This must be a dream. I turned around and saw him eyeing me with his vicious glare as I stepped back into the large house in front of me. The stairs are too intimidating, to begin with.
Being one of the Mob families, I thought our house was beyond extraordinary. It was luxurious because my mother loved shiny things and my father cannot eat his pride when it comes to his possession, but seeing this house right now? It looks like an entire village of elites can fill the place. In fact, it looks like a customary kingdom built only for him.
“ Better hurry, Santoro. My meeting will start at five,” he coldly said, pushing me towards the giant door while I saw his servants bringing the baggage behind us.
I cannot help but stop and turn around so I can face him. “ T-This is your house?”
He merely glanced behind me. “ Our house,” he corrected before sighing deeply and stepping forward to yank my arms, pulling me inside of this mansion. Even my thousand-dollar worth of boots felt so small the moment that I stepped foot inside of the perimeter.
This feels so magical. Every damn corner of the house was flashing with only the mixture of white and gold, like a castle in a medieval period. My eyes cannot stop shining as it admires the interior design of everything. The furniture is all cream while the chandeliers above us can cover half of our house.
We passed some doors and spotless hallways which made me stop in the middle because of the frames that are hung in it. Three great portraits show how powerful this family is.
“ As much as I love for you to meet them, Santoro, we’re going to be late,” his raspy voice made me bolt behind before he continued to pull my hands away from the portrait. I just can't stop thinking about it since I am damn sure that someone from there is familiar.
“ Great. I can’t even enjoy the night of my wedding,” I silently murmured to myself as I trail behind him.
Giovanni Dela Vin let out a choked laugh. “ I know a way how both of us can enjoy our wedding night.”
“ Pervert.” He only smirked before he stopped in the middle of the hallway.
Looking a few steps ahead of us, fear washed over me as I stared at the largest wooden door in front of us.
Wedding happens inside the church but marriage happens inside the room. My heart pounded thinking about what will happen behind this door. The conversation earlier made me confess that I am a virgin and that I have no experience when it comes to pleasuring men.
But Dela Vin also says that he won’t force any women to give him what he wants. Should I really go inside the room with him?
I felt his warm presence behind me. His stubbles pricking over the skin of my nape and his large frame covering my back. “ You know what will happen,” he whispered and before I knew it, the door made a clicking sound before it opened right before my eyes.
Dela Vin pushed me inside. “ I told you. I’m not into forcing women.”
His cold charcoal eyes scanned my trembling body before it stopped in my chest where I can totally feel his stare because I am only wearing a heart tube top to go with my plaid skirt.
“ Pick some elegant dress,” he pursed his lips. “ The pink one in the middle is your drawer. My assistant already filled your wardrobe with dresses that you can use for gatherings. You owe me one since I am not dealing with your body tonight.”
My breath hitched the moment that I opened the drawer that he mentioned. Instantly, my hands reached for the most expensive dress in the collection; the elegant black satin dress was enough to cover half of my thighs— something that the other dress in this collection cannot provide.
I heard him snort. “ Next time, remind me to fire him. That’s too short,” I absentmindedly nodded, agreeing.
“ This is the longest though.”
Giovanni stared at me for a moment after I appeared back in front of him wearing the black satin dress. I thought it would cover half of my thighs but it barely covers anything. The edge was enough to only cover what is needed to cover, revealing my pale skin.
The clearing of his throat makes me flush. I looked like a small lamb being criticized by its owner because of how intense his stare was. Dark ocean wide, his stares feel too much.
“ One minute,” he said, flicking his index finger before turning around and getting his phone. I couldn’t hear what exactly he was saying but I could hear him cursing loud enough to startle me when he was finished. “ I changed my mind.”
“ W-What?”
He swallowed hard. “ I can’t let anyone see you with that dress.”
“ B-But I can change.”
“ Nothing to wear here,” he said, glancing over the wardrobe. “ You’re right, Santoro. We should enjoy our wedding night.”
“ Dela Vin,” I said in a whisper. “ Y-You cannot force me.”
“ You keep repeating that, though?” he smirked. “ I’m a man of my word, Gabriela. Do you love movies?”
I stepped back, deeply staring at him. “ M-Movies?”
Dela Vin shrugged. I cannot understand what he is thinking right now. “ This house has a built-in theater. We can use that to celebrate our marriage.”
I fixed my gaze at him in awe of his sudden idea. Strangely, I found myself staring more than necessary. When I was told that I needed to make a great sacrifice for the family, I gave the mirage of a perfect wedding and husband.
Dela Vin held out his hand. “ Come here, I’ll tour you around.”
I didn’t move from my spot.
“ Santoro.”
As his threatening voice echoed inside the room, I flushed with embarrassment because of the words trying to come out of the tip of my tongue.
