Caspian's POV

The warriors managed to find eleven children in all. There are others, but the mothers went on the run with them. "Goddess," I say to Julian as I go over the list of names. "That is a lot of children."

The Beta laughs. "Virile and fertile, as any true Alpha should be."

"Hm," I grunt. "Where did I find the time to fuck so many women?" I joke.

"There's not much else to do during times of peace."

I stroll past the cells with the mothers and children, Julian by my side. I recognise only one or two of the she-wolves. “How is this possible?” I ask.

“Alpha?” Julian asks.

“I thought only the female that can survive my mark could bear my children.”

“That is the belief, Alpha.”

“Hm,” I grunt. “Clearly a myth.”

“Or maybe it's just misunderstood. Maybe the one who survives your mark is the one who’ll bear you the strongest pups.”
