Seven years after Zoey left for England,The wind blew, causing a figure's hair to rump around her face. Slowly, she blew a strand, the thin slice of hair falling behind her hair, before she tugged the wheels of her traveling bag, another sober sigh escaping her lips.New York, the fresh smell of New York, after spending years in another country, she was finally back. Zoey Hart was back, this time, fiercer, and more stronger. As she walked through the airport, her gray eyes scanning the environs, she pushed her hair forward, the wheels tugging behind her diligently. The phone from her pockets chimed loudly, and with a sigh, she picked it up, before she slowly placed it towards her ears."Zoey! Are you really back in New York?" A friendly voice ranged through her ears, and Zoey twitched her lips, before clutching the handle."Yes." Her reply was brief."Where are you now?" The voice said again, and Zoey grasped her sweater tightly around her chest,"I have to go now, Stella. When I am
Zoey paled a bit, and the old butler gazed at her, wrinkling his brows, attempting to say something, but no words came out from his mouth. She had a kid? Zoey Hart already gave birth? The news was shocking, and he couldn't pinpoint how Ronald, her father would feel in such situation.Zoey pulled the little girl closer, "Shall we get in?"Zara cackled a laughter before her eyes narrowed over to the bodyguard who stood a corner, firm in his steps, instantly, she was drawn to his firm face, his ebony shining blonde hair, and his dark eyes. She pulled her hands closer, but inhaled quietly, before she followed her mother into the car.Soon filled, the door was shut closed, and the bodyguard soon began to drive slowly out of the airport."Mother?" Zara jerked her mother's arms gently, before her eyes moved over to the window, plastering her eyes in between the windows. "Where are we going?""To meet family." Zoey sighed, leaning on the chair, before her mind dazzled around. She was going to
Zara tightened her hands on the man's legs, and squeezed it gently, while squeaking. "Grandfather!" Her voice was melodious, making his tensed body relax a bit. He watched her, the way her hair yanked across her face, the way her tiny eyes glinted under the light. He saw something. He saw little Zoey in her. Ronald chortled to himself, watching the little ball of energy roll around his body, he faced his daughter, a raised frown emitting his lips. Zoey sighed a bit, she had been scared of this day, eagerly anticipating for it, she had gone through her lines, practiced what she would say, drum her fingers lightly against her pale skin, but why did it felt like she wasn't ready? Why was damp sweat trickling down her pale brow, and why did her eyes shined quite dimly? That was it. She wasn't ready, she wasn't the least bit ready to explain everything that happened to her own father. Zoey. You are not a coward. She breathed in, then out, then in again. Maybe, slow breathing would hel
Zoey's heart raced a thousand thought, and she tried to think it again, the father of her daughter showing up from nowhere to claim her daughter. All her life, she dreaded the feeling, the feeling of the father of her child coming in and taking her daughter away. She had dreamt, dreamt it would come true, she had been terrified, and even prayed to God that Zara's father wouldn't even exist, it was wrong to say something like that, but she didn't want to lose her daughter. The thought sent her brain into a million of worry,She trembled, until she noticed her father was looking at her, she finally heaved a sigh, fiddling with the hemline of her dress, before she gazed up to look at him. "Father. I don't know. The thought sounds dreading enough, I am scared." She didn't realized she had tears struck to the corner of her lids, and his firm soft hands grabbed hers. "I don't want the father to come. I just want him to get..." Get what? She didn't even know the answer, the dread, the shiver
It wasn't a joke, hell no, but the bodyguard living in her house had to stop, hell, it was pire torture, it was suffocating, and she even wondered when she was going to be free. He would walk around the kitchen, only a trousers strapped around his waist, his chest nearly exposed, and his hands would grasp the coffee cup, and he would drink out of it, she would be afar off watching his muscles tickle under his body, dear gosh, it was suffocating enough for her, a half naked man in her own house. Damn, and the worst part of it, she was ogling, when was her innocence this tainted? And, the worst part of it all, her daughter would hover around a half naked man, while chewing chips, and saying. "Uncle Rafa. What's that?" She pointed at his abs, and the surprising part of it, he answered her. He parted his lips gently, and spoke, "It's called abs, it only appears when you work out." He grabbed her tiny hands. "Do you want to touch?" Something tickled in the little girl's eyes, and her t
