CHAPTER FIVE

Bianca’s POV

"What are you doing here?" I asked as I glared at him.

"Are you asking me what I'm doing in front of my locker? What does it look like? I'm obviously not pooping, am I?" He teased

"You sure do talk a lot, don't you?" I said as I crossed my arm and looked at him from head to toe.

"No, I don't" he said and I rolled my eyes before walking away. He followed.

"Well, I just want to tell I'm sorry for saying everything I said to you yesterday, I was freaked out when you suddenly started talking non-stop, I'm sorry" he said remorsefully.

I didn't know what to say so I just nodded and i attempted to walk away again but he held me back.

"Can't you at least say something" he said. I tried to say something but I couldn't, my throat has been tied again, I just stared at him and I'm sure he must be thinking what sort of a weirdo I am.

"You know you do more of staring than talking, you are not mute because you've proved it already but why are you not saying anything?" He said and let go of my hand.

I attempted to walk away again, this time he didn't hold my hand, what he said stopped me.

"Can you at least tell me your name? You obviously don't want to talk to me because of what I said to you yesterday, you have every right to be mad, just tell me your name?" He pleaded

I turned to look at him, I just stared again and finally walked away.

I walked into the class and Ethan entered after few minutes, Mrs chike the Economics teacher entered and the class started.

During break, I saw chioma, despite the fact that she's a science student, our bond is unbreakable, she smiled gracefully as she approached me.

"Why are you smiling hard?" I finally found my voice again and I sighed after realising that.

"Is smiling a crime now?" She raised a brow and I rolled my eyes

"Have you heard about the party after our SSCE examination?"she asked

"what party again?" I asked as I threw my hands in the air

"Chill Bee, it's gonna be dope"she said

"Is the school aware of  it?" I asked her as I glared at her

"Not exactly, it's only the party after graduation the school knows about" she scratched her head as she said that.

"Thanks, I'm not interested" I said as I attempted to walk away

"You are going Bee, anyways hope you are reading hard?" She asked

"Yeah, what about you?"

"Mom isn't letting me sleep, I'm going to run away from that house" she whined like a child.

"I wish I have a mother that cares enough to make me read every time" I said sadly.

"Bianca, don't talk that way"

We entered the canteen, we bought a big doughnut each and a pet cocacola drink, she actually bought it for me because I can't even afford a pencil. We found a table and we sat there.

"I can't wait to sit for JAMB, get admission and leave that hell I call house" I said in frustration

"Have you reprinted your exam slip? When is your exam?" She asked eagerly

"Same date, same venue as yours but mine is 1pm" I answered

"Mine is 9am" she said unhappily

I put my hand on hers "we'll go together in the morning, I'll wait for you and you'll wait for me, we promised to be there for each other right?"

"Really?" Her face brightened up

"I didn't just speak gibberish, did I?" I said as I rolled my eyes.

"Oh my God! Why do I love you so much Bianca?" She said as she flung her hand around me

"Okay! Okay! Too much touching" I said as I patted her back to let go off me.

We heard the alarm that states that break is over and we went to our classes, I entered my class and i saw Ethan with his eyes glued to his phone again. I cleared my throat and he looked up

"I hope you know mobile phone isn't allowed in school?" I asked as I crossed my arm.

"Are you kidding?" He asked with a chuckle.

"Do I look like a clown or a comedian?"

"No you don't, but you sound like one" he replied

"Oh! You think I made up the rule, weren't you given the code of conduct?" I asked coldly

"Wait, why do you hate me?"

"I only hate rude jerks that think they can just open their mouth and spit out rubbish, so are you one?" i said as i shot him a cold glare

"This is about yesterday right?" He asked and I rolled my eyes.

"See, you are overreacting" he said as he put his arm on his table, i guess he was waiting for me to say something.

"Whatever!"I said and as I was about to sit, the books on my desk fell and I sigh in frustration, as I bent to pick them up, Ethan bent to pick them up too and we held each others eye, he's such a beautiful creature, he has a emerald green eyes with a curly baby hair, I wonder why God made him extraordinary cute. I got out of my dreamworld and picked some of my books up and he picked the rest, I sat on my chair and adjusted my uniform.

"What's your name?" I heard him say, I looked at him and looked away.

"You are really not going to tell me?" He asked again

"You know instead of disturbing me and stressing yourself out, you can easily ask any other person in this class?" I said as I wave my hands around the class.

"I want to hear you say it" he said.

"Owwww, sorry dear, that's not gonna happen" I said and I faced my book.

"Damn! You are mean, No one here likes me" he said giving me a puppy look

"Are you trying to say the opposite of what you just said? For the two weeks you've been here now, everyone has been talking about you, everyone likes you and wants to be your friend, you ride a car to school, you use the latest Apple phone, rumour has it that you live in a big house in V.I, everyone thinks you are the cutest guy they've ever seen and you are taking advantage of that, I'm still wondering why your seat is beside mine, you flirt!" I said in a rush and I was panting when I stopped. He stared at me in a weird manner and I raised my brow.

