I messed up

"Please, don't go," Damien whispered. His hands tightened on the curtains; then he turned to the door when it slammed.

"Don't go, Ember." he breathed out. But she was already out. She hated him.

Who wouldn't? He didn't blame her.

He had hurt her and slammed her, although it was purposefully, he had still done that, and he didn't check if she was hurt or not.

Damien pushed a hand through his hair, groaning, "I messed up."

But what should he have done? Nothing. That was the only way to keep her safe, he reminded himself.

Walking towards the coffee table once again, he grabbed the liquor bottle and poured himself another glass.

He straightened as a knock sounded on the door. "Not now, Ember," he stated as the door opened.

But it wasn't Emberlynn that was there. It was Gabrielle.

"What do you want?" he asked her.

"Can't I see to a friend's well-being?" she asked him, raising a brow.