Giovanni Dela Vin is a ruthless man, right? But he saved my family.
My pulse was slowing when I reached his nape and let our bodies collide with each other.
“ Can we try for our marriage to work?” I took a deep breath and waited for his answer.
One minute. Two minutes.
He looks at me exasperated. “ No,” he said, making me stunned.
GabrielaGiovanni didn’t come back after that. My chest hurts. He refused to make our marriage work and I’ve been waiting all night long for him to make an explanation, but neither of his shadows appeared right in front of my eyes. When I woke the next morning, he was still gone. There was nothing from him, not even a single explanation of what had happened.Asshole.I knew that he was the cruelest mob leader in New York, but I didn’t know he was this cruel. All I can do is to get up from the bed and try to figure out where to go in this large house. He didn’t even tour me around.
GabrielaIt hurts. My body is trembling from the pain of what he did. Tears are begging to just flow out of my eyes because of the stinging sensation.I can’t even lift my body from the bed.Through my half-induced eyelids, I saw his figure grinning down at me. “ Learned your lesson?” he asked. He had the audacity to ask while buckling his belt. I got alarmed.I panicked. “ What are you doing?!”He smiles. “ Getting dressed. You can still lift your ass from that bed, right? I want my food to be prepared after I take my shower.”“ I am not your fucking maid!” I shouted.
Gabriela My whole body is sore. I can’t even lift a single finger to reach the glass of water on the bedside table to fill my thirst. “ Do you need any help, my love?” I heard Giovanni’s teasing voice from the corner of the room. I don’t need to lift myself from the bed and see what he is doing. This man is cruel. And I meant that. I squirm under the sheets. “ Smoking will kill you, Dela Vin.” My voice croaks dry. The fact that he made me run over his garden is awful. I cannot forgive him for dragging me into his habit of running to release his frustration over his gang. Frowning, he sat down on the side of the bed. “No one can kill me, my love,” he whispers as he runs a hand through my hair. I swallow and look away. There is something about him today that intimidates me. Maybe I am not used to seeing him early in the morning with all of his naked chest waving in front of my eyes. Even then, hearing Giovanni calling me his love is…overwhelming. My heart aches. I
Giovanni “ Elias is already dead. His body is disposed in the river just like how you instructed, sir.” I looked up from my cards and across the dark-painted surface before sliding my gaze to the man shivering in front of me. I’d felt…satisfied seeing how they fear knowing I can just snap my fingers and shot their head. Without mercy. Nor inhibitions. There was a gray cloud of smoke in the air as I puffed the last of my cigarette and throws it on the floor. Elias is Gabriella’s uncle who tried to swindle money out of their family. He committed treason and tried to hide from anyone. But here’s the deal: no one can hide from me. Owning multiple businesses in New York and with every man willing to worship the ground that I am walking on. Normally, I don’t meddle with family feuds since I don’t care about anything other than things that will make me money. But Gabriella, she’s different. Something about her is spectacular. Always had been spectacular from my perspective. I d
Gabriella “ Have you seen Giovanni?” I asked as soon as I found my personal bodyguard resting on the couch watching. He looks shocked for a moment before he abruptly rose in his heels. Ace looks like he was caught doing something bad. My eyes glance over the television and found the reason why. A grown up man who owns a pistol plastered into his waist is watching a kid's movie. I stifle a chuckle watching how he tried to turn off the television if I haven’t snatched the remote control first on the coffee table. He looks flushed. “ Your husband is out to attend some business proposals, ma’am. Do you need something?” “Do you know his favorite dishes?” “Sorry?” I looked up. Bewilderment is dancing over Ace’s expression and I don’t know why. Only two hours before dinner, I wanted to do something for Giovanni. Well, technically, I wanted to ask him to take me out for dinner, but he spends most of his time dealing with people outside. So, I am thinking of preparing our dinner s
Gabriella “ You’re ready for me?” Giovanni whispered, making me slightly moan. The feeling of his warm breath touching the sensitive skin of my neck is too demanding. It made me want to pull him closer to my body and just let him claim me. Tease me. Own me. My hands grabbed the silky sheets of our bed. “ Van…” I feel so hot. Warm air fills the whole room as I stare at his naked form. His naked body was standing over the edge of the bed staring right into me like a predator seeing me as his feast. His lips quirk into a thin line. His hands touch the bareness of his chest then he walks closer and closer until I was cornered against the headrest. Giovanni’s hand was busy twirling the end of my hair as I breathe deep and audible feeling how much he makes my body succumbs into his power. I never felt so intimidated. So overpowered. “ You know why I married you, Santoro?” he huskily asked, sliding his tongue to the skin of my cheek making me squirm a little. I looked up. O