"So this is what it is about? You think I'm a flirt, girls are the one flirting with me and..." He trailed off

"You are sleeping with them" I finished for him even though I have no idea of what he was going to say

"Sweet Jesus! I'm outta here!" He exclaimed and walked out of the class. I watched him till he was out of sight and I sigh.

Layla walked towards me and said

"What happened between you two? He looks pissed"

"Nothing, I think he received a text, that's why he's pissed" I lied

"I saw you guys talking, tell me! what happened?"

"Even if you are going to die, I'm not gonna tell you anything" I of course didn't say that loud, it was in my thought

"We were just just sharing gist until he checked his phone and stormed out" I lied again.

"I don't think that's what really happened" she said and I sprang up in frustration

"Come on Layla, are you interrogating me now?" I said calmly but it's clear that I'm pissed, she scoffed and walked away.

After a little while, the mathematics teacher entered and the class started but we got interrupted by Ethan's arrival.

"Where are you coming from?" Mr Udo, the no nonsense mathematics teacher asked, instead of him being jittery, he was confident and acted cool as if he's also a teacher like Mr Udo, he put his hands in his pant pocket.

"I went to the restroom" he said

"Why are you not wearing the school uniform Or your sportwears? And why are your hands in your pockets? You forgot you manners at home?" Mr Udo said in anger as saliva flew out of out his mouth, Ethan saw it and stepped back as everyone giggled not wanting to laugh out loud and infuriate Mr Udo.

"Ermmm, about my uniform, I was given a wrong size on Monday, but I was informed I would get the correct size today, and about my hands in my pockets, my palms are sweaty and about my manners, I didn't leave them at home, I think I left them... In my bag" he said and everyone bursts into an echoing laughter, he smirked and Mr Udo fumes in anger

"To the principal office now! And the rest of you" He yelled as he faced us "open your text book to page 113, exercise 15B, answer the 30 questions there, if you fail one, you are doomed" he said and glanced at Ethan again before storming out of the class.

Ethan watched him as he left and he smiled, he faced the class and winks as everyone hailed him. I smiled hard where I am, Mr Udo is a mean teacher, he likes to flog student until a victim's parent came to complain and the principal threatened to fire him if continue flogging student, in short no one likes him.

When Ethan got back, it's already closing period, I'm sure he got a earful from the principal, I packed my books in my bag pack as he just typed away on his phone, I stood up to leave and he held my wrist.

"Wait! we are going together" he said without sparing me a glance, he just typed away on his phone.

"I... I thought you are mad at me" I said

"I was until I realized that what you said is just your opinion about me, since it isn't true, why should I hold any grudge?" He said as he finally look up. I formed air in my mouth and blew it out, I looked down feeling guilty as I played with my fingers.

"It's fine, I think we are even now, I said mean things to you yesterday" he said in his cool baritone voice.

"I guess we are" I said in a singing voice

"Where do you stay? I need you to take me to where I can get groceries, I promise to take you back home" he said in a pleading tone.

"It's okay, i need to go there too anyways" i said

"Awesome, shall we?" He grabbed my hand to walk me out but suddenly wore a confused expression.

"Why do I feel like I'm holding a man?" He said and I snatched my hand in shame, yeah! it's what you are thinking, my palm is rough, hard and dry and when I felt his, it was smooth, soft and cold. I looked at him and saw him smiling as if he can't believe what just happened, I glared at him and walked out in anger.

"Wait! okay, I'm sorry, I was just wondering why an innocent looking girl like you will have such a rough hand" he said teasingly

"My palms were never like that, shut up and stop saying what you don't know" I attempted to leave but stopped. "What makes you think I'm innocent? I might be a possessed with evil spirit, I might be a thief, an assassin, a runs girl or a rapist! Don't be so sure" I said as I shot him an angry look.

"Why will you rape me when I will gladly let you have me all to yourself?" He said and winked.

"You are such a neck in the pain... I mean a pain in the neck!" I said in frustration and attempted to leave again but he stood in front of me making me stop. He put his hands in his pocket, I've noticed that it's something he does whenever he wants to say something serious

"You are innocent because I believe, you are good person, a simple and a softhearted person, that's what I see in you, I didn't see a thief, assassin, possessed girl, a runs girl or a rapist in you, always have positive thoughts about yourself!" He said calmly, held my hand as he pulled me to go with him. I was dumbfounded about everything he said about me, I've always thought of the negative side of him, maybe it's high time I started to see the positive side.

He walked me to his car and opened the door for me and I didn't waste time in hopping in, he sat in the driver's sit and drove off, I looked around the car, it's a very nice car like the one we see in Hollywood movies. I kept directing him till we got to the supermarket, I brought out the list my aunt gave me and picked everything in a basket. We met together at the salesgirl's desk, she checked our things and told us the amount separately, I made to pay for mine when I heard

"For the both of us" I looked up and realised that he has given the salesgirl his card and she's about to swipe it.

Stop!" I ordered and the cashier shook, I guess my voice sounded firm.

"I can pay for what I bought" I counted the money and gave it to her "show off!" I said and walked out.
