"Could you help me solve this riddle?" I asked the black bee that had just awakened from its deep slumber. Its initial reaction was one of disgust, as if it had been rudely awakened from a blissful dream. However, I didn't pay much attention to its reaction as my mind was consumed with thoughts of a strange sequence of events that had taken place.

The disappearance of Jade, the discovery of ashes in a hotel room, and Athen's odd behavior when I questioned him about Jade were all connected, of that I was sure. It was as if someone was deliberately trying to throw me off the trail, to make it seem like the events were unrelated. But I knew better.

My mind spun a web of theories, each one more convoluted than the last. Perhaps Jade had stumbled upon something she shouldn't have, and someone had silenced her. Or maybe the ashes were a red herring, meant to distract me from the real clues. I couldn't shake the feeling that something sinister was at play.