Giovanni “Any updates about her?” I asked Ace who simply stares at me for a moment while standing across the table. My schedule for today is very hectic that I needed to stay in my office to do things. Sometimes, I hold guns then there are times when I hold a pen to approve money transactions. Funny, isn’t it? Two different objects yet they somewhat resemble each other’s purpose. I held the gun to kill. Once the tip hit the head of my victim, it already served its purpose. Meanwhile, the pen felt the same. Once the tip hit the surface of the paper I am holding, it’s already served its purpose. Both of them only mean one thing, it’s signing a deal. A fate. Destiny, they say. Guns and pens are just an ironic symbol of sealing someone’s destiny. And what’s worse? I needed to hold both of them with my own hand. I needed to feel their warmth and grip it tightly in order to use it. Fuck this shit. Who cares about dealin
Gabriella I managed to stay focused as I tried to walk toward the couch. The intoxicating scent of drugs and pity illusions of sickness makes my stomach churns out of disgust. I hate hospitals. Despise it even. For its full of misery and imaginary hope.“You better go back to your bed my love.”I squeeze my eyes shut for almost an incredible minute before glaring at the shadows behind the bathroom door. Dela Vin is leaning over the wall clothed in his fresh shirt and pajamas. He insisted for us to stay here for my recovery, which is why I hated him right now, by the way.I’m still glaring at him. Hardly succumbing to his gaze.He steps forward. Clenching his jaw and throwing off curses at his gaze seeing me out of the bed.“ You’re so stubborn,” he whispered, holding both my shoulders. He tilts my head to make me face him. All I can see is a man. I cannot see the beasts in him. Not even a bit of it lingers in his gaze. “ Do you want me to tie you in the hospital bed? Is that what you
I feel calm, more collected than I have in weeks. Killing Mia was the right choice, and I didn’t lose a second of sleep over it. That bitch thought she could crawl into my life, mess with my husband, and get away with it? Not in my world.I hear Giovanni’s heavy footsteps behind me before I see him, the sound echoing through the room like a storm about to break. I don’t turn around. He’ll be pissed, but that’s his problem.“You think you’re untouchable, don’t you?” His voice is sharp, dripping with anger. I can feel the heat radiating from him, even though he’s not close enough to touch me yet.I glance at him in the mirror, my eyes cold, unbothered. “She was a problem, and I handled it.”“You killed her, Gabriella. Just like that. No discussion. No fucking respect.” His voice rises, and I watch his fists clench by his sides. “I told you I’d deal with it.”I roll my eyes, turning around to face him fully, leaning casually against the vanity. He looks furious, but it only fuels that sm
I storm down the hallway, heels clicking against the marble floor like the sharp edge of a blade. Giovanni fucking Dela Vin. My hands are still shaking, my breath tight in my chest. He thinks I’m stupid. Thinks he can play me for a fool.Every damn time, it’s the same. Some cheap little slut thinks she can come into our life, take what’s mine, and Giovanni just lets it happen. He swears it’s nothing, but I’m not blind. I’m not some pathetic, lovesick wife who’ll turn a blind eye.I’m a Dela Vin. I built this life with him. Fought for every piece of it. And now? He’s risking everything for what? For her? For that?My fingers curl into fists. If he thinks I’ll stand by and watch him throw everything away, he’s dead wrong. I’ll burn it all down before I let anyone—**anyone—**take what's mine.“Mom?”I freeze. Rover. His voice is small, uncertain, and when I turn, he’s standing in the doorway, wide eyes staring up at me. My heart lurches, but I keep my expression cold, controlled.“Why we
“Talk,” she demanded, her voice sharp enough to cut through the silence. “But don’t you dare insult me with a lie, Giovanni. Not tonight.”I swallowed hard, trying to find the words, but everything sounded like a pathetic excuse. “It’s not what it looks like, Gabriella,” I began, but she didn’t let me finish. Her laugh was hollow, bitter. “Not what it looks like? Really? You think I’m stupid?” Her voice rose, simmering with fury. “I walk in here, and that thing is sitting on your lap, dressed like she’s auditioning for some sleazy strip club, and you want to tell me it’s nothing?”I flinched at her words. “Gabriella, I swear, it wasn’t like that.”She shook her head, pacing in front of me like a caged animal, fists clenched at her sides. “I should’ve known. I should’ve seen this coming. You’ve been distant for weeks, Giovanni. I thought it was the business. I thought maybe the pressure was getting to you.” She paused, her gaze darkening. “But no. It’s always about something—or someone—
I was sitting in my office late at night, the only light coming from the tablet showing Gabriella pacing back and forth in our living room. She looked upset, taking deep breaths, clearly bothered by something serious. It was hard to watch. Knowing I was part of her stress made it worse. Annoyed and frustrated with myself, I slammed the tablet down."Enough of this," I muttered to myself, pushing the tablet aside to tackle the stack of paperwork on my desk. But before I could get started, Mia barged into my office. She was wearing one of those flashy, cheap dresses that screamed for attention."Not now, Mia," I snapped, hoping she'd turn around and leave. But Mia wasn't the type to take a hint.Ignoring me, she walked up to my desk with that too-confident smile. "We need to talk, Gio," she insisted, her voice too casual."Mia, seriously, I'm not in the mood for games," I said, trying to keep my voice calm but firm. She just laughed and, before I knew it, she sat herself right down on m
