CHAPTER SEVEN

Bianca

After two weeks, I managed to avoid Ethan because I don't want issues with Layla, she's always talking about him, and they even talk on phone sometimes, seems they are dating, so I don't want to get in between them. There's an empty seat at the back of the class, so when I come everyday, I drop my bag on my permanent and sit in my temporary seat in case our class teacher decides to visit, it'll be easier to go back to my seat empty handed than with my bag pack. I tried all my best to avoid him and i succeeded

Chioma came to visit me since today is Saturday, we do stay together to read even though we are in different departments and that's our routine on Saturdays, before she brought up Ethan's gist and his new white friend that just came from America too.

"Don't you think David's cute too?" She blushed

"Yeah, he his! white boys are always cute" I answered with a look of I'm not interested in talking about him before realization hit me

"Wait! Wait! Wait! Don't tell me you like him?" I asked hoping she would say no.

"Ermmm... Yes" she smiled sheepishly .

"He's white!" I exclaimed, reminding her he's white.

"Wow! So you're a racist? Skin  colour doesn't matter!" She said back.

"Okay! That's it, my best friend is hooked!" I muttered

"What about you and Ethan?" She winked

"What do you mean? I've told you already Chioma, no chemistry between us! And we've not talked in weeks!"

"That's because you've been avoiding him, what if he likes you?"

"Like me? That man whore! Definitely not! In these last two weeks, do you know the number of girls he has slept with in that school? And the stupid girls he's sleeping with won't stop bragging they've had a chance with Ethan Wellington, He attends all sort of parties and and... Can you believe he was staring at my chest the last time we talked! He was undressing me with his frog eyes! "

"That's because girls are throwing themselves at him, no guy can resist sex Bee, and about him staring at your boobs, he's probably wondering why they look small and lastly, his eyes ain't big!" She said in a dull tone

"Like I care" I rolled my eyes

"Do you know rumour has it that, Ethan's dick is huge, like 8 inches long? Don't even get me started about the width!"

"Great! I'm done with you, let me see you off" I exclaimed and she giggled

"Anyways, David has joined the basketball team too, the basketball tournament with bloom height high school is in a month time, should I join the cheerleaders?"

"Chi, 2014 valedictory party is just two weeks after the tournament don't you think you should focus on winning the crown than chasing a guy that doesn't know you exist?" I said soothingly

"Ouch! That hurts!" She said as she gave me a puppy face.

"The truth hurts" I answered in a singing tune.

"you are right but I can't go to 2014 v.p without a date, and my chance of  winning will be high too if I go with him. I really want to be the 2014 valedictory queen"

"Maybe, you are right, so you wanna join the cheerleaders now to get close to him? You want to seduce him?"

"Of course not! I'm not like that, I'm just trying to shoot my shot stylishly and if he's wise enough to catch it, fine! And if he's the dumbest white boy on earth, glory be to God!"

"Just be careful those guys admire anything wearing skirt"

"Who is going to vote for ordinary assembly prefect when your sister_"

"Cousin!" I cut her off

"Okay, cousin! When your cousin, the head prefect girl is also contesting" she said and hissed

You'll win the crown Chi, don't worry"

"Okay, I'm joining the calisthenics team today, Bianca! You should join too, don't you think?"

"My aunt won't let me, she doesn't want me in the spotlight with her daughter, I wish I could! Not for any guy anyways!"

She sighed, "I wish I can help you out of this hellhole Bee, I wish I can give you freedom and happiness, look at the room they gave you, you don't eat well, your hair is losing it strength, dandruff everywhere, i feel so sad that I can't help you,  but we have to be strong, when we get to university, everything will be better, we'll live together and we'll take care of each other, ugh?"

I teared up and hugged my best friend, my sister and my mother, she's my everything.

"Thanks Chi, I don't know what I'll do without you, thank you so much".

She rolled her eyes, "okay! Okay! Cry baby,  you get too emotional. Well, I have to go, mom said I should be back before 5 to prepare dinner and don't worry, I'll get you something to treat your hair, the dandruff is spreading."

Okay,  I said and we stood up and went out, I saw her off a little and she told me to go back. I went back into the house.

