was his mothers and that she would have wanted me to have it. I was honoured to have a piece of her wit