For the first time in his life, Dexter had considered the day ill-lucky, that was just his way of addressing to totally bad-bad-bad days.Being in the office had only sparked up his anger, as his pen moved slowly towards the pale sheet of paper, again, with another quiet rumbling, the paper came dashing towards the bin, a slight crack of bundled up paper dished in the bin.The only distraction in his mind was the ticking of the clock on the wall, when he was younger. He had studied the clock very much that even his late mother back then wondered if he wanted to become a clock teacher. And, seven year old Dexter had said to his mother. "Mommy? Is that possible? If so, I want to become one."The determination had been in his eyes, but if only seven year old Dexter knew he would ended up being one of New York's successful lawyers. And, now, he was on his way to a damn meeting in a firm for lawyers, what the hell? But then, knowing he had no other choice, he attended.Presently, his hands
"Zoey!" Stella's voice sounded from the background, and she walked towards her, holding a cup of coffee and some packets of biscuit, "Were you just gushing at Dexter?"Zoey's eyes snapped away from his direction, and she turned to look at her friend, her voice stumbling, "You know him?" Her eyes lashes flattered gently, and she blinked them, the gentle wave making her calm down."Know him?" Stella's shoulders dropped, and she gripped the handle of the cup, "More like I adore him, I have worked with him before regarding a case of murder." She rubbed her cheeks."And then?" Zoey didn't know why she was interested in his life, but something in her wished to know, she yearned for it. She needed to know it."Gosh, he's the coldest being you will ever meet, it's like his heart is made of stone, I even tried to hit on him once." She laughed hysterically to herself, tapping her chest gently, "Latter pushed me away and even threatened to kill me." Stella fiddled with the hemline of her dress.
All she just wanted to do was talk to him, maybe have a deep conversation with him, she had gathered all the courage to speak, but now seeing his hefty eyes, she bit her tongue, the words escaping her lips.He peered down at her, his stare crazy cold, it brought the shivers down her weak spine. "Miss. Hart?" The name rolled out of his lips like disgust. "If you have nothing to say now, I would like to take my leave." He almost shoved her away, but immediately, she grabbed his hand, her eyes pleading. He finally turns to look at her, with a raised brow."Dexter. Please wait." Her chest heaved up slowly, and her breath grew rowdy, he finally stopped and casted her a long look."What do you want, Miss. Hart?" He finally asks, this time not in a hurry to leave, he leaned against the wall, his legs crossing over the other, but his gaze never leaving her even for a second."It's not Miss. Hart for goodness sake!" She tried to keep her voice in check, but it failed her, it failed her badly,

One year later,Thanksgiving day.The room smelt like any other thanksgiving room, roasted turkey, cream, salad and a bunch of people sipping wine. The dinner was about to start, and soon everyone was going to be saying what they were thankful for.Zoey recounted, she didn't even know where to begin, just one year ago, her life had changed ever so much. Perfectly well, it had gone along.Dexter came into her life, Rafael stumbled in, and oh, she didn't know how, but they both loved her daughter so much, well. Zara better get used to having two overprotective fathers.Miranda, Stella and Zoey have become quite the inseparable trio, having tea on Mondays, hitting the gyms, and gossiping about their husbands.Presently, Zoey was sprawled on the bed, her hands swiping through her phone, just waiting for it to be ringing, finally it chimed. She swiped it up immediately."Stella!" She beams, cheeks pink. "How's the baby moon going? Is Mexico alright?"Stella's voice sounded so angelic from
Two Months later."Zoey hurry! We don't want to be late for Sky's concert. Do we?" Stella yells from the bedroom, her gaze directed at the dressing room."Coming! Just trying to get the zipper on, damn, it's too hard!" Zoey yells back.Stella takes in a little giggle, and stares outside the room, the view is perfect, she could see the sun set even from here. She was having a giddy feeling today, but it didn't sum up her excitement.Today was Sky's first concert after his music block has been overcomed and he was singing his new song. People are flooding all over Los Angeles just to hear his voice, She, Zoey and the rest already got their tickets. She couldn't wait to see him sing after his music block. Excitement is washing over her. She can't wait.Zara enters the room, a smile on her face. "Aunt Stella!" She throws herself towards her."How was your night? Little Pumpkin?" Stella nudges her hair playfully, her hands moving to tickle her."It's fine." Zara scrunched her nose, before
Even though one week had passed and everything seemed to be moving well, Zoey still felt this urge: sinking and swimming through her, prompting her to see her mother in jail, so that's why early in the morning, she got into her Sedan and drove towards the lane."What do you want?" The receptionist barked at her, her face gruff, prison was not a good place, no doubt. It smelt of stale coffee, the place looks rugged, like criminals had been jacked into this place, struggling to get inside."I want to see my mother." Zoey made to speak again, but the angry looking woman waved her off."Sorry. Kid." The woman puffed her cigar in between her hands, "But visiting hours are over, if you would please return later, I am sure you would be entertained with whoever you want to meet."The woman is really rude, no doubt, but Zoey doesn't want to leave without seeing her mother. Sometimes, your name is very important, and if using that name would get her what she wants. Then, why the heck not?She