Ethan

Another Monday, it's been five weeks I got here but the last two weeks has been interesting  with my best friend here David, we've painted the town red and attended many parties the boys in school invited us to, I've not been able to talk to patty,  she has been  avoiding me but today I'm determined to talk to her and ask her why she's avoiding me.

I got to school , i joined the assembly and after the assembly we marched in like soldier ant, even God knows that I'm fed up of that shit, I entered the class and saw her sitting where she sits which is right beside me, I went to my sit and sat too totally ignoring her, I'll talk to her after class, she didn't look at my side either pretending as if she didn't know I entered. That didn't stop me from stealing glances tho, I saw are with a phone, that's the first time I've seen her with a phone, the economics teacher entered and she hid it in her bag, the class started.

Mrs Kendrick kept explaining even though its sounding like church sermon in my ears, I glanced at bianca, her mind seems to be far away, she's looking outside the window like a lost girl.

"What is inflation? Bianca..." Mrs Kendrick asked, she noticed her mind is somewhere else too.

She stood up confidently and answered, "Inflation is the increase of money, leading to devaluation of existing money."

"Bravo! Bianca, even though your mind isn't in this class, your brain is present..." She said and some students giggled

"Now class, I'm giving you guys a business deal assignment and you are to submit in two weeks time, so I'm going to pair you up and I expect a good job from you guys, you should work hard to get a A before your final exam  and your valedictory night!

"Yay!" Everyone shouted

Now listen to your names, she took a book from her table and called out

Layla groaned in frustration when she found out that she got paired with Henry

Bianca and Ethan

I smirked, when I heard that I got paired with Bianca, now she has no where to run to

Nelson and Kate

Seun and Uche

Ameera and Sean.....

After class, patty stood up, took her phone from her bag and left as usual without a word, I expected her to talk about the project but she just left, I stood up and ran after her.

"Hey patty..." I greeted, I noticed she wanted to object because I called her patty but she just said Hey too, her reaction almost made me laugh

"Why are you avoiding me?" I blurted

She furrowed her brows, "I'm not!"

"You are!"

"I'm not!"

"You are!"

"I'm not!"

"You are!"

"Okay! Okay!  That's childish, what makes you think I'm avoiding you? And why do you care? Are you tired of all the bimbos you've laid in two weeks and I'm your next prey?" She shot at me.

"What are you saying? I'm just trying to be a friend here" I said as I furrowed my brows

As we were arguing, Layla came and we kept quiet immediately

"Ermmm, are you guys alright?" She asked

"We are fine Layla" Patty answered,

"Seems you guys were arguing, if you don't want him to be you partner Bianca, I don't mind, we can switch partners!  I'll talk to my partner about it" she asked Bianca  and she nodded

"No thanks, we can cope! We don't need to switch partners" I declined.

Layla looks disappointed even though she tried hard not to show it.

"okay!" She said and left

I faced Bianca, "look at me! We have to work together to get a A, but if you don't, F is happily waiting for us, so my house by 5, I snatched  her phone, typed my number and flashed my phone, I gave it back to her and said

" I'll text you the address" I didn't wait for her to say anything and I left immediately.

I breathed out and sighed.

"she's unbelievable, all I'm trying to do is just to be a friend. How could she just accuse me like that?" I thought angrily

I went to the terrace, where she went two weeks ago and cried her heart out, I relaxed a bit and went for practice. I went home after that, I showered and waited for Patty's arrival, I know she might not come but I want to hope she will, I used deodorant, brushed my teeth, I don't know why I wanted to impress her but I managed to tell myself that it's not a big deal, it's something I'd have done if any girl was visiting.

I checked the time, it's 5:16. "why isn't she here? Maybe she isn't coming" I wondered.

I heard the door bell by 5:35, I opened the door and I saw her,  I smiled and told her to come in, she looked around in awe and I used the opportunity to check her out, she wore a red baggy top and a blue short, her hair is in a bun and her face is clean, she looks so innocent, like a  12 years old girl. I told her to sit and she sat.

"So where do we start from? Do you have a laptop?" She asked

"Errr, why don't we eat first?" I went into the kitchen and she followed me in protest

"Listen, I don't have time for this! I have to be home by 7 or I'll be locked out"  she yelled.

