CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE: False Kindness 

Leo's POV

I didn't know how to respond to her request.

How do I tell her about her real family without her misunderstanding me?

Should I just tell her and get it off my mind?

Lots of thoughts were running through my head, and I was feeling restless.

“Leo” Amira’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts, and that was when I realized that I haven't given her a reply yet.

“I asked if you could help me to search for my biological father,” she repeated, but I couldn't see her expression as the light was turned off.

“I will get as much information as I can,” I said while rubbing her back softly.

“Promise?” She asked, and I felt conflicted.

She is one of the smartest people I know, and I could already tell that she was suspecting me.

“I promise to find information on your biological father and tell you as soon as possible,” I said after a few seconds.

She breathed a sigh of relief and hugged me tightly.

“Good night, Leo,” she said with a tired voice.