The whole room felt so small as Zoey ran past them, it was like oxygen was racking her spine as she counted the rooms. Her breath was short-lived, she could only pray under her breath."Zara!" She calls out, fear evident in her voice, the pain of losing her own daughter sends tears to her eyes. The hall was stretched out, too many rooms. The stairs looking back at her.She stopped at the living room, she could feel the throbbing in her head."Zara! Please come out. Please." She just stood there rooted, it was like the alarm was buzzing in her head: countdown, five, four..Sweat clanged the corner of her hair, she checked her father's study, it looked rather untouched. Her father's favorite novel, 'Rich man, poor man,' sat there elegantly on the table. Hope. It needled through her, then vanished into thin air. She called again, this time more loudly, perhaps her daughter might hear her. "Zara!" The room was eerily quiet. With lost hope, she just stood there, she would rather blow with
The next day came rather too quickly, and like her mother used to say when she was young: You just have to face it.So, when she sprang up from the bed, she kissed Dexter on the forehead gently before heading downstairs. Rafael was by the counter making cereal for her daughter while balancing a cup of coffee on one hand."Ready for the big day, huh?" He hands her a cup, while gently pouring the milk into the bowl, Zara watches with her eyes fluttering."It's funny how you made it sound so casual." Zoey says casually, everything has been planned, they are all meeting up in her father's house. Nova, her husband, Alec and his wife, Stella and Sky. Miranda was going to meet them there.Zara shoves her spoon into the bowl, her mouth full of corn flakes. "Mother. Can I come with you? Pretty please?""Yes. Dexter and I will get the car ready, why don't Rafael pick out your dress, okay sweetheart?"She nods and focuses on her food, just by staring at her daughter makes her heart swell, the on
In life, you could be either lucky or unlucky, but there's no such thing as luck or not luck, it's the chance we have, it's the choice we get that defines us, not our luck, that's why as Lin sat down, fiddling with the hemline of her gown, she recalled all the choices she had got to make, and one of them dealt with forgiving her husband, Asher. He was only being threatened, he just wanted to protect her. He loves her, that's why he wanted to protect, because for the person you love, you could go through extreme lengths just to make sure they were safe."Lin? Lin, are you listening to me?" Asher said, clutching the cup of coffee in one hand. She snapped out of her daydream, before staring around, waiting. What was he saying? She didn't even hear a thing."I was saying whether we should take the kids to Disneyland this year?" That was one thing she would always love about him, his ability to remember anything."But Mommy, we went to Disneyland last year!" Her seven year old daughter wai
Stella had imagined countless things in her life, but here she was. Seating opposite her parents with Sky by her side, this time. She wasn't scared, hope brimmed in her chest, because with him she felt strong, she felt like somebody."You want to date him?" Her mother said, under those lashes of hers, her words held some kind of deep warning, "What about Doctor Rodriguez?"Her father dropped the spoon on the plate, the metallic sound filling their eyes. "Stella dear. You can't go out with him. He's not for-""I didn't come here for your approval." Her tone sent them all warning, Sky placed his hand on her shoulder, his gaze, a reassuring one. He turned towards her parents."I am Sky. Well, I dated your daughter, until you threatened me to leave her, I fell in love with her, again. I fell hard, I am still falling for her. She makes me, she completes me. I love her so much."Neither of them blinked."And I am sorry, but you can't stand in the way of our love," He breathed in, "She helpe
Loud chattering filled the room, kids chasing each other, muttering words under their breath, some kids sprawled on the neat blue rug, playing with their toys. The kitchen linked to the living room, some adults were leaning against the island, each gripping a glass of wine. There's some muttering, no laughter here, just clear talking.Relax. Zoey's head throbbed, but she just couldn't. Dexter's hand was placed on hers, it was warm, at least that made her calm down a little, but still. She wanted to sprang up the seat, and protect those she loved, her mind reeled. To her mother's word, to Lin's words.Thankfully, Zara was talking to her cousin 'Damien', they seemed to be arguing though, but hey, it was her daughter."Everybody." Natasha clicked the glass, the whole room went silent. The kids stopped and turned to look at her, immediately she received the call, she didn't know what prompted her to call Natasha, Natasha was soothing on the other end, and they agreed to call a meeting.Li