"Come on Patty, it's won't take long moreover, I'm famished and I can't let you watch me eat, okay why don't we work while we eat."

"Okay" she sighed "you don't give up! Do you?" She asked

"When it comes to you, I don't!"

Gosh! I swear I saw her cheek turn red, I almost jumped in happiness but all I did was smirk.

"So what did you prepare?"

"Actually I didn't cook anything, I ordered pizza" I answered

"What! I've not eaten that in months!" She exclaimed

"Oookay, I hope you like it" I served her and  when she took the first bite, she moaned yummy!

After the food, I offered her my MacBook and we started working.

She kept yawning, but she managed to keep working, before she finally fell asleep. She looked cute while asleep and I used the opportunity to study her face, she's really pretty, I noticed tiny scars on her face,  but she's still pretty with it,  I checked her work and I gasped in amusement, she's really brilliant, she did well, I checked the time, it 7:05.

Oh shit, she said she has to be home by 7, I kept thinking if I should  wake her up or not,  I don't want her to get in trouble, I gently touched her cheeks before she suddenly pulled me and kissed me.

"She must be dreaming" I thought.

When she let go, I didn't get enough so I kissed her again, her eyes suddenly flung open and she pushed me away.

"You pervert!" She screamed and stood up

"I'm sorry! I was just trying to wake you before you kissed me!"

"I kissed you? Why on earth would I do that? i would rather kiss a dog! God dammit!" She yelled

What she said was a blow on my face, I didn't know what to do but I managed  to say, "Did you just compare me to a dog?"

She glanced at the wall clock and paid full attention to it. "what! It's 7:15!!! I'm suppose to be home by 7" she yelled!

She started fidgeting, she packed her bag and headed for the door.

"Patty, wait! let me drop you so you'll get there early" I offered as I searched for my car key

"No thanks, I think you've done enough today" She ran after saying that.

I sighed and slumped on the couch before I noticed I sat on something, it's a small old fashioned phone, I took from her in school to get her number.

I groaned, "Dammit! She forgot her phone" I took my car key and ran after her.

Bianca

"I'm so dead tonight"  I kept telling myself as I was running, I must have slept off because I was so relaxed and I've not eaten a satisfactory food  like that in years, I'm just so stupid! And only for me to wake up and see him kissing me, I touched my lips again, I thought it was a dream, I saw him in my dream,  we are at the beach, he came out of the water and walked towards me and when he got to me, I kissed him, did I kiss him in reality too?  I asked myself,  I was running and deep in thought when I suddenly heard a blaring horn, I panicked,  I thought I'm on the road again, I looked at where the sound came from, and it's no other than Ethan, he kept yelling and horning telling me to come inside the car.

I later thought, if he takes me home,  I'll get there 10minutes but if I decide to keep running, it'll take me 30minute, I stopped and entered the car.

"You are just so stubborn" he muttered after I entered but I ignored him, when we got to where he dropped me the last time,  i asked him to stop, he stopped and i hurried out without a good bye or a thank you, I can do that tomorrow, I thought.

When I got home I knocked for minutes but no answer, my knuckles hurt but I have no choice but to keep knocking,  I have no where to sleep. I continued knocking until she finally opened the door.

Ethan

I watched as she left hurriedly when I suddenly remember I didn't give her her phone.  I waited for a while contemplating if I should go after her or she'll remember and come back for it.

I later decided to go after her, I got down and ran, when I got to the house I saw her enter, I was shocked it's the same house I dropped Layla in, "is she Layla's sister?" I wondered?

I saw her knocking on the door, she knocked for minutes but no one answered, the lights are still on inside, I even saw a movement, someone is definitely inside,  are they really not going to open the door for her, I thought and the door flung open.

A petrifying woman opened the door and I hid behind the shrub.

"Will you stop disturbing the neighborhood you fool! I told you, you are not welcomed here after 7, so if you knock this door again you are dead!" She went inside and locked the door.

Patty started crying and screaming, "I'm sorry Aunt Theresa, I got held up in the traffic, I didn't intend to be late, I have no where to sleep,  please open the door!" she cried heavily. A normal human being would have opened the door after she pleaded but the woman is heartless. I moved closer her, touched her shoulder and she flinched, she stood up and hugged me.
