Nathaniel grimaced. "I'll foot the medical bill, all right? I don't want you going around telling people you got gastritis from working for me." He couldn't fathom why Nikita would put her savings before her health.

Nikita blinked at the mention of money. "Well, why don't you make good on that offer and wire the money to my account right now, Mr. Foster?"

He scoffed. "Exactly how broke are you, Nikita?" Still, he fished out his phone and wired her the money without further question.

Nikita's phone screen lit up with a bank notification. He had wired her ten thousand dollars. She lifted a brow in amusement. He was more generous than she thought. She said in a much softer tone, "Thank you, Mr. Foster."

She didn't feel guilty about taking his money, not when she intended to put it toward raising the child. Surely it wasn't wrong of her to squeeze Nathaniel for what he was worth if he couldn't physically carry out his fatherly duties.
