Chapter 8: An obstacle😡

Bella's pov.

I had been on my lap top for a while and suddenly realised I hadn't eaten so I decided to order brunch, I reached out for the hotels service phone. " Room service, please," I said anticipating a response,

"Good morning! What can I get for you today?" A friendly voice asked

I'd like to order brunch, please." I replied. Can I get the avocado toast with scrambled eggs and a cappuccino?"

"Absolutely, ma'am. That'll be about 20 minutes. Would you like it delivered to your room or would you prefer to pick it up?"

"Delivered, please." I said hanging up the phone.

I switched off my laptop and decided to relax as I waited for my meal, then I heard a knock at the door. "Room service!" A voice called out

"Finally!" I let out

I went to the door, taking my tray from the server "Enjoy your meal, ma'am!" He said with a smile.

I thanked him as I hurriedly went in closing the door behind me, setting the tray on the coffee table I salivated. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the room and my stomach growled in anticipation.

With my hunger satisfied I knew it was time to get prepared for the charity gala.

I unwrapped the velvet case, revealing a tumble of diamonds and rubies that sparkled like fire in the dim light. My red gown slithered off its hanger, pooling on the floor like a crimson lake. Makeup brushes and lipsticks stood at attention on the vanity, waiting to transform me.

Next, I slipped into the bathroom, where a steaming tub beckoned. Rose petals floated on the water's surface, releasing their sweet scent into the air. I sank deeper, feeling the warmth seep into my bones, as the petals clung to my skin like gentle fingers. The mirror fogged, and I closed my eyes, letting the tranquility wash over me.

When I was done from the bathroom, I settled into the vanity chair, gazing into the mirror as I began my makeup. First, I primed my eyelids, the smooth canvas waiting for the bold, smoky eyes I envisioned. Dark gray shadow came next, blended seamlessly into the creases to create depth. A swipe of black liner followed, winged at the outer corners for a sultry effect. Subtle red undertones danced in the light as I finished with a coat of mascara.

My foundation came next – a light, natural-looking formula that enhanced my complexion without masking it. I blended it effortlessly, my skin looking radiant and healthy. A soft blush with a hint of peach added warmth to my cheeks, giving me a subtle glow.

Finally, I pondered my lip color options: bold red or soft elegance. I chose the former, applying the vibrant shade with precision. The color popped against my skin, matching my gown perfectly.

With my makeup complete, I stood up, gown in hand. The red fabric rustled as I slipped it on, hugging my curves in all the right places. I looked like a million bucks.

Now, for the finishing touches – my jewelry. I fastened the chandelier earrings, their diamonds dripping like ice. My delicate silver clutch came next, followed by a statement ring that sparkled like a ruby. I gazed into the mirror, a transformed woman staring back. Bold, sophisticated, and ready to take on the charity gala.

I slipped my feet into the designer black stiletto heels, feeling the familiar surge of confidence as the shoes transformed my posture. The sleek, pointed toes and delicate ankle straps added a touch of sophistication to my overall look. I stood up, my gaze drifting down to admire the way the heels elongated my legs, creating a stunning line from hip to toe.

Next, I reached for my small, sleek clutch bag, its black leather exterior gleaming in the soft light. I opened the delicate silver clasp and slipped my phone, lip balm, and credit cards inside. The clutch was just large enough to hold the essentials, its compact size perfect for a night out.

As I closed the clasp, I felt a sense of completion, my outfit now perfectly polished. The bold, red gown, smoky eyes, and bold red lips were all elevated by the sleek heels and understated clutch. I took a final glance in the mirror, the overall effect taking my breath away.

"Time to make an entrance," I whispered to myself, With that, I headed out the door, ready to take on the charity gala with confidence and style but then I realized I need a sweet ride afterall no luxury outfit is complete without a complementing luxury car.

I waved a taxi, "Dazzling rentals, please." I ordered immediately entering the taxi.