"Mommy, why are you sad?" Rover asked, gazing up at me through his long lashes as we walked near the playground of his boarding school. The war between Giovanni’s past and our present might have quieted down, but the battle inside me hadn’t ceased. Despite everything, the idea of pulling Rover out of this school never crossed my mind. It was his sanctuary as much as it was my place to find fleeting peace.I forced a smile, crouching down to meet his eye level. "I'm just thinking about some grown-up stuff, buddy. Don't worry about it." The innocence in his eyes made me wish I could shield him from the complexities of adult burdens forever. He seemed to consider my words, his small hand reaching out to touch my cheek, a gesture filled with more empathy than one would expect from a seven-year-old. "Is it about Daddy?" he whispered, his voice barely a breeze but heavy with intuition. The question took me aback, but I masked my surprise with a nod. "A little bit, yes. But everything's goin
As I yanked the steering wheel, the city lights were a blur. The words kept hammering in my head: “Mia was never just Giovanni’s friend. They were deep in some real dark stuff...”It made my stomach twist. Giovanni and Mia, really? It gnawed at me, a mix of jealousy and betrayal that felt like it was burning a hole right through me.I slammed the car door and stalked towards the house, heading straight for the gym out back. The light from inside spilled out onto the grass. I pushed open the door and there he was, Giovanni, hammering away at a punching bag, his face set hard, lost in thought."Really, Giovanni?" I snapped, unable to hold back. "Mia? After everything?"He stopped, gloves mid-air, his brow furrowed as he turned to face me. "Gabriella, it’s not what you—""Don’t!" I cut him off, feeling my heart pounding against my chest. "I can't even look at you right now!"Giovanni dropped his gloves, the thud echoing around the room. "You think I'm happy about this? About her coming b
Gabriella's POV The soft morning light hadn’t yet fully filled the room when I awoke to an unsettling quiet. Giovanni's side of the bed was empty, a fact that tugged at my unease. Slipping out of bed, I padded softly down the hallway towards the kitchen, drawn by faint sounds that shouldn’t have been there at this hour. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee grew stronger as I approached, mixed with the low hum of conversation. Pausing at the doorway, my heart squeezed painfully. There was Giovanni, his back to me, pouring coffee into two cups. Beside him stood Mia, exuding an effortless elegance that seemed out of place in the early morning. Her laughter, light and intimate, floated across the room, and it struck a nerve. That was a laugh I had never heard directed at anyone but me.“Good morning,” I announced my presence, not able to keep the ice out of my voice. They both turned, Giovanni with a flicker of surprise that quickly smoothed into a practiced smile.“Gabriella, you’re up ea
Third Person's POV The drive to the venue was quick, the streets of New York blurring past as they discussed their strategy for the evening. "Remember, tonight's about solidifying connections. We need to reassure our current allies and maybe even draw a few new ones into the fold," Giovanni instructed, his tone now all business.Gabriella nodded, her mind already running through the list of guests. "I’ll handle the Hendersons. They've been waffling since the last shake-up. It’s time to secure their loyalty.""And I'll take care of the Martins. They've been too quiet lately. I want to know where they stand," Giovanni added, his eyes narrowing slightly as he considered the potential threat. The car pulled up to the opulent venue, the grand entrance illuminated by elegant lighting that cast long, dramatic shadows. They stepped out, immediately greeted by the flash of cameras and the murmur of the high society gathered there. Their arrival had not gone unnoticed, and as they walked in, t
It had already been days since I last connected with the outside world. Giovanni insisted on keeping me confined within these walls for my own safety, but the isolation gnawed at me relentlessly. Each night, I heard the door click shut as he ventured out into the dark, leaving me to imagine what godforsaken deeds occupied his hours. I knew all too well the streets he roamed were ruthless, yet fear stifled my voice, keeping my questions unasked, my fears unvoiced. But one night, the weight of silence became unbearable. As he prepared to leave yet again, his figure cloaked in the darkness of our bedroom, something within me snapped.“Where do you go every night, Giovanni?” My voice, though quiet, cut through the stillness with a sharpness I hadn’t intended. He paused, his hand on the doorknob. “It’s not your concern, Gabriella. You’re safer not knowing.”“But I need to know!” I insisted, my voice rising. “I can’t keep sitting here, wondering if you’ll come back, or if one night, it’ll b