I walked into the luxury car rental agency, the scent of polished leather and freshly waxed paint enveloping me. Rows of sleek, high-end vehicles gleamed under the bright lights, each one whispering promises of adventure and sophistication.

"Welcome to Dazzling Rentals," a friendly representative said, approaching me with a smile. "How can I assist you tonight?"

"I need a car that makes a statement," I replied, my eyes scanning the options. "Something that exudes elegance and power."

He nodded knowingly. "In that case, may I suggest our Aston Martin DB11? It's a head-turner, and its sleek design will complement your... ensemble perfectly."

I followed him to the designated parking spot, where the Aston Martin awaited. Its black exterior seemed to absorb the light around it, giving it an air of mystery.

"This is it," I said, my heart racing with excitement.

After a brief orientation and paperwork, the car keys were handed to me. Oh I so wanted the car but it wasn't for sale so I rented it for a while.

I slid into the driver's seat. The leather cradled me, and the engine purred to life as I started the car. I felt a surge of adrenaline as I navigated through the city streets, the Aston Martin handling like a dream.

As I approached the gala venue, a sense of anticipation built within me. I pulled up to the entrance, where a valet awaited to take the keys.

"Enjoy your evening, miss," he said, opening the door for me.

I stepped out, my red gown and heels turning heads as I made my way into the venue. The Aston Martin had delivered me to the doorstep in style, and now it was time to make my entrance.

With a deep breath, I swept into the gala. Stepping into the grand hall, my red gown commanding attention as I made my way through the crowd. Heads turned, and whispers followed, as eyes scanned my outfit from head to toe. My hair, styled to perfection, cascaded down my back like a golden waterfall, drawing gasps of admiration.

As I searched for a place to mingle, I noticed colleagues and acquaintances staring, their faces a mix of surprise and envy. Some tried to play it cool, casting discreet glances, while others openly ogled, their eyes lingering on my daring neckline and fitted bodice.

I spotted a group of coworkers from the marketing department, their faces agog as they took in my transformation. One of them, Rachel, mouthed "wow" as I approached.

"Bella, you look... stunning," she stammered, eyes wide with admiration.

I smiled in excitement, "Thanks, Rachael. I decided to dress up for the occasion."

As I joined the group, the conversation shifted, with everyone asking about my gown, hair, and makeup. I lapped up the attention, enjoying the feeling of being the center of attention but I couldn't forget the reason for the whole appearance, Alex.

I scanned the crowded hall, my gaze sweeping across the sea of faces, searching for one person - Alex. My heart skipped a beat as I finally spotted him, standing by the bar, looking dashing in his tailored tuxedo. Our eyes met, and for a moment, time stood still. His gaze locked onto mine, his eyes adjusting as he took in my appearance.

I felt a thrill of satisfaction, knowing I'd caught his attention. But as I began to make my way towards him, I noticed a woman clinging to his arm, her hands wrapped possessively around his bicep. She was laughing and gazing up at him, her eyes shining with adoration.

My heart sank, my mind racing with disappointment. Who was this woman, and why was she draped all over Alex like a possessive shawl? I felt a pang of jealousy, my seduction plan suddenly threatened.

As I approached, Alex's eyes remained fixed on mine, but his expression was now tinged with a hint of awkwardness. The woman, sensing his distraction, turned to face me, her eyes narrowing into a calculating gaze.

"Ah, Bella," Alex said, his voice smooth as silk. "You look... stunning tonight."

I smiled, my eyes locked on his, trying to convey a message. "Thank you, Alex. You look quite dashing yourself."

The woman, still clinging to his arm, extended her hand. "I'm Vera, Alex's... girlfriend and business partner."

'Girlfriend!' the word resounded in my head but I wasn't shaking, I would still get what I want. I took her hand, my grip firm. "Bella. Nice to meet you, vera."

The air was thick with tension as we exchanged pleasantries, Alex's eyes darting between us like a trapped animal. I knew I had to think fast, to outmaneuver Vera and reclaim Alex's attention. The game had just begun.
